USA must STOP his Unconditonal Love towards Isreal immedately for the Sake of its Own Natonal Security,We all Know that Isrealis are indirectly happy to turn many Islamic fanatics to become "Terrorists"with their cleverly creations now emerging terorists existence looks like a real security treat to Isrealis and the world.
A country with Nuclear Power capabilities cannot be compares with neigboring countries that doesn't have proper arms, let alone Nuclear Power, with that reasons makes them continously Slaughters his neigbors. Now we all understood why the German's Nazi saw and single hand out them from other many various ethnic group as very dangerous minds capable with gven opportunity to be brillant manipulators .Real facts.

A Zionist,a only single country with Nuclear Power capability in Middle-East with USA blessing and total support by USA continously with financial ,Arsenal Supports.
Lucky now President Obama start to realise this Huge mistakes made by past US Presidents President Obama intiatate Isreal to sign the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty directly to Visiting Isrealis Prime Minister now to try correct US past.

Afganistan,Iran,Iraq, many US former Allies, now becoming US enemies,Most recently Pakistan,Iran under real pressure by Islamic Extremist ,What worrying Facts now Countries like Turkey,Eygpt,Jordan,Saudi Arabia, a very Close US partner start to crack up if USA doesn't make a Change 180 turn around or we might likely to Loose them as Amercan close Allies.

Today's Turkey is a part of the Islamic world, supporter of Russian Eurasian policy, a kind neighbor and partner of its historical opponents, Iran and Syria. The quadrilateral alliance is here but its members are different. This is an alliance of Eurasian states: Russia - Turkey - Iran - Syria.
Since the end of the last decade, Russia has made desperate efforts to return to Middle Eastern politics as a superpower. Thus it has, for example, strengthened relations with Iran and Syria.
This policy reached its apogee when, in defiance of Washington's fierce protests, Moscow cooperated with Tehran in the nuclear sphere, and in a pointedly royal manner embraced Bashar Asad during his visit to Russia in January 2005, writing off Syria's debt and signing the agreement on missile deliveries to Damascus (see below).
Turkey, in its turn, is panicking after Saddam Hussein's overthrow, fearing creation of a Kurdish state in Iraq. Aspiring to prevent such a succession of events, Ankara has been drawn to Iran and Syria. Sworn enemies turned if not friends, then allies, in almost no time.
Iran has committed to adding the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) to its " terrorist organizations" list. Turkey has done the same concerning the Iranian group "Mojahedin Halk". The parties have announced an upcoming doubling of the volume of their trade..
American attempts to prevent this visit and the subsequent rapprochement between recent enemies was a failure.

Healthcare reform is needed and should definitely be discussed. As long as it doesn't become another MEDICARE or a freeby that we, the working people have to subsidize for the remianing people on welfare, unemployment etc.

I know Obama is considering some form of free health care for the above and it would just reinforce the WELFARE-STATE mentality. This would result in higher taxes for the working portion of the population, in addition to having to pay for their own health care plan available through their employer. This is usually the approach take by all democrats and Obama is not any different.

What I'm hoping is to see a comprihensive solution for everyone, under all situations.

Health-care reform is s good idea. We need some rather clear goals in order to move forward. One, cut cost through better information systems. Second, make it available to all Americans i.e. rural areas. and finally, seek greater preventive care through research, diet and exercise. Perhaps we can create more jobs and a healthier public like Canada.

We will get there but patience will be a neccessary ingreidient in order to make it to the fininsh line--We will get there. I don't know anyone, with a brain, who can deny, with an honest fact, that we as a country have evolved or "devolved" to the place where we need socialized medicine. The funny part about all of this is that Congress, the very home of those who enjoy "socialized medicne" want to deny it for the rest of the country. it is good enough for them and their children but when it is presented to the American people it suddenly becomes a moral felony......GO FIGURE.

    • Posted By: CharInOhio @ 05/16/2009 7:24:34 PM

Congress doesnt have "socialized medicene"......they have a paid plan like anyone else does. Blue Cross, Aetna, or whatever.....it may be free....I dont know ....but I was a County employee and the plan is NOT free by ANY means and I dont think many other IF any state ones ect are.....maybe Congress' is....but I doubt that too. Obama has said this is a PAID for plan....its NOT FREE. This means people STILL WILL NOT BUY health care....they want it FREE !!!!! All this will do is be a deterrent for those of us who HAVE health care and PAY FOR IT to continue to be able to recieve it....cause companies will DROP the plans and FORCE you onto "Obama Care". Your doctors will STOP practicing cause it wont be competitive any longer and they cannot "make enough money" to suit them. The number of doctors will DECREASE and you will be seen by some witch doctor at best IF THAT. You will wait weeks and months for the simplest appointments.....and care will be denied if you are "too old" or whatever....

