    For as long as I am alive on this earth, I will never be convinced that that this man, select members of his administration, as well as individuals in Israel were not aware of the impending attack on the World Trade Center.

    For as long as I am alive on this earth, I will suffer the shame and humiliation that this man, select members of his administration, as well as individuals in Israel have placed on my pride and my honor in being an American citizen.

However, I do want to remind you that just as I decided to vote Dem this time around there are many Reps reading these blogs who may decide to vote Dem for the first time in 2012. My suggestion would be that the Dem posters such as yourself and others here handle the Republican posters with kid gloves and be kind and not post offensive remarks.           If you take a good look at the voting results per county you would see that many Texans voted on our side (Houstan, San Antonio, and Austin come to mind), where as here in teh blue state of Oregon, many of the counties on the east andsouth sides of OR voted red, luckilly those of us in Portland, Eugene, and the north coast have the numbers in this state.

          My point: every state is divided on these issue, so there is no to demonize all Texans for the convictions of a few....

          From what I've read, it isn't much. Texas turned down most of the money in the porkulus package.

            The money in the stimulus package is small potatos:

            "In fiscal year 2004 a little over one-third (35 percent) of Texas state revenues came from the federal government for a total of $21.9 billion. Given the size of these federal funds and the fact that they are distributed by specific federal agencies for use in particular areas, there can be no doubt that they shape what the Texas bureaucracy does and its overall structure."             By seceding, Texas would lose the funds that support military bases, NASA, maintenance for interstate highways, agricultural subsidies, etc. The citizens of texas would lose Social Security, Medicare, and Pell grants, just to name a few.

            Secession, for Texas, would be lunacy.

It just struck me as funny that Quid was lecturing on attacking for typos when he is attacking for attacking for typos. A dumbed down version of 'who's on first.'

                Why is it you find it necessary to resort to the calling of names? I would suggest that before you start throwing around names like 'simpleton' you educate yourself on the difference between your and you're. That way you won't reveal to us all that you're an ignorant simpleton yourself. lol

                  Let me explain somethng to you... people here think and type fast. Most don't worry about a typo or misplaced word. In fact, every thread is full of them. So if that bothers you, then prepare to stay bothered. Whining about it will only bring you grief.

                  Something else, you are very new here (as in today) and most of your half a dozen posts or so are telling people what's on topic and what isn't. People talk about what they wish here and don't need a new boy coming in here telling them what they can and can't post. Capish?

    I believe there will be a time the majority of this country will look back on "W's" term and consider him to be one of the greatest presidents of all time. Our media is driven by the left and the most of the polls and approval ratings are generated by such agencies. Both media and the left were so quick to criticize the man they fail to see the bottom line:
    1) The first 6 years of his term were the best 6 years this economy has seen in the past 200 years.
    2)Since 911 there was no successful terrorist attempt on this country's soil. Oh and yes and thats because of Waterboarding and effective management.
    3) The last two years after the Republicans lost control of the house we were introduced to Ried, Palowako, Barney Fife and company. I will never forget Nancy Palowako's first statement as Speaker of the House to say that the Democrats were going to lower gas prices.....It went to $4 a gallon. We have never seen the amount of corruption and money grabbing in such a momumental effect since January.
    3) Everyone criticized Bush for the costly war and that was a contributing reason for the recession. Wake up people Obama spent more than all of the combined Presidents together in the FIRST 100 Days!!! Its all mainly going to build a BIGGER goverment (Gov Buildings, Parks, useless ETC..) which will result in higher taxes forever.
    4)He was worthy of being a Mentor because he never waived on his commitment to keeping this country safe showing ethics. Never sucumbing to the critics unlike Obama who changes his tune like the day of the week.
    5) Even with a high 73% negative approval rating Bush showed grace to welcome Obama into Washington and insured a smooth transition to a man who complained that America was a mean spirited country all to his fault.

