As a SC teacher, I wanted to vomit when I saw the article on Sanford. He is a millionaire phony posing on his truck. Don't kid yourself, he is a rich white boy with a multi-million dollar beach house, whose only platform has been for school vouchers. He has been very hostile to public education and has done every thing possible to undermine public education in this state. So thousands of us may lose our jobs and our students suffer. If the Republicans are stupid enough elect him as a presidential candidate, they will be walloped, and I can't wait to campaign against him.

He's done. Fox News just tickered him as a "Democrat" (with "(D)") in one of their broadcasts, which means Roger Ailes has just thrown him to the wolves.
His base won't forgive the infidelity and everyone else won't forgive him going AWOL for five days. I don't care about the affair myself, that's personal - but you can't just up and leave in the middle of running a state (or country).-

Gov. Mark Sanford's wife said Monday she did not know the location of the two-term Republican chief executive. Sanford's staff declined to disclose where he was.
First lady Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press her husband has been gone for several days and she doesn't know where. She said she was not concerned. Jenny Sanford said the governor said he needed time away from their children to write something.
Sanford spokesman Joel Sawyer declined to discuss where the governor was. Sawyer told The Associated Press that Sanford was taking time to "recharge" after his failed fight against federal stimulus money.
Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer said he didn't know where Sanford is but said he had not been put in charge.

Mark Sanford: Was on Chris Wallace's Sunday Program some Months ago and he was sitting next to Newt Gingrich and when Wallace asked Sanford about International Affairs, Sanford referred to Newt Gingrich, siting that Gingrich had [Experience] on National and International Policy...
He was Smart for not Answering and Diverting the Question to the former House Speaker [Gingrich] but Gingrich is going to be his [Rival] in [2012] and that Interview, as well Mark Sanford referring the question to Gingrich and why he did so, will be shown throughout the Republican Primary.

I don't understand. Sanford cried over his decision to refuse unemployment funds. Because he doesn't believe in the stimulus. And his is lauded for not taking the stimulus, But he took the stimulus. What?

ANCHORAGE, Alaska ??? Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will sign bills accepting most of the federal stimulus funds available to the state, her spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Palin initially said she would accept only about two-thirds of the $930 million available to Alaska.
Palin spokeswoman Sharon Leighow said the governor changed her mind after the public weighed in during legislative hearings prior to lawmakers passing bills to seek almost all of the funding.
Palin had warned about the state having to finance projects created by the stimulus funds after the federal money runs out. She earlier called the stimulus package "an unsustainable, debt-ridden package of funds."
Alaska's Legislature conducted more than 20 public hearings on the federal stimulus package, and legislative leaders said they couldn't find any of the strings attached to the funds that Palin had warned about.
They passed bills accepting nearly all the funds before the April 19 adjournment.
"I thank legislators for their work on the federal economic stimulus package and the public for participating in the process," Palin said Tuesday in a statement.
The only funds Palin will reject, Leighow said, will be nearly $29 million for a State Energy Program she says are tied to adopting a statewide energy code.
Alaska's vast expanse and wide-ranging conditions are not conducive to such an energy code, Palin said.
Leighow anticipates the legislative bills covering the stimulus will be sent to Palin by early next week. She will have 20 business days to sign or veto them.

You are an uneducated left-winger who believes that spending more will always make problems go away. If a country is going to spend and the tax payers are going to have to pay for it, the state should take the money that is going to be most useful for their state. Mr. Sanford is a businessman and I know that man knows more about economics and business than you ever will hope to know.
There is only so much the man can do with a country seduced by Obama and his "promising" speeches. People do not have a clue what Obama is actually proposing. They just hear him speak and follow him blindly. I just wish this country would do some critical thinking.
Your type of thinking is what is wrong with America and it is a shame to see what the country is becoming with people like you. Go take an economics class and read a newspaper other than the New York Times. (oh and your comments talking about white males and hillbilles, it proves that liberals are racists too)

I have to laugh at all these "elitists" who think that a peice of paper makes them smarter, better and superior to those who do not have a "sheepskin" on their wall. You will see in their posts like this one t- they always talk down to their "inferior U.S.citizens" especially the south because of their strong GOP support. Must make them feel gratified belieivng the NE & NW of the country superior to the rest of the nation - you know the parts of the country that demonstrate common sense, have moral and family values, attend church, help their neighbors, give to charity, and demonstrate a work ethic of "git er dun" to help make this nation great. When these elitists like Omaar post, I always think of my uncle who was a brilliant man that could fix anything and I mean anything. He could just as easily repair a transistor radio or jet engine, He was an engineer without a degree in fact he finished only the 6th grade. He stayed at home to help keep the farm going through the depression and when he achieved manhood he set out on his own and made an excellent living on his 6th grade education. So Omaar sit in your ivory tower looking down on the rest of us "inferior souls" while we go about making this country work, securing and keeping your freedom and allowing you to post your far superior intellictual knowledge on us lesser beings . John Dough, I take absolutely no issue with the way you described Southerners. The only thing is that is simply not true about Southerners in regards to American Blacks and you know it. Sometimes when people make statements, purposefully omitting certain realities, it seems as if they are being deceptive. It seems as though they are lying by oppission. Since the founding of this nation up until today, when has the South ever treated Black Americans the way you just described them? Are you being honest, or are you just making up stements so that Americans will think highy of Southerners in spite of their hate manifested by racism they have perpetrated on this nation, and specifically Blacks? Or do you think it does not matter to other American citizens the South attempted to tear this nation apart to set up a territory where the law of the land was to oppress Blacks? Can you really defend such actions? How does Slavery and Discrimination fomented by racism lend itself to Christianity? You have confused me. I thought everybody new the South supported Slavery and that when the Civil War ended they invented Jim Crow Laws. You know the Souths invention of codifying racism into the law? Are you being honest with readers, or just selling a bill of goods?

I applaud my governor for doing the fiscally responsible thing. Those of you who think that you can spend your way into prosperity from the largesse of the federal government do not understand economics.
