Does anyone know if he Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in #1 is the same person referenced as Khomeini in #3 -- are the 'a' and 'o' interchangeable or are they different people?
Power and public discourse in the Islamic Republic are dominated by fewer than two dozen heavyweights, ranging from ayatollahs to entertainers (and one TV network).

this is a very stupid list and incomplete at its best. Way to create another oversimplified caricature of Iran (my country). You have not included Karroubi, or someone like Shirin Ebadi.... then you threw in a sportscaster (whose name I've never heard before and then mehran modiri?!) I hope people who read this take it with a HUGE grain of salt.
These descriptions are a whitewash To describe Ahamdinejad without mentioning his racist, anti- Semitic, genocidal threats against Israel is shameful. Raftsanjani should also be described as one who has in the past waved the nuclear sword.
7 in the list are Ayatollahs and three of them are representative of conservative radical Ayatollahs view in their positions. You guessed it, the rest work for Ayatollahs too.
Poor country that would go under Ayatollahs' ruling!
