The most effective censorship is the censorship you don't know about. If what you can learn is controlled by a government, corporation, religion, you won't know what you're missing. You will likely believe what you're told.

The printing press blasted through enforced ignorance. It lauched the Protestant Reformation, the Peasant Revolt, the creation of the Middle Class, etc. Europe changed from a continent where 95% of the population lived in virtual slavery as peasants to one where 95% are relatively free.

The computer/Internet is our era's printing press. Thank goodess there are groups out there that are keeping an eye on what we aren't allowed to see. Without freedom of information, there is no freedom of choice, meaning there is no freedom.
