It's so disgusting that so many people in this country can be so easily led by empty rhetoric and false promises of "change"....
The idiots only see that he's a Democratic and fail to realize the evil intent.
Just how can you sleep sleep at night, you mindless sheeple?!

I'm really excited with Obama's position on abortion and gay marriage. With this attitude,in one generation we should have eliminated a vast majority of the liberal democrats that are working hard to end this great country.

Pro choice? Who's choice? Certaninly not the innocent baby's choice! IT'S BABY KILLING NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT! It's a choice to kill! Plain and simple! How the heck can you not see that????

Finally we have a President that is truly bringing to USA a fresh change that has been needed for decades. This is the only President in modern times that has kept his word on all his campaign promises and is going about it with the urgency that is needed to bring us out of this mess and into a full recovery. Unfortunately, the Republicans are so pissed off that Obama is now President that they will discredit any thing he does. Time will show us that he is indeed one of the greatest Presidents we have ever had.

      Huh?

What flavor Kool-Aid are you drinkng? Don't you remember Obama promisting that he would end the Iraq War ASAP?!

  • Posted By: archerace7 @ 04/25/2009 9:02:14 PM

Obama was bought and paid for by the same people that got Clinton and Bush elected. And none of them have our best interest at heart. By the time Obama uses the excuse that Bush gave him we will all be debt slaves to the Gov. with little to no freedoms...Wake up America

    • Posted By: thrlmccoy @ 04/25/2009 9:22:59 PM

I find it strange that your comment as to the President is no more then being ignorant for one the Bailout was passed under President Bush. The bailout was passed by the Republican congress and Senate in 2008. Now that the USA elected a BLACK MAN as the President you VERY IGNORANT people (yes I am stating about uneducated WHITE/RACIST people) are bashing him. But I remember when President Bush was elected people like you came out to tell people that we should come together behind our president but yet since President Obama is BLACK or actually Bi-racial NOT ONE OF YOU IGNORANT people have come out to back him because he is the elected president of the USA.

I suggest that you and others like you sdhould growup because you are still acting like a child because you did not get what you wanted. Sorry but that is life and therefore DEAL WITH IT!!!!!!!!!

Now the race card. Most people could care less of Obama's color, moreso his integrity and ability to make moral, right decisions. I think most people would easily vote for MLK Jr because he was a decent man, and upstanding man. We can't say that for Obama.

        • Posted By: eagleswing44 @ 04/26/2009 1:08:46 AM

You people actually have the gall to talk about morals after the atrocious decline of this nations economy by the Bush administration. This was the most morally unfit and corrupt administration since the impeachment of Richard Nixon. Over 4000 American troops have lost their lives and we are still counting not to mention the countless thousands of innocent Iraqi men, woman and children who have perished in this pointless war. This was a war of wills and produced nothing but death and distruction and has all but crippled this economy. Was this a "morallly right decision"? I think not. This was Bush and his evil side kick Cheney at their best. How these 2 men can sleep at night is beyond me. His daugters didn't come home in body bags. How some American's can look at this and call it patriotic while calling Obama's decisions immoral is beyond me. Perhaps the "race card" may not be too far off the mark. I believe Obama has the ability and know how to put this country on track.

  • Posted By: edmccaffrey @ 04/25/2009 11:20:52 PM

smltngrl had better reread her constitution and the ideas of the founding fathers. God was never mentioned anywhere in that document (on purpose, I might add), nor was race, or military service. The country was founded on equality for all.

Although you are right, what are our laws based on?

  • Posted By: republican12 @ 04/26/2009 12:55:32 AM

I strongly disagree with all of you who say you do not trust Obama. I believe he can be explicitly trusted to do the following: Spend the next four years promising the moon to all those dumb enough to believe in him so they will vote for his re-election; granting amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens so they can vote for him; spending more than the TOTAL of all presidents from Geo. Washington to George W. Bush; redistributing the wealth to those who contribute little to this country,(either by work or by taxes); increasing taxes enormously to pay for his wild spending; appointing as many ultraliberal judges as he can; and doing all in his power to push this country leftward to the socialistic system of the average mediocre European "nanny" state. You can trust him to do all of those things.