When Obama SAID you would have the "same health care as Congress has" ....HE LIED TO YOU.....that is TOTALLY UNAFFORDABLE......a plan like I PAY FOR.....would NOT be affordable to the average person......granted some is paid for by my employer and some I pay. BUT realize.....my employer portion of the payment would be OUT OF THE PICTURE when talking about covering everyone else !!!!! The GOVERNMENT would be picking up that part of things and there is NO WAY.....it could be afforded !!!! So Obama LIED plain and simple.....Not ONLY that....but anyone "eligible" for anything Obama has to offer.....IS ALREADY RECIEVING FREE HEALTH CARE...ITS CALLED WELFARE, MEDICAID ECT......This is simply a way to PUNISH those of us lucky enough to HAVE AND PAY FOR health care and bring us down to waiting in nasty clinics full of drug abusers, homeless, and other lowlifes as we wait for health care also.....a way to keep us from CHOOSING our OWN DOCTORS ect.....

And no, I dont abuse my health care plan.....I rarely go unless totally necessary.....so WHY should I pay for everyone else that runs to the emergency rooms with runny noses? And why should I be forced to have welfare benefit care? Why should MY health care be RATIONED? I am not an abuser of it ?????? They should RATION and MONITOR those with FREE health care.....Emergency visits should be DENIED unless its a real emergency ect......this would cut WAY BACK on costs.....DENY illegals from recieving care.....they would NOT COME HERE and would stay in their OWN countries if we didnt support them once they cross the borders !!!!!

I shouldnt be punished for PAYING for my health care and USING IT "right"........bottom line !!!!

This is all about how to wreck an industry, force down privacy! At some point the emerging NAZI PARTY in Germany had to push out traditional German practices and norms. One casualty was the German flag, to be replaced by the infamouse swastica flag.
No suprize the fist swastika flag to fly over an official building--replacing the traditional national flag-- was over the governments main medical administration building!
Translation: "We, The Nazis, OWN your bodies now, you stupid sons o ***! And we can medically calculate that's exactly what you are now, from now on! Open you mouth and say 'ARF!' "

The big problem is NOT Obama; it's the Senate. Its clear that some Senators are for sale, some Senators, including Blue Dog Democrats, have hung a red light outside of their offices. The Senate's procedural rules enable a small minority of sell-outs to betray the country. We need to eliminate all the procedural rules. We need to demand an accountable Senate. If Obama's attempts to reach out to the other side of the aisle wind up with bitten fingers, then he needs to resort to the nuclear option whenever the Senate decided to go agains the public interest.

Hey everyone who thinks its a bad idea to have great healthcare that no one can afford I remind you that even the lowliest immigrant can walk in and get great care. You have the same option. You can get the exact same care the illegal immigrant gets. Yes you have to pay for it but it is your freaking life get over it.

Obamas' campain promises have all but been totally trashed, now that he has gotten the office. We believed that he was against the idea of more American military boots on the ground and now, with the increases in Afganistan and the lack of reduction in Iraq, we have more military forces fighting than when president bush was messing things up.

No taxes on the majority of taxpayer, only those making over $250,000.00, that is completely out of the question now and more clearly he will be raising taxes significantly while adding the realistic tax of all his ridiculous bailout decisions and the subsequent inflation have this promise literally a bald faced lie!

Bush destoyed our economy by insisting on not only rebuilding of Iraq but unilateraly desiding to saddle the taxpayer with attempting to bring democracy to that worthless country of worthless human beings but Obama's brainstorm includes the building of new types of economy building efforts(again at our expense) and adding 12 million new citizens that will be able to collect social security as well as instant welfare and to forget the 8 million unemployed American citizens.

What does it take to get a representative for those who pay the pay check of that representative?

If you took the time to read the President???s agenda, you would know that he always campaigned to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan and remove the troops in Iraq by a specific time table, not just remove the troops all willy nilly, that would be grossly irresponsible.
The bailout???s were not his idea and once committed to, must be seen through to the end, again if he did not see it through it would be grossly negligent.
The thing that amazes most with your comment is that it shows how little effort you have put forth to do your own research, you obviously are internet savvy look at the campaign web site to see what actual campaign promises were made

The bailouts of the automakers was something that Bush said "no" to and yet against the overwelming poll results of no better than 30% for those bailouts, onward to union payback, plain and simple!

I agree with xeyeldinTX. I would like to know how much money private health insurance companies spend on lobbying? How much money to they spend on PAC's, campaign contributions, and outright bribery? It's no wonder the Senators up on Capitol Hill like private health care so much. They get all sorts of "perks."What's more their health care is funded by the tax payers.
According to a recent WHO study, the nation with the best health care system is France, and even the French health care system is cheaper than ours. Contrary to what Galasso believes, demographically contemporary France is not an ethnically homogenous population - one reason Obama's election raises new questions and concerns there. Our health care system is the most expensive in the world. In terms of quality we are number 37. (Both Canada and Britian scored higher than the US.) Cuba hit 39th place, but their infant mortality rate is lower than ours.
According to an article written by Jaime Court published in the Los Angeles times, late January 2009, we'd save a lot of money if we just permitted everyone to buy into Medicare. (We could institute a number of money-saving reforms in Medicare too, starting with Medicare D and Medicare PLUS plans.) The public deserves an opportunity to opt out of the private system. They deserve a say-so in how their medical care dollars are spent. It's the public, not the Wall Street stock brokers, who should have the final word.