    With all of this said was to think I'm a 100% satisfied with his performance H. E. double hockey sticks NO. He never did squat about securing our border. Thousands of illegal immigrants and worthless ass lazy people here have about Bankrupted our Soicial Security, Welfare and medical care system. All of which he could of been proactive in solving. I dont know if you looked at how much you have paid into Social Security over the years but Im well over 150K and know I will never see it when I need it. I also know Obama wants to take control of our 401k. I can just see the tax on that or corruption of taking our money now. Looks like there's going to be a ton of competition for Walmart Greeters in the future.

    In closing its obvious George W Bush was an excellent President.

    The American public owe it to their former national President, to peruse his memoirs, when they are completed. After all, Presidents have to be given the occasion, to explain their tenures as president. I have always felt, that most people are very sincere, and honest with themselves, and hence, with others, too. I am sure the world will look at George W Bush dispassionately, and that he will find peace. I was about to make a bigger cardinal mistake, than the elementary school child.     I love people who think they are superior Mr. Fourth Horseman, but it is a democracy so people can have different views and majority wins. Be satisfied Obama won and stop trambling down the party who didn't, because the world changes and if Obama doesn't make it work, then you will see the majority turn the other way. Because the people making the difference in the vote aren't the hardcore from either party - it is the independant looking for the right point of view. And your view of superiority seems to be running all the way up the ranks and the level headed viewers find it more distasteful, the higher it goes.

Handing out money to people who could never pay it back is what started the housing crisis, which in turn fueled so many other economic problems.

                School systems, police departments, hospitals and the like are basic elements of any society, even capitalist. Paul is right however, bailing out the banks, auto makers, insurance companies and forking over billions to any state that will take it in exchange for power and control (which is why Texas turned down most of the stimulus) is what defines socialism.

                  Check your facts. The economy went into recession in 3/08. Lehmann Brothers went under in 8/ or 9/08. Between $700B and $1.5T were poured into the banks, automakers and AIG, no strings attatched. The Bush admin changed the corportate leadership of AIG and numerous major banks. In the 10 months since the recession started The B ush administration never acted to measure the health or prospective future needs to shore up any of those industries, and no one had any idea when Bush's administration ended.

                  Within 2 months of inauguration, Obama's administration had figured out what needed to be done, and had completed the stress tests to measure not only current capital needs but also projected needs for a worse case scenario. Yep, in two months, it had been figured out.

                  Only a tiny percentage of the money given to those industries was given by the Obama admin. Unlike the Bush admin just giving them buckets of no-strings money, the Obama admin gave the auto industries just enough to keep them afloat while they were required to determine what was necessary to become viable and not be perpetually dependent on free money from the government, and to come up with a plan to become viable and thereby justifying more money from the government.

                  In the meantime, the public was prepared for the prospect that they might have to go into bankruptcy, do a court supervised Chapter 11reorganization. This is the traditional method, not the executive branch dictating. And the Obama announced that the car warranties would be backed by the government so that buyers would have no fear that a bankruptcy could leave them with no warranty.

                  The auto industry had run itself into the ground over the last 40 years. The only way to get them viable was/is chapter 11, just like virtually every airline and many other major companies have done successfully. The alternative would be perpetual government subsidies/nationalization.

                  The difference between the waste and ignorance, and money spent by the Bush adminitstration, versus the analytical, practical, methodical approach and small percentage of prop-up funds put in by the Obama administration, are as different as night and day.

                  The willing disregard of what Bush did and did not do, and unwillingness to compare that to the Obama admin, is laughable. More Rush no-think sloganeering.

          In fact Starman2 the bill McCain was the cosponsor of died in committee that had enough R votes to clear committee without a single D vote. The guy who later became McCain's presidential campaign manager led the lobbying effort to get Rs to keep it from leaving committee. He was paid $35k per month to do that, and that compaign succeeded. It never got out of that R controlled committee.