  • Posted By: buffalodeb @ 04/25/2009 11:33:22 PM

Excuse me ... smtngrl.. I guess you didnt realize that Obama CUT your taxes.. and science is back.. yes, my dear, we may now be able to thwart some of these awful diseases. And by the way, I dont think our forefathers would have gone the "shock and awe"way I believe they would have tried OTHER means. Give it up.. you LOST the election, and left a big pile of dog doo for this administration. I thank God every day that we have a calm, rational , intelligent President who is and has the gonads to make the bold moves he has made.

    • Posted By: MontanaGirl6969 @ 04/26/2009 12:52:36 AM

      Hey RETARD....

Our forefathers DID go the "shock & awe" way. It was called the American Revolution! I know 1st graders with a higher IQ than yours.

    • Posted By: miamijer @ 04/26/2009 12:46:05 AM

Obama's tax cut is indeed comparable to a pile of doo doo! What that nasty CNN reporter in Chicago still does not get is the fact that state, county, and local taxes will far outweigh any tax benefit we get from the Feds. On top of that, the guy that she was insulting was right on when he mentioned the fact that the "billions in stimulus money" going back to the states is in fact taxpayer money...so in reality, we are simply getting back the taxes that we already paid. Wow!

  • Posted By: smithsonian @ 04/25/2009 11:06:27 PM

o yea by the way almost forgot go to youtube if you have too. obama did not say ithe economy will be better in a few days ..... he said its going to get worse before it gets better and the worse did not come yet so all yall who are QUESTIONING, INSULTIN, AND OR BLAMING HIM well theres only one thing you can do SHUT THE *** UP

    • Posted By: TodaysFuture @ 04/25/2009 11:13:03 PM

that's right instead of letting us know of the POSITIVE things he has done (nothing comes to mind yet unless you want to count late night talk shows and Michelle's wardrobe) it is so much easier to defend him by calling us the dumb idiots...really? I think 99% of our posts speak for themselves!

      • Posted By: Americathebeautiful2009 @ 04/26/2009 12:51:56 AM

Yes I see there are a lot of Rush Limbaugh, the ugly-fat-racist-pill popping war monger, supporters that can't stand to see that the world around them is changing and we are not living in the 30's, 40's 50's anymore. It is difficult for the hillbilly rednecks and the white elderly hiding behind religion as a reason to be narrow-minded to see an intelligent articulate man of color is running the country. You are the same people he is trying to help with tax cuts, affordable healthcare, and infrastructure projects and you are too blinded with your old country back-wood ways to see it. This country is in a serious financial and economic crisis plus most of the world doesn't respect or admire what we are since Bush got in office throwing his weight around saying ???if you are not with us then you are against us???. So Obama is using diplomacy by having dialog with our enemies and there are many and also trying to get this economy going. It will take a long time and money to get it going again. Where were all these right wing extremists when Bush was spending and borrowing money from Japan and China like there was no tomorrow, obstructing laws, outing CIA agents and using WMD's to start a war killing and maiming thousands of US soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqi citizens. This war plus deregulation of the banking system got us into this mess. The US is heading towards a color blind open minded society and most of you can't stand it. Just admit it and continue to wallow in your hate, misery and bitterness.

Take a breath. These boards are WAY disproportionately skewed towards right-wing posters. I might suggest reading the post I wrote below about recent voting demographics, and about how the Obama supporters I know are mostly younger people. They're out having fun, going to bars, restaurants, driving around listening to music, or spending time on Facebook. They're not on here. But they still vote.

By contrast, older conservatives - many retired - have a lot more time to post, because they go out less. And the archetype of the "cranky old man/woman" or whatnot who bemoans the world because it doesn't look the way it did when they were kids is a pretty universal and eternal one. It's easy to look at it and think, "My God, where did all these people come from?" The truth is that the youth vote put Obama in power, and they're not posting on Newsweek. But they definitely vote, and if you took even just all my friends on Facebook (I'm 29) and set them to blogging on here for a day you wouldn't even recognize the board, because things would have shifted so much.

