Teens have been hammered quite severely at times for displaying nude parts of themselves to show their friends/significant other. At times, they have been treated like criminals; maybe not in all cases, but definitely some. Properly educating them about the dangers of doing such things should be their discipline.

I f you can't show it on primetime tv, you shouldn't be allowed to show on a site that is geared towards the same target audience. It's not my rule, it's the FCC's!

its more obscene seeing fat guys than females this country needs to get with the times and worry about your selfs and not what other people are doing.

Thanks to Facebook editors for doing a dirty job and keeping the world a little cleaner. My kids have to wade through commercials and billboards that would have definitely been labeled porn twenty years ago- I'm thankful there are some aduts still mature enough to recognize that it is much better to keep the standards high.

Better be glad they don't charge you monthly to be a member like an exclusive club. This site belongs to them, not you. You are under their house rules like you would be under mine. You are a guest, they make the rules. Start one of your own if you don't like it. The girl in this article is covered. Nothing showing. She's just standing normally.

I dont think nipples are inappropraite, I you flag babys and females you need to flag over weight males also

Wasn't the gal in the picture for this article protruding her chest rather forwardly; as in sticking it out to be noticed??? That is inappropriate and she should be reprimanded for such careless behavior!!! Personally, I live my life and do not attempt to live it through a computer screen. I may be wrong, but I cannot trust people to be honest and trustworthy through computer sites. I never knew about the no nipple rule until news about it came about. If a person is going to flash their nips, cut them some slack and don't treat them like they are hardened criminals; bounds of reason should factor into this. Younger adults and kids will be curious and make mistakes such as nip flashing....they aren't criminals, they are just making the same mistakes we all might have done growing up. Yes, people that do "inappropriate" behavior should be educated as to some of the obvious dangers for doing such things....like attracting perverts/predators to their sites....they should be disciplined in this way, but not treated like criminals.

I believe that the pictures are just being deleted...and nobody is coming to these peoples homes and taking them away in handcuffs. So, I think its just a little extream that you say they are treating them like criminals.

If my lady-nipples are to be censored, then I think all man-nipples should be censored as well. Breast-feeding mums are a case in point; this is more than just policing "decorum"--they're policing norms on gender, sexuality, and morality.

I completely agree. If breastfeeding is obscene, then seeing pictures of men with their shirts off is also obscene.

I'm glad Facebook has these guys and gals...more sites need people like them!!

I'm very appreciative of what they do. I am a mother and although I work hard at screening what my children look at, it is nice to know that there are places out there making it a little easier

Facebook is and always has been free. Therefore it's users are subject to the rules set forth by those who have a vested interest in the success of the site (i.e. those who built it). It's the old "as long as you live under my roof you will live by my rules" routine. It's their server space, their infrastructure, and thier employees that make it possible for all of us to have a page on the site. If you don't like thier rules then invest your own time and money into building your own site with your own rules or go somewhere else. It really is just that simple.

They are good policy's, but I think they went a little overboard when they flagged my picture of my then 6 month old in the tub because you could see her "nipple."

U got caught and can not deny it. It is all there for those to view!

  • Posted By: Rego @ 05/04/2009 5:19:07 PM

I think there should be a way to censor and uncensor at the same time. If age is verifiable by any means then anyone over 18 should LEGALLY be able to post and view whatever they want. If Facebook made a selection option saying a certain photo was for 18 and over then they could claim unresponsible for any minors who purposefully lie and search adult content. Then there is another arguement.... what about exotic art? There was an art exhibit (festival) in Seattle last weekend. It was strictly "Exotic Art". Who decides what is porn and what is not?

Wow...the fighting and carrying on about Facebook leads me to believe they are doing exactly what they had intended to do. And is it really all that important they delete "obsene" pics? I mean, really? I may think it is beautiful to see my wife breast-feed our baby, but do I really want to see other women breast-feed theirs? Like some of the those commenting in here, if you don't like their rules, start your own website and set up your own rules. If Facebook is so bad, why are there 200 million subscribers? If I recall correctly, Facebook is for social networking, not posting pics, although most everyone on Facebook does. But you have YouTube for videos, MySpace and I'm sure there are few sites out there for those that have to get their "porn" on. Complaining about Facebook is like complaining about the remote not working. As you would more than likely buy a new one, go subscribe to a different site, and QUIT COMPLAINING!!!!

Facebook????????? for kids that do not have a life yet and adults that never will, who cares?

    • Posted By: openzen411 @ 05/04/2009 5:16:49 PM

Interesting you think that I have gotten back in touch with many college friends that I lost track of over the past 20 years. I think anything that is over done is not healthy, however, as for having or getting a life, expanding your horizons and exploring new avenues is part of growing with life.....so when does your wall come tumbling down????

Everyone should care - especially Facebook. I would not let just anyone use my phone ot send message etc. Facebook is a classy site. If you want tasteless porn let Jerry Springer set one up.
