Chris Dodd follows the same despicable path of his father. Thomas J. Dodd took the Nazi's tyrannical gun act, which was passed in 1938, had it translated into English and almost word for word passed illegal legislation against American citizens that we know as the Gun Contol Act of 1968.

Chris Dodd is of the same treasonous, elitist mold of his father as his voting record against our inalienable rights is undeniable. Additionally, Chris Dodd was instrumentall responsible for destroying our country's economy by working with ACORN and Bill Clinton to pass the amendments to the Communisty Reinvestment Act that gave Clinton's administration to extort banks in handing out loans to people who could never pay them back. During that time, Obama was suing banks for the same purpose.

Traitors must be kicked out of our lives!

Nice attempt at rehabilitating Dodd, Evan. But I don't think it's on a par with declaring Barack Obama a god.

  • Posted By: gommy goomy @ 06/09/2009 10:14:27 AM

Chris Dodd is a CROOK and a PIG. Just like his Father was. Then again, I defy ANYONE, to name a DEMOCRAT, who ISN"T a CROOK. What a pathetic joke the Democrat Party is. Lying, thieving SCUM. Every damn one of them. And, don't forget who this DIRTBAG, Evan Thomas is. His Grandfather CREATED the COMMUNIST PARTY, USA. That's all you need to know about him.

  • Posted By: Mainer1776 @ 06/09/2009 8:28:30 AM

Dodd is totally corrupt! If he was a Republican, Evan Thomas would have pictured him as being deserving of Leavenworth, which he is. Dodd has betrayed all principles of decency. He, in particular, is partially responsible for the mortgage meltdown.

He SHOULD be in prison, not in the Senate!

My sweet Lord, can you suck up to these low-life Democrats any more? Must the brown on your nose reach all the way to your eyeballs? Let's have a followup article, where you can try to blame George Bush and Dick Cheney for Dodd's lack of integrity, favorable treatment, and hypocrisy over all of it. The man is not worthy of a Senate seat, and you ought to be calling for his resignation - NOT trying to explain how he is a victim of circumstance. Jeez Louise.

Once again the Republicans should be careful what they wish for. Dodd is a puppy dog next to the Senators that will move up in the leadership role. Two things happen when you lose a Senator with seniority. One the state suffers. two, younger senators move up in seniority and plague the opposing party for many years longer than the outgoing senator would have. in this particular case, in my opinion, we Dems would lose a problem, retain the Seat and help younger senators. It's all good. let's face it, Dodd should go. he's been problematic for a few years now.

Of course it took both parties, but you are incorrect who shoulders the most blame. The housing crisis is what fueled the mess we're in, and Bush took legislation to congress a dozen times beginning in 2003 trying to stop insane lending practices to avert the coming crisis. Chris Dodd and Barney Frank voted party line, and with a few lame brained liberal republicans, defeated it every time. That leaves Dodd and Frank shouldering a large part of the blame.

      • Posted By: enjoyoutdoors @ 06/01/2009 10:21:43 AM

The housing crises is just a "cover story" and a convenient political tool. and ignorantcitizens, unfortunately lunaware they listent to a propaganda arm help pass on the lies.

Get informed people! This was a great theft of our funds with many trillions of derivitates worth 50x more behind the scenes. THAT is what they are afraid of coming to the surface, The bad mortgages were never enough to take down these banks. It was the theft of value through derivitives that made the investor class afraid to move.

It is aall to easy for the corporate class to evoid scrutiny by stirring up the populous to blame their fellows instead of going after the real crooks. Fox is just a propaganda tool for this behavior. Our country will continue to fail until the ignorant wak up.

        • Posted By: Fortunate Fox @ 06/01/2009 5:52:44 PM

Yeah, tell the millions of families that are being foreclosed on that they're "only a cover story." Did you see Frank and Dodd in there trying to stop Fannie and Freddie from lending billions to people that could never pay it back? No. The housing crisis is the match that lit the dynamite, and just about everything that has gone south can be tied to it.

          • Posted By: Uday Salizar @ 06/03/2009 10:14:04 AM

Is Americans cannot read contract, or is cannot do math? Is Barney Frank is the crooked, but Americans is for chewing the paint chips, yes?

      • Posted By: George Dorn @ 06/01/2009 6:58:03 PM

"The housing crisis is what fueled the mess we're in, and Bush took legislation to congress a dozen times beginning in 2003 trying to stop insane lending practices to avert the coming crisis. "

Then why did Graham, Leech, and Bliley - all republicans - repeal the Glass-Steagal Act in the first place? Clinton signed it, but the GOP pushed it in the first place. A plague on both their houses.

