The perfect website for this 2012 debate has just launched - it can be found at - http://www.conspiracy2012.com

I hope that this discussion prompts everyone to follow through on their personal disaster preparedness. Only about half of Americans have some emergencies supplies set aside. We can do better than that, especially since 72 hour kits now come pre-made. All it takes is 5 minutes and a point and click. You can find some here: http://www.readysetgokits.com as well as other online outlets.

The scholars Pyburn and Freidel need to take a step outside of their respective disciplines and observe what astronomers, astrophysicists, and contemporary seers are observing. They need to take a look at the Total MACROCOSM and consider that they just *might* have tunnel vision within their current paradigm of knowing. There are "climate changes" happening on all the planets, not just ours, and there are changes happening that are not immediately observable with our eyes as we're inundated with distractions and indoctrinated with limiting reductionist belief systems in our day to day lives. This is not fringe science. These are very, very real observations. There's undeniable evidence of this and for anyone to say that what you're is seeing is not actually what you're seeing would be an insult to your intelligence. The paper Interplanetary ???Day After Tomorrow???? written by David Wilcock and Richard Hoagland is heavily footnoted so you can verify the evidence for yourself. There is also the work of Nassim Haramein that people should consider for their own research, a snippet of which is Crossing the Event Horizon: Another Cycle Begins on Youtube. A more challenging watch for those in the mainstream paradigm is the information and insight imparted to Alex Collier at his May 2008 talk at the Exopolitics Earth Transformation conference and also David Wilcock's presentation on "The 2012 Enigma". There are indeed some people taking advantage of the 2012 issue and debate, capitalizing on its popularity, but the synchronicities with the evidence presented are just too uncanny...and even *those* true charlatans aren't even aware of the real evidence. Balance discernment with openness; logic with intuition. Question everything and exclude nothing. A very limited mind will accept very limited amounts of information and will live a very limited life.

Richard Feynman had something to say about this, oh, probably 50 years ago.
The only NEWS about this is probably what the headline states, it is a Y2K: something for people to get worked up about, but in the end, will amount to very little.
Probably the most interesting aspect of it is watching the ebb and flow of optimists and pessimists battling over the significance of some date on a calendar. Paying attention is about as useful as watching bulls and bears on Wall Street, or watching TV preachers switching back and forth between glorious rapture and hell on earth. It all amounts to strong feelings and hot opionions about nothing. The goal is identification and exploitation of gullible people. If a sucker is born every minute, it would be convenient to know who they are.

The 2012 date is a valid artifact of the Maya calendar. We now know it had meaning for the ancient Maya because of the 2012 text on Tortuguero Monument 6 (forgot to mention that, didn't we?). As a cycle ending in the Long Count calendar, it also would have meant for the ancient Maya what any cycle ending meant for them: transformation and renewal. That's about as basic as it can get, and I believe I stated as much in my interview with Ms Miller. Scholars, like David Freidel, have failed in their job to treat the 2012 topic rationally, and so it has fallen to an independent outside investigator to offer well-document research into how 2012 played a role in Maya cosmology, iconography, and conceptions of time. And, Maya spiritual teachings that relate to cycle endings can also be discussed rationally, if only scholars would reciprocate. My work is not about about proclaiming doomsday or ascension; it is just a good old fashioned reconstruction of a forgotten tradition. I'd be happy to engage Dr Freidel in a written debate on 2012 The alternative is continued mudslinging fed by misconceptions. John Major Jenkins

Why would the Mayans have any way of knowing world affairs in 2012? If you think that some bunch of shamans WOULD have some reason to have an opinion about that, then why would their opinion be any better than those of Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Scientologists, etc.? If they were so insightful or gifted, how come they have not avoided near elimination as a society?
I guess belief is a personal thing. Personally, I see no compelling reason to believe this, and I wonder why any reasonable person would.
Why not worry about something that matters instead? Something that is likely to be true and real? Why not do something good for your community or family? That would be a far better use of your time and effort.

This story actually was started by the credit industry to try to stimulate last minute borrowing before the "end of the world". They have coordinated with most national big name retailers to have "end of the world" sales starting in 2011. Of course, there is truth to most anything. Those who over indulge in these sales and overextend themselves will feel as if it really is the end when the interest on their balances is hiked up to 45 per cent. Stay tuned for developments.

Talk about getting even with the credit industry. Watch them bawl when she really does end. They'll never collect.

Yeah, but I'm still paying back the cash advances I took out in 1999. Guess I picked the wrong apocalypse.

    "2012: Time for Change"
is a feature-length documentary, directed by Joao Amorim of Curious Pictures and featuring Daniel Pinchbeck, the bestselling author of "2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl" (Penguin, 2006). In the style of "An Inconvenient Truth", "What the Bleep Do We Know", and "Waking Life", our film explores ideas about what the immediate future may hold, symbolized by the myths and prophecies of the Mayan culture of Mexico. Interviews with design scientists, anthropologists, physicists such as Dean Radin, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Nassim Haramein John Todd and Paul Stamets and celebrities such as Sting, Ellen Page and Gilberto Gil. 2012 combines film and animation in an innovative way, taking us on a journey through our own evolution.

I saw the dead, both unimportant and important, standing in front of the throne, and books were open. Another book was opened-the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books.--REVELATIONS 20:12

Um,, ya think that the Mayans may not have had a chance to continue their calendar? Just because the one calendar is all we have found does not make any definitive ending of time. Life on this planet has been many times before, in many ways. Our beliefs of our own being is just that. No more. Creatures come and go, we are just one of many.
Civilizations have mysteriously disappeared, and there have been no real answers. The convienient lies that religeon provides is the crux of this mis-information that continues to plague mankind. Cease your un-proven beliefs, and move on.

Pinchbeck, Jenkins, et al want to have it both ways: capitalize on the fascination with apocalypse, and then declare that it's all good, it's a transformation.

That's not what Jenkins says at all Einstein. As he just posted above,"My work is NOT about about proclaiming doomsday OR ascension; it is just a good old fashioned reconstruction of a forgotten tradition."

The 2012 date is a valid artifact of the Long Count calendar. It is meaningful in terms of its use on Tortuguero Monument 6 and elsewhere. The end of the 13-baktun cycle in the Long Count (December 21, 2012) would have meant what all cycle endings meant to the Maya: transformation and world-renewal. This is about as basic as you can get, and I believe I said as much in my interview with Ms Miller. I've never stated that 2012 was a cataclysm, nor a utopian ascension; my work has been to elucidate what is in the Maya material - in the Creation Mythology that speaks to the World Doctrine of cycles, thus relating to the cycle ending of 2012. Scholars, such as David Freidel, have failed in their jobs to treat the 2012 topic rationally. That's why it has fallen to an independent researcher to offer well documented research on what 2012 meant to the ancient Maya and the role that it played in Maya cosmology. Many of the major breakthroughs in Maya studies have come from independent outsiders. And I would happily engage in a written debate with Dr Freidel. The alternative is continued mudslinging fed by misconceptions. John Major Jenkins

Pinchbeck, Jenkins, et al want to have it both ways: capitalize on the fascination with apocalypse, and then declare that it's all good, it's a transformation. This generation's age of Aquarius. It's not in the stars, it is in ourselves. Get working for a change and maybe we will get it - don't just watch the calendar.

Assuming the world will end in 3 years, what is anyone going to do about it? Just go about your lives, and if tomorrow is your last day, then that's that.
