Look. A plane crash in Mexico that kills 200 would be just that.
The A1(H1N1) has caused 168 deaths so far in Mexico and what has happened?
Mexico shut down all but essential government services and private businesses from Friday which marked the start of a five-day shutdown (May 1-5), and the economy is now staring at at least 1% off its GDP for 2009.
As this virus hits the rest of the world - even with a 6-10% mortality - governments will aopt such measures and even if they don't, the people will go into self quarantine. As sure way of halting any economic activity, if you ask me. The consequences to the world economy? You tell me.

Interpolate that to much of the world - 168 deaths & I tell you other government's will also go that far (ior people will self quarantine themselves) - and tell me whether there are reprecussions to the world economy.

We should not laugh and just let "life go on". It's a virus. If there's a chance of a global pandemic disaster, it'll come from a virus. Human race is supposed to be afraid of their ability in changing their genetic sequence, which can make them as deadly and tough as AIDS, as we already know.

Who are "they," and is anyone giving warnings against using the scare of a flu pandemic to spam comment sections with adverts for medicore websites?

Not to make light of the seriousness of the Swine Flu problem, but this is pretty funny:

Yes, in theory, a severe pandemic could take down global markets.

In reality, the chances are so small as to be laughable.

It is spring. People get sick. The vast majority get well. A few die. Life goes on.

    Much aflu about nothing.

Well that didn't take long. Here we have a serious subject and "The Massiah" shows up with this non-sense.

To all democrats: Let is be known that there exists a faction of conservatives that really are just conservative and are NOT represented by the likes of "The Messiah" and all his childish name bashing friends.

LMarcT, I wish more conservatives were like you.

More proof of just how vulnerable the U.S. is. Not to worry however as ScumBama is destroying the country economically so millions are going to die as a result.

When you have no job, no home and you're hungry, thank ScumBama and his band of criminals on Corruption Hill. The sheep need to learn the hard way.

The media loves to tell us about how the sky is falling. The only dumber than a journalist is a cockroach in a meth lab. It sure would be fun to throw news journalists to polar bears at feeding time.
