I knew years ago this would happen. There product is inferior. Too many boondoggle trips to play golf in the winter, fake business trips with nothing accomlished. Had an engineer I knew for GM and he did not do a darn thing when he came out. Used to laugh on how he got all his trips whenever he wanted for free, brought out his family. Miss management on GM's part and now thousand of people are affected. Darn shame GM, YOU did this, not the economy ! YOU !

If GM difficulty could provide any lesson for the whole macro-economy; it would be a lesson of humility. Once it was the largest auto company; now it is on the verge of bankrupcy and overtaken by a company once was not even ranked second. It is all because of complacency, lack of vision, and low adaptability.
The same situation occurs in many other arenas. There are more than 19 millions vacant forclosed properties; enough to fill the whole population of Canada. And who can guess how we adapt? More restricted travelling and immigration are among those adaptations.
If GM difficulty could provide any lesson for the whole macro-economy; massive investor-class travelling and immigration should be encouraged. It is probably the quickest way to turn this massive problem around and turn weakness into strength. If we have a nice but empty house and money wants to come in; we do not close the door; and ask what color it is or where it comes from. We just need to open the door.

All this talk about how bond holders will take a "Hair Cut" in the failure of GM is bogus. The bond holders were betting that GM's continued reliance on huge gas guzzlers as products lost that bet, pure and simple. They need to take thier loss and go on with this now shattered life. The American auto industry business model has been unsustainable for many years. That's how Asian cars got thier foot hold in the American market to begin with. Now, GM's bond holders are screaming it's not fair. The risk they took investing in GM was written on the wall for decades. Now it's written in the newspapers and in bacnkruptcy filings. Do you think they can read the writing now?