The Internet's comments boards in general self-select for people with a lot of time on their hands, and a lot of grievances that nobody else is listening to. It gives them a sense of power. The ones who are out living their lives have more exciting things to do, and I can guarantee you they're not panicking the way the people on these boards are. (I definitely know there are days where I would love to be doing something else, I've just chosen a career that puts me in a place where there aren't a lot of other young people and not a lot to do.)

There's plenty of reason to be calm. There's a pretty big echo chamber effect that goes on all over the Internet. It's not the cause for alarm that the "The End Of The World Is Nigh" people would like you to believe that it is.

I think people forget that anyone running against Bush would have won. Yes- even Republicans had had enough. Most succesful con artists know when to take advantage of an easy opportunity and Obama sucked you all in hook, line and sinker! He has sold out our country and put every single taxpaying American in enough debt to cause the residents of our country to be owned by the government. It's ridiculous what has been allowed to happen in only 100 days. I think that unless your head is buried in the sand (rather than the other saying which is more likely where your head is at) it is a very un-nerving time in our country. Even those that voted and are old enough to still be paying attention at this point are rattled at the events of the last 100 days. I care more about a President who is looking out for the best interest of the citizens of and the country we are versus what is on the agenda today for the photo op (planting a garden or tree inan orange silk shirt Mrs.O) and opportunity to tell the world he thinks we all stink. The truth is-- it is our history that allowed him to be where he is-- and he shows no respect! Can't wait to read a blog that isn't so narrow that the bloggers focus on skin color. Get over that argument. Obama is our President - I don't really care if he's purple or pink- and apparently neither did those that voted him in. This is about How is he doing? Bottom line- he gets an F from me!

    • Posted By: animeshon @ 04/25/2009 11:31:09 PM

I think you best read your post again, the last time I checked President Obama ran against Senator McCain, which I agree was about as close to re-electing Bush as you could get, but was not as a president is only allowed 2 terms in office. And if he gets an F from you, what would you have done in his place if you think things are so easy to fix?

      • Posted By: miamijer @ 04/26/2009 12:50:04 AM

In reality, BOTH parties have screwed us over and will continue doing so. We are sheep for the slaughter, and that is how the Beltway Boys look at us. Anybody could have beat McCain due to W's legacy. Obama looks like a deer caught in the headlights as he tries to navigate around a mindfield filled with explosive issues. The irony about W is that he expanded most of the programs that the liberal Democrats love, but he gets blasted by them anyway. OMG!

      • Posted By: proudamericanalways @ 04/26/2009 12:00:40 AM

McCain was a far cry from Bush but your argument was well received by the people who only wanted change and 'hoped' they got it. You seem to have also fallen for that campaign line like so many others.! Now- I think it only right if those that support Obama suck it up and take the complaints just like Republicans had to hear from you. At least we were safe because of our strong military and national intelligence (read as formerly now that someone decided the world needs to know how we succeed against other militant action), strong and safe enough for you to go vote by the way. This isn't high school- or a frat house - popularity contests only go so far and Americans are too strong to fall for superficial articulate teleprompter reading folks that want to bankrupt its citizens and weaken it enough to be vulnerable to socialist and terrorist entites! It is time to focus on home. But apparently the agenda for change meant having the government buy your home, bail out banks so that it could control how they operate and move on to selling out the USA whenever possible to show that the new leader is willing to bow down to the interests of other countries and not its own!