Through the Health Insurance companies only about $70 of every $100 in premiums go towards medical services for the payer. A portion of your premiums go to paying grossly excessive salaries to executives (United Health Care's CEO last year pulled down 11 BILLION, plus perks like a free car - guess he couldn't afford one - and financial advisor fees) and to advertising dollars. Medicare, while not perfect, delivers roughly $90 for every $100 spent. For the poster who talks about the inability of government to administer anything and points to SS as an example a little history might help. Ronald Reagan after his huge tax cuts and spending spree found himself with a huge deficit. In order to mask its size the Great One took the advice of Greenspan, and borrowed from SS. And now, since those "IOUs" remain unpaid, SS is fast approaching insolvency. Fixing SS would take very little, either a 1% increase to every payer, or the far superior idea of lifting the cap. You may not like the idea of paying more, but the reality is we would just be paying those IOUs for the glorious plans of Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton and Bush 43. We are the government folks, we must rest control from the corporations or continue down the path of becoming their slaves. It really is a simple choice.

Mr. Alter - - I hope you are recovering well and I wish you a complete recovery in the near future. I'm not sure that people realize that you have a persoanl stake in development of the health care plan. One of the most expensive aspects of health care that is rarely discussed is tort reform. When it is discussed, it is usually dismissed (by trial lawyers), however, as an insignificant amount when in fact it is a huge sum of money. Surgeons pay very high malpractice insurance rates and all of these costs plus the shamefully high awards that juries dole out have to come from someplace - ie. those of us who actually pay. John Edwards is a multimillionaire due largely to the sympathy of emotional, uneducated juries. There has to be a reality check on this practice of raiding the bank accounts of the hospitals, doctors, and health care professionals by the aggressive, avaricious legal profession. It is likely to remain a "non-topic" however given the fact that the Trial Lawyers Assoc are big contributors to the party now in power.

Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve niether. The old maxim even applies to healthcare. If we cede control of our health care to the government then we deserve to die in pain because, just like the advocates admit, old people need to just accept it. Under a current system, if I decide my insurance is terrible, I can find a different provider. Under a government system? I'd be stuck, hating life, and so will most of you. However, instead of firing the govt, you would go ask them to fix it. You deserve nothing. Don't force me to pay for the smokers, the alcoholics, the addicts, or the fatties.

"Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve niether."

Is different song than conservatives sing in 2002, yes?

      • Posted By: HenryMiller @ 05/15/2009 4:14:49 PM

/True/ conservatives believe "Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve niether." George Bush and his administration were a long, long, way from being true conservatives. They basically stole the good name of Conservatism and ruined it.

        • Posted By: bahanson @ 05/16/2009 2:07:50 AM

Stay on topic. We're not talking about the patriot act. (Which by the way doesn't infringe on ANY of my liberties, it's just a big waste of time and money.) We're talking about government healthcare. The biggest danger is that it will get away from us, like Soc Sec, and medicare have. Politicians never want to break down the cost, and they never want to tax us fairly for it(over half of households won't owe a tax this year, show me with a calculator how that's "fair".) It will become a financial pit quickly.

Not everyone wants to go the socialist government run system you Marxists want so badly. How would he pay for it? Borrow another 5 trillion or so from China? For what? To provide universal health care to illegals? So we can start rationing care? No thanks.

Good point. So, who is going to cover the cost of the bread. The guy who tilled the soil and baked the bread.

Talk about the grasshopper and the ant!!

  • Posted By: HenryMiller @ 05/15/2009 4:07:56 PM

The author is right: now is not the time to compromise on health care. And I don't plan to. If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what happens when government, famous for its utter inability to control costs in anything it does, intrudes into it even further than it already has. Government "red tape" is a cliche for a reason and would just about paralyse the health care system.

I don't think American citizens are going to tolerate being required to pay hugely more, through taxes, if not directly, for poorer health care.

So, no, I'm not going to compromise--I remain unalterably opposed to any attempt on the part of a famously incompetent government to meddle in my arrangements for my own health care!

  • Posted By: RO in Reno @ 05/15/2009 2:57:42 PM

I could not agree more with Mr Alter there should be no compromise, it is time to provide health care to virtually every American regardless of their economic status.
With 50 million uninsured and that many again under insured, that amounts to fully 30% of the entire population.
It is time for this administration to make health care the priority not the insurance company profits.
Relieving the burden of Health care coverage from the backs of business itself will have a profound effect on the competitiveness of US companies.
Obama needs to take off his "attorney" hat and put on his "For the people hat" and get the job done...

  • Posted By: marley07 @ 05/15/2009 12:14:04 PM

Oh you have breast cancer? Sorry that drug is too expensive. Welcome to socialized, government run healthcare.

    • Posted By: JimF @ 05/15/2009 2:35:58 PM

That argument would be more persuasive if insurance companies weren't denying needed health care. Ironically, given your example of cancer treatment, there was a news item yesterday on a woman who was denied cancer treatment by an insurance company -- retroactively -- under the dishonest ruse of not reporting another, totally unrelated, minor health issue many years prior.