But don't pretend your heroes have clean hands.

        • Posted By: Fortunate Fox @ 06/01/2009 7:18:53 PM

Because to everyone involved, including Clinton and Graham at the time (in the 90's) seemed like a good idea. However, the fact is Bush saw it coming and tried to stop it, and that's a fact. Can you say the same for Dodd and Frank. No.

          • Posted By: Uday Salizar @ 06/02/2009 2:25:45 PM

Is Clinton and Graham too stupid for read history book for 1929?

      • Posted By: Want A Change @ 06/01/2009 11:00:25 AM

Fortunate Fox, you REALLY need to stop being a historical revisionist and take some responsibility for your vote in 2000 & 2004: you reap what you sow!!! The GOP, headed by the efforts of Phil Gramm (paid for by the financial industry), made sure there weren't any regulations on the mortgage/finance industry coming to the floor for a vote. Bush spent like a drunken sailor, repealed regulations and gave trillions to big business and the wealthy class: like I said, you reap what you sow. Fiscal conservatives??? NOT A CHANCE. The GOP are the leaders in Fleecing America.

        • Posted By: Fortunate Fox @ 06/01/2009 5:50:01 PM

Not so. Yes, Phil Graham brought the legislation, and Clinton signed it. Everyone thought in the beginning the gravy train would never end... however Bush was the first to see the writing on the wall and took legislation to congress to curb lending practices a dozen times beginning in 2003. McCain did the same thing in 2006, and it was Dodd and Frank that headed up the efforts to kill the bills. That's all a matter of record.

It took Obama only 2 months to out spend Bush's 8 years, and you say Bush spent money like water? LOL!!!

    • Posted By: zz333 @ 05/31/2009 9:02:33 AM

You may be right, however I can guarantee you that the Dems. are rotton to the core. It will be you and I who will be paying for it after these folks are done nationalizing every aspect of this country.

Show me a Dem. state or city that is a showcase for good governance.

In 1966 I went to work at the then rate of $3,000 per year. Averages that year were $ 2700 to $ 7300. I think Sen. Dodd could have made it on $ 30,000. No pity here. He had his hand in the till.

  • Posted By: DinkyDow @ 06/01/2009 12:58:27 PM

Mark in Montclair. Most of us in Connecticut feel as you do that Dodd is an embarrassment to our state. It???s time to remove both our senators. Term limits anyone?

    • Posted By: Uday Salizar @ 06/02/2009 2:30:26 PM

      "Term limits anyone?"

Is good idea, is cannot win election any other way.

  • Posted By: marley07 @ 06/01/2009 2:25:28 PM

There is not saving Dodd's reputation. He is done. If he does keep his spot, this country is a joke. You have to wonder if it isn't already a joke the way Obama and clowns are running things. Dodd, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Schumer..and Obama all need to go and go now.

CHRIS DODD IS A CROOKED POLITICIAN WITH A VERY BIG LIBERAL MOUTH.

CHRIS DODD IS LIKE MOST OF HIS POLITICAL MOB FRIENDS IN CONGRESS; EXCEPT, HE IS MORE CORRUPT.

WHEN YOU ARE STEALING CHICKENS FROM THE HEN HOUSE, ITS BEST TO BE QUIET DODD.

    OoPS ! TOO LATE.

LIBERALS LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THEIR LIBERAL VIEWS -------- VERY GOOD !

PREZ. OBAMA IS SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT A MURDERING LATE TERM ABORTION DOCTOR WAS KILLED ?

SEEMS FITTING ! HOW MANY INNOCENT CHILDREN WERE MURDERED BY THAT ABORTION DOCTOR ?

ITS A GREAT DAY FOR AMERICA AND A BAD DAY FOR LIBERALS.

    • Posted By: Want A Change @ 06/01/2009 11:05:49 AM

Interesting how Republicans, Conservatives and the GOP are all up in arms over the deaths of babies during an abortion but will do NOTHING to stop brothers, sons, fathers & uncles from being sent to fight a war for the economic prosperity of the wealthy class & the corporations they run, direct and govern. You want to protect babies but you won't protect the human beings that are deeply entrenched in our lives?? Arrogance, hypocrisy and healthy dose of self-rightousness are the core values of conservatives that continue to side with the GOP.

      • Posted By: Dave in NM @ 06/01/2009 12:22:03 PM

You've identified the core principle of the Republican Party: Life is precious, but only until the moment of birth. The two biggest issues they (openly) promote are abortion and guns (making the rich richer is, of course, the only REAL issue, but uneducated poor people won't vote for them on that plank). They're wrong, factually and morally, and they're nasty about it (see all-caps shouting person, above) when they think they can convince people they've won a round. Sore winners, REALLY sore losers, and only pro-human when the human is a fetus. Wow - no wonder their political fortunes are plummeting.

