The ridiculous inference to her "mexicanism" is drivel. she is not a mexican. But: she is an advocate of "hispanic" rights, and that is the problem. The "latino" faction is over-runnig our country, and must be stopped, now. Her gosl is to subvert the constitution to suit the demands of all immigrants. Be a minority! Get stuff for free! Come to America, and rape her!

... and by "our" you mean what?

The first thing Clarence Thomas screamed was "high-tech lynching"! He knows how to play the race card to his advantage.

SHE injected ethnicity into the discussion. SHE injected gender into the discussion. SHE implied that her rulings will be "colored" by race and gender. SHE made the declarative statement that because she is a latina that her rulings would be superior to a white man. As a black man, all this race-ist talk is boring and noxious. If a case comes to the Supreme Court that involves a Puerto Rican, will they find favor with HER because HER last name is Sotomayor? Maybe we should expand the Supreme Court to include one judge that symbolizes every lifestyle in America, bi-racial judges of every bi-racial type, an obese judge, an anorexic judge, a midget(just hem the robe) etc....since rulings won't be made based on LAW, but on lifestyle and background. Where was the same degree of support for the beauty contestant, Carrie Prejean? Where was the mantra, "I may not agree with what you say but I'll defend to the death your right to say it?" Where was that? Where? I can't hear you. You're to busy supporting gays, women, Latins, Blacks,,,,,,as long as they are DEMOCRATS. Frauds. Phoneys. Hippocrites. Ideologues. You'll get your Latina judge. In your next editorial you can write about how much you supported Alberto Gonzales. I'd better not hold my breath.

Good article by Ellis Cose. Sotomayor's record as a judge has a lot of interesting twists and turns. The two puzzling cases that need be explained in her confirmantion hearings are the New Haven fire department case and her dissent in the case that would have allowed incarcerated felons to vote. Those two cases need to be explained in detail. The first because the ruling is so vague as to not attach any significant judicial precedence or violation of civil rights and speculates too much - it was a test everyone knew how to prepare for and was a standard Civil Service type exam fr promotion. The latter case involved inmates in a maximum security facility who petitioned the right to vote simply because of racial over-representation of minority groups in the prison. That case upheld state law that takes away voting priviledges of convicted felons (who have abrogated their right to vote by being a societal threat). Sotomayor wrote a dissent in this case that sided with the inmates. Otherwise her record has been reported as being unremarkable by today's standards.

This is the problem that occurs when media acts as advocate, which they have no damned business doing [not if they are to be taken seriously on any other subject at any rate].

For the second time in less than one week, ''close friend'' Ellis Cose acts as this advocate, without lavishing even one spot of ink on what makes this pick worrisome.Indeed,Cose remands his sources to an area within the liberal echo chamber and does not seek out independant and intelligent critique, reaching for other liberals including Jarrett,Sturm,Shaw, and Toobin in order to make his case. Indeed, the liberal Los Angeles Times found it neccesary to lie regarding Republican uneasiness over the Sotomayor pick, inserting self-invented language in an article they did on GOP Sen.Coryun [Tx] and his response to the Sotomayor nomination performed solely to introduce racial intrigue, which is the positively worst usage of the nations fourth estate [ the LA Times has now ''disappeared '' this article with Coruyns offices demanding that it retract and offer correction/apology]. The more that the media acts as cheerleader, the more one should be suspicious of their motives, offering Coses two Sotomayor articles as exhibits one and two as instances of partisan advocacy rather than what constitutes ''news''.

The strongest evidence of a jurist being completely influenced by their background can be found in Justice Clarence Thomas. By his own admission, his deep resentment from years of being made fun of- as a child by other black- being told he looked like a monkey and he was too black has engendered the sort of self-hatred that has dominated all of his decisions. He seems totally determined to get black folk back for the pain they caused him as a child and young man. Indeed, every opportunity that comes before him to deny a future to affirmative action, he denies. He seems obsessed to the point the he has decided he will die with resentment and hatred towards those who hurt him and he is determined that he will afford no black person anything as long as he lives. Few men or women exhibit such unsettled pain at the past discomfort of their youth. It is as if he has never grown up nor gotten past his experiences and he continues to this day to relive them over and over again. As unqualified as he was and is to have a seat on the bench, who knew that the sole reason he accepted the nomination in the first place was so he could get them Blacks back!

Do you have scientific evidence to prove that Thomas is trying to get back at black people or is just your rambling opinion?