For those of you who question Obama's citizenship, The citizenship of John McCain was also questioned and was only resolved through legal wrangling and Senate involvement Please read the following:
John McCain (born 1936), who ran for the Republican party nomination in 2000 and was the Republican nominee in 2008, was born in Colón, Panama, in the Panama Canal Zone[34] of two U.S. parents, who were at the time serving at the Coco Solo Naval Air Station. In March 2008 McCain was held eligible for Presidency in an opinion paper by former Solicitor General Ted Olson and Harvard Law Professor Laurence H. Tribe. In April 2008 the U.S. Senate approved a non-binding resolution recognizing McCain's status as a natural born citizen. In September 2008 U.S. District Judge William Alsup stated obiter in his ruling that it is "highly probable" that McCain is a natural born citizen, although he acknowledged the possibility that the applicable laws had been enacted after the fact and applied only retroactively. These views have been criticized by Gabriel J. Chin, Professor of Law at the University of Arizona, who argues that McCain was at birth a citizen of Panama and was only retroactively declared a born citizen under 8 U.S.C. § 1403, because at the time of his birth and with regard to the Canal Zone the Supreme Court's Insular Cases overruled the Naturalization Act of 1795, which would otherwise have declared McCain a U.S. citizen immediately at birth. In any case, the US Foreign Affairs Manual states that "it has never been determined definitively by a court whether a person who acquired U.S. citizenship by birth abroad to U.S. citizens is a natural born citizen [???]". In Rogers v. Bellei the Supreme Court only ruled that "children born abroad of Americans are not citizens within the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment", and didn't elaborate on the natural born status.[41]
Barack Obama (born 1961), 44th president of the United States, was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to a U.S. citizen mother and a British subject father from the Kenya Colony of the United Kingdom. Before and after the 2008 presidential election, the argument was made that he was not a natural born citizen. On June 12, 2008, the Obama presidential campaign launched a website to counter what it described as smears by his opponents, including these challenges to his eligibility. The most prominent issue raised against Obama was the assertion that he was not actually born in Hawaii. In two other lawsuits, the plaintiffs argued that it was irrelevant whether he was born in Hawaii, but argued instead that he was nevertheless not a natural born citizen because his citizenship at birth was, in part, determined by the British Nationality Act. The relevant courts have either denied all applications or declined to render a judgment due to lack of jurisdiction. Some of the cases have been dismissed because of the plaintiff's lack of standing.

Liberals are so utterly without the gift of logic.
Explain to me how it is that they cry and moan over the "needless slaughter" of animals, yet paste "free choice" stickers all over their cars?

    • Posted By: miamijer @ 04/26/2009 12:34:48 AM

They are the same people who preach "diversity and tolerance" to anyone who will listen, while at the same time they have no problem censoring Miss CA concerning her opinion of gay marriage. Liberals go off about how intolerant, bigoted, and narrow-minded conservatives are while they support flaming pop tarts like Perez Hilton and his slandering of Miss CA. No matter how you slice it, liberals live by a double-standard. You are cool only if your opinion is PC.

Our world image has gone from Minutemen walking briskly shouldering a musket to walking quietly and carrying a Big Stick to now tip-toeing and carrying a white hanke. Certainly not a strong leadership image and not even on the same page as Roosevelt, Johnson or Reagan. Yes, truly a joke!

  • Posted By: Vigilance @ 04/25/2009 11:50:53 PM

    I think Obama's roughly in the B, B-plus range...

I'm starting to agree with some of the other people I've seen on here. Not the conservatives shrieking "F! F!", but the people who say the Fed is the real cause of a lot of our issues.

Half our national debt is to the Federal Reserve. That's an indication of the kind of power our banking sector has over the rest of the country, and where a lot of our wealth is going to be flowing if we don't get a handle on this all soon. It explains a lot about why companies like AIG got the bailouts they did, because that system is all intertwined and fused together in some hard-to-disentangle ways.

So I'm starting to agree with some of the libertarian (real libertarian, not "Limbaugh libertarian") people out there who point to the Fed as the source of a lot of the problems with the economy. The Fed under Greenspan put a LOT of money out into the economy - a lot of which is concentrated at the top, and not moving much, but still contributing to inflationary fear anyway.

Mr. Obama - if anyone from your campaign is listening - while I highly disagree with many libertarian viewpoints, I strongly urge you to "break the back" of the Federal Reserve and the amount of power it has over the country. Half our debt owed to our own "central bank" is far too high. Limit their power, and paradoxically, it really wouldn't hurt to find as many ways to shut off the easy-money spigot as you can. It contributed heavily to our leverage crisis. We need to return the purchasing power of our currency to the American people.

    • Posted By: Vigilance @ 04/26/2009 12:21:30 AM

By the way - as I'm reading more about the Fed on Wikipedia and other sources, I'd like to say that I am most emphatically NOT one of those people who believes in abolishing fractional-reserve lending, or the abolishment of the Fed, or other such extreme measures. Fractional-reserve lending is responsible for a lot of our prosperity. What I AM concerned about is that power has gotten to be *too* centralized in our banking system, leading to predatory lending and easy money to the wrong people (e.g., big banks not looking out for the public interest).

