In the 1990s the UNO's World Health Organization launched a campaign to vaccinate millions of women in Nicaragua, Mexico and the Philippines between the ages of 15 and 45, allegedly against Tentanus. The vaccine was not given to men or boys!

The WHO now recomended that pharmaceutical companies make swine flu vaccine.The U.S. government has already increased the availability of flu-fighting medicines and authorized $1 billion for developing a new swine flu vaccine. There is big money in this and big opportunities to promote the WHO to be the health ministry of the New World order UN-government! "Now that pandemic has been declared, more and more countries will guarantee that they will purchase vaccine if it is available, and WHO and World Bank will guarantee to purchase for the poorest countries in the world."

Amongst all the replies it seems 1 very important aspect is being ignored, that is, the SIGNIFICANT progress made from 1918 to almost 100 years later. In 1918 over 100 million people died from the same pandemic. Nearly 100 years later it has resurfaced and been contained to only 1000's of deaths. This is medicine at its best! The diseases are not getting worse nor exceeding the development of research. We are winning this battle. Despite the loss of lives you must see the facts are in our favor.

"Swine flu" is a bad name for the 2009 pandemic.

This one should be called "American flu", in line with past pandemics named "Spanish flu", "Asian flu" and "Hong Kong flu".

It's important to discuss this. Already there has been some discussion about the impact this will have on the agribusiness industry, specifically the poultry industry. Uday was sick this week, was worry about swine flu.

Then find out was only the clap. Very the relief.

Its amazing how much our diet, and from where and how we obtain food, has changed. We are consumbing far more meat than we should bird, swine, beast flu is cropping up consistently.

I personally think we could see the day where a pandemic flu not only bring the risk of death to us, but causes a huge disruption to our food supply (think along the line of mad cow disease). I think it is wise to be thinking about building a personal supply of food (think http://www.homefoodstorage.com ).

I would hate to be standing in line at Costco, or the local grocery store with a pandemic flu on the loose and everyone trying to stock up becuase people are being asked to stay at home for month. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

This article is well researched and lays out the nature of pig flu in an orderly, if incredible, fashion. Why does the "history" of the pig flu as presented here seem like new news? Is Newsweek the only news organization able to see past the daily sound bites and actually dig into the facts of the case? Ms. Garrett and Newsweek are to be commended for a job well done!

Maybe this time my message will get posted. Human population is bread on farms. The farms are called citiies. The larger farms are called metropolises. People learned to fly quickly and easiely from place to place. Human gene pool is quite uniform and so are farm animals and farm crops. No matter what people eat (meat or veggies), the growth of human populaton will cause widespread diseases. Not only among humans, but also among farm animals and farm crops. Just a fact of life. To vegetarians (and the author of the article) - fight your cause with real reasons not with swine-flu.
