It would seem that the embarrassment of a world class landslide loss is not enough to contain Burris, bring on the humility lesson by all means!

I f Burris has any sense at all, he won't even try to run. I would say he should refuse to avoid the public humiliation of the possible landslide against him, but that hasn't stopped him before. Using the race card in a general election won't help him and with the publicity of Blago's upcoming trial, not to mention the anger of Illinois voters against him for pushing his way into the Senate, he's a dead deal. He still can put "I was a Senator" on his tombstone.
The problem is, the kind of person who is okay with getting a Senate seat from "Big Hair" (i.e., Blago) is also not the kind of person who will generally have the good sense to recognize these things. Political corruption does not self-select for an ability to be in touch with reality.
It has been so pleasant these last few weeks NOT having to hear about this dude, ad nauseam. Our luck just ran out.
Mr. Burris, it's time to go home. You're not in public favor. I respect your right to run, but this continuing scandal is doing nothing but shedding a continuing taint on Illinois politics, and it doesn't really need any more taint...