There has to be a balance. When you have no central bank, panics come easily. Liquidity crises come easily, and the financial system has no "central lubrication". But when the central bank has TOO much power, you see the type of thing that happened over the last few decades - too much easy money to the wrong institutions, too much leverage, leading to too much speculation and not enough real investment in the middle class.

Perhaps "break the back" is a strong word. I think I need to moderate it down to "curb the power of" the Federal Reserve.

But one thing all you conservatives who are screaming about debt want to realize is - HALF OUR DEBT is owed to our own central bank. What does our central bank do with the money? It makes it available to financial institutions in times of crisis. The money isn't disappearing, the country's not headed to bankruptcy - because we owe it to "ourselves". More precisely, we owe it to our bankers. When the Fed is doing what it's supposed to, that's not a bad thing - but as we've seen with AIG and the other bailouts, the problem is that a lot of people in our banking system are not looking out for the rest of the country anymore. Our banks have been predatory with their lending instead of trying to encourage investment.

I'm tempted to go "you guys are idiots" or something just because it would get responses, and I have a hard time getting responses when I start talking about GDP-to-debt ratio or the Fed or similar topics. But I don't actually believe that and it would be a shame to have to start insulting people myself in order to get anyone to actually discuss the Fed.

Still, it would be GREAT if some of you conservatives who are shrieking and spitting about how Obama's spending is going to ruin the world could take a crack at what I'm talking about instead of the doomsaying.

In 100 days he managed to make a complete mockery of our constitution. He bowed down to the Arab leaders. He practically kissed Hugo Chavez on the lips. He went all over the world telling all of the other countries how selfish cwe are and how bad we SUCK! He's going to close Gitmo, release the terrorists to live free in this country, and give them tax payer's money to live on. He can't find anyone for a cabinet post who knows how to pay taxes. This so-called "amazing" speaker can't utter two words without his teleprompters. He promised to bring our troops home then commited 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan. He promised "NO MORE PORK" then passed a bill with over 9,000 earmarks in it. He's releasing CIA documents about how we interrogate terrorists and he's going to turn his head while they prosecute Condoleza Rice. Where the hell is the ACLU, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson now? Oh, she's a Republican. Screw her then!! He wants to impose a tax on carbon dioxide that will cost every household in this country over $3,000 per year, per household (Hello? Are we not supposed to breath now?). He put the government in the position where it owns most of the liens on most of the houses in this country. He wants to tell private companies (ie... Visa, Master Card, Am-Ex, Discover) how to run their companies and how much they can charge their customers, to take over the Student Loans in this country, to take over the health care industry. Can you spell SCOCIALISM? He and Hillary Clinton want to give more money to foreign countries while we drown in debt. Last, but certainly not least, in less than 100 days he managed to put this country in deeper debt than what it took George Bush 8 years to do! A debt so deep that even if the United States sold off every single one it's assets, this country would still be over 14 TRILLION dollars in debt. A debt in which there is no way the top 5% of wage earners in this country will be able to cover it. Which means that since "S--T rolls downhill" it's going to roll right over the top of the middle class and bury us in it. Then he'll claim that he had no idea how bad things were when he was running for president, but once he got in there and saw how bad it REALLY was, he realized that he had no choice but to raise taxes across the board. But it won't be his fault. It'll be George Bush's fault. BOO-HOO!! Here's a newflash.....

THE ELECTION IS OVER! YOU WON! QUIT BLAMING BUSH AND TAKE OWNERSHIP OF YOUR OWN SCREW-UPS!!!! QUIT CAMPAIGNING, DOING THE TALK SHOW CIRCUIT AND KISSING THE BUTTS OF OTHER WORLD LEADERS AND START RUNNING THIS COUNTRY!!! YOU WANTED THE JOB.... SHUT THE HELL UP, QUIT WHINING AND DO IT!!!

So, to sum it up, I think "Chairman MaoBama" stinks!!!

Welcome to China, I mean Cuba, I mean Russia. Hell, what country is this again? It's only been 100 days and I don't even recognize what used to be the best and most powerful country in the wo