Show me some PROOF about Dodd, and we'll talk.

  • Posted By: Galasso @ 06/01/2009 11:03:55 PM

Kennedy and Dodd had "boozy toots"? That's putting it mildly. Look up the "sandwich incident" at La Brasserie restaurant in December 1985 where they attacked a waitress after getting sloshed. These two alcoholics would not have needed embalming if they took a dirt nap back then because they were pickled most of the time. Teddy Kennedy has been out of control for most of his life. Dodd needs to mercifully retire.

Well, the left wing fascist press is at it again. Lead with a biting title then turn the article into a complete apologist propaganda puff piece praising the crook instead. When republicans don't pay their taxes, they are crooks, when Geithner and orher democrats don't pay their taxes, the code is just too complex for even the treasury secretary and half he cabinet nominees to fathom.

Now Dodd is just a victim of 'unfortunate' coincidence. He must really be in trouble for Nitweek to come to his aid. The democrats are full of crooks, including Reid, Pelosi, and the rest of the leadership.

    • Posted By: George Dorn @ 06/02/2009 2:18:51 PM

" the left wing fascist press "

      LOL.

  • Posted By: tired and old @ 06/01/2009 10:40:43 PM

I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT PEOPLE ( LIBERALS ) WILL CLASSIFY YOU AS A REPUBLICAN FOR HAVING AN OPINION DIFFERENT THEN THEIR OWN.

I VOTED FOR THE OREO PREZ THIS YEAR AND HAD TO REGISTER AS A DEMOCRAT TO DO IT; NOW , I HAVE RETURNED AND REREGISTERED AS AN INDEPENDENT.

I OWE MY LOYALTY TO MYSELF AND MY CREATOR -------- FIRST AND FOREMOST.

DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ARE IN THE SAME CAN OF WORMS.

POLITICIANS ARE CROOKED BASTARDS ------------------ PERIOD !

  • Posted By: tired and old @ 06/01/2009 10:22:49 PM

KILLING A LATE TERM ABORTION PROVIDER IS NOT THE SAME AS KILLING A TERRORIST; KILLING INNOCENT CHILDREN EMERGING FROM A WOMANS WOMB IS A TERRORIST LIKE ACT.

THANK YOU ! TO THOSE BRAVE ENOUGH TO KILL LATE TERM ABORTIONISTS.

WOMEN ALLOWING LATE TERM ABORTIONS ARE NOT FIT TO BE MOTHERS.

Chris Dodd has no reputation to defend.

He should slink back off to whatever wet rock he slithered out from under.

What's happened to Dodd is really unfortunate so I'm glad Newsweek took the time to investigate and write this article. I'm not from Connecticut so I'm not a member of his voting pool but seriously, the things he allegedly did are no different from what the vast majority of other politicans do. In fact, it seems pretty minor - it's not like the guy is taking huge bribes from companies and lying left and right. And it's sad how ppl are now picking him apart and his former "friends" are jumping ship.

  • Posted By: Teedoffon1 @ 06/01/2009 12:17:31 PM

As for me I think 99% of politicians give the other 1% a bad name. If they want to regain their reputation with me then every stinkin' one of them should have to work for free. Their pay should be tied to the debt. If we are a creditor nation then they should get their pay. As long as our country is in the red then they should not receive any compensation. And I think this should be retroactive to cover past Presidents, the President, as well as past and present representatives of both houses of congress. Now for Dodd, what has he done that has been any different than any other politician? Some have committed crimes against our country and gotten away with it. If ordinary citizens pulled some of the stuff they are pulling in Washington D.C, they would be locked up and made to swallow the key..

  • Posted By: sieg6529 @ 06/01/2009 12:15:25 PM

Leave it up to his constituents. If they think he is doing a good enough job, he will be voted back into the senate. I don't think he has much of a chance (that bonus loophole looks awful on his record), but the voters will decide.

  • Posted By: Teedoffon1 @ 06/01/2009 12:08:01 PM

I always thought that politicians pretty much have the same reputation, "BAD". Like they say 99% of politicians give the other 1% a bad name. To me for politicians to have a good reputation, they a going to have to represent the citizens of the USA. Like, when I watched them grilling the CEOs a few months back and telling them they need to work for a dollar a year, which by the way I think most should, then our representatives from the President on down should have to work for a dollar a year as long as we are running a deficit. Heck, they should even get paid until our country is back in the green ink instead of red ink.
