I hope that this discussion prompts everyone to follow through on their personal disaster preparedness. Only about half of Americans have some emergencies supplies set aside. We can do better than that, especially since 72 hour kits now come pre-made. All it takes is 5 minutes and a point and click. You can find some here: http://www.readysetgokits.com as well as other online outlets.

The scholars Pyburn and Freidel need to take a step outside of their respective disciplines and observe what astronomers, astrophysicists, and contemporary seers are observing. They need to take a look at the Total MACROCOSM and consider that they just *might* have tunnel vision within their current paradigm of knowing. There are "climate changes" happening on all the planets, not just ours, and there are changes happening that are not immediately observable with our eyes as we're inundated with distractions and indoctrinated with limiting reductionist belief systems in our day to day lives. This is not fringe science. These are very, very real observations. There's undeniable evidence of this and for anyone to say that what you're is seeing is not actually what you're seeing would be an insult to your intelligence. The paper Interplanetary ???Day After Tomorrow???? written by David Wilcock and Richard Hoagland is heavily footnoted so you can verify the evidence for yourself. There is also the work of Nassim Haramein that people should consider for their own research, a snippet of which is Crossing the Event Horizon: Another Cycle Begins on Youtube. A more challenging watch for those in the mainstream paradigm is the information and insight imparted to Alex Collier at his May 2008 talk at the Exopolitics Earth Transformation conference and also David Wilcock's presentation on "The 2012 Enigma". There are indeed some people taking advantage of the 2012 issue and debate, capitalizing on its popularity, but the synchronicities with the evidence presented are just too uncanny...and even *those* true charlatans aren't even aware of the real evidence. Balance discernment with openness; logic with intuition. Question everything and exclude nothing. A very limited mind will accept very limited amounts of information and will live a very limited life.

Richard Feynman had something to say about this, oh, probably 50 years ago.
The only NEWS about this is probably what the headline states, it is a Y2K: something for people to get worked up about, but in the end, will amount to very little.
Probably the most interesting aspect of it is watching the ebb and flow of optimists and pessimists battling over the significance of some date on a calendar. Paying attention is about as useful as watching bulls and bears on Wall Street, or watching TV preachers switching back and forth between glorious rapture and hell on earth. It all amounts to strong feelings and hot opionions about nothing. The goal is identification and exploitation of gullible people. If a sucker is born every minute, it would be convenient to know who they are.
