Fourteen footloose films that make all the right moves

The Wayans brothers are taking to task the admittedly trite trappings of the dance movie this weekend with their satirical Dance Flick. And since no one's stepping in to defend the genre, we'll do the honors: can you honestly say you didn't feel for Jennifer Grey when she "carried a watermelon," or get lost in Patrick Swayze's hungry eyes (at right) in Dirty Dancing? Or that you've never snickered at the improbable plot of Flashdance? Glazed over with prom memories during Footloose? Click through to view the 14 most captivating dance movies ever made—from the golden olden days of Fred Astaire to the breathtaking street stunts in Stomp the Yard. We still love 'em, no matter what the Wayanses say.

Le soleil paraît dans le chant.

    Le soleil paraît
    dans le chant
    d'un ruisseau
    réservé, et
    partout cette
    image me donne
    l'harmonie de
    la fugitive neige
    qui rappelle
    la jeunesse et
    une son hésitant.

Maybe not the top 14 (why fourteen, anti-Letterman?) but I still love Mad Hot Ballroom and The Tango Lesson.
