It's hard to know whether Obama's healthcare proposal is naive, hypocritical or simply dishonest.

Highly appreciating the highest ranking of ???Marvelous Statesmanship??? as US President - Barack Obama, with outstandingly passionate, highly responsible & reserved comments without any interference in sovereignty of Iran, in News Conference of 21/6/2009, expressed witnessing concerns with ???Global-Eye??? i.e. a ???Human-Eye??? regarding on-going Regional Peace Policies leading to Global Peace Initiative & Sustainable International Development Process. Of course, these positive policies & moves for ???Development-For-All??? are visibly long-term & long-lasting and Historically recording of remarkable Obama-Administration under your ???foresighted??? Political Leadership of Peoples Government (of the peoples, by the peoples, for the peoples) of United state for ORGANIZING FOR AMERICA, and our new millennium approach & commitment to taking care for better environment on our Planet ??? of an ???un-biased??? Human Earth.

Obviously, strong response by 60 to 77 % and much silent approvals of the rest must be inspiring on highly reserved, responsible and strong stand of your fabulous proceedings on national & international issues especially related with national, regional & international peace & development, Economic development, financial re-structuring and re-organizing with peoples??? friendly ???regulations??? for healthy pace-of-economy???, and especially Research-Oriented Educational development & Health Care Reforms. Consequently it???s national & international ethical responsibility of all who are more than 80% (in my opinion) approving & endorsing your foresighted Political Leadership & brilliant Statesmanship, to come forward joining hands National Spirit i.e. the call-of-time for ORGANIZING FOR AMERICA, with ???above-self??? & ???above-communities??? , 'above-group', 'above-party' & 'opposition just for opposition'.

Health & Education are foundation of organizing of a nation. And any individual-level and 'national-or international-level' institutional sharing in these sectors is a 'productive-investment' for generations to reap benefits on long-term basis.

In fact; Health, Education & Transport are such three sectors of Economy where highest %age of peoples can be adjusted to work, based on factual analytical studies. So,no doubt, it'll be a remarkable example for other countries especially for developing countries and African countries, what President Barack Obama is navigating, thriving & striving for.

We must have to join hands with foresighted & leadership of President Barack Obama and dynamic Obama administration, also concentrating Health Care development policies to control health care high cost, insufficiency of Health care providers for a quality and affordable care as well.

The argument below that there is no right to health care because you can't force someone to provide it doesn't hold. Rights are what we as a nation decide they should be. When people talk about a "right" to healthcare, I think what's meant is that we *want* healthcare to be treated as a right, i.e. guaranteed -- within limits that we define. This is in the service of the common good. We make a collective decision precisely *not* to refuse to help, just as we decide it would be good to fund the military, the schools, the firefighters and the police. This is socialization of the financing of these services that we all need. In theory we could refuse to fund the police and you would say there is no right to police. OK. But that's not the kind of society we choose. Same goes for health care.

It IS time to take to the streets. It's our right to healthcare, not a privilege. It's even in the way we do things now that it's not a privilege. YOU'RE WRONG, YOU'RE CORRUPT. You're a greedy sick bastard who is obviously getting paid by the insurance companies. Voting is a right and so is my health! I have to be healthy to be able to vote. Whether I'm rich or poor I have a right to vote and be healthy in this country. The fact that everyone is being blinded by these rich Republicans is dissapointing and appalling. My whole family would've went bankrupt if we didn't have CHIP when I got kidney failure. I had a serious illness and had a stroke when i was 13 years old and the last thing I needed was to feel like a god damn burden to my family. So screw you telling me that anything he says is wrong. At least he's trying, you're doing NOTHING. You're just being theoretical. If you were in a Children's hospital and saw the awful things I did I think your head would spin. They're in hospital beds fighting for THEIR LIVES. It's not fun, trust me to see a 2 year old on dialysis or a boy whose had 2 open heart surgeries. Trust me they didn't look all to happy to be billed every month. If you were in a room with even one of these two cases you wouldn't think twice about healthcare reform. How can you deny them coverage?

The ugly thing is of course that the Republicans are at least partly right in that we can't afford the health care reform currently proposed. The fact is ANY health care reform that keeps the insurance companies in charge of our health care system will indeed exacerbate the death spiral bankruptcy of our decaying republic. The for profit health care system has had the 60 years since WWII to demonstrate the economies and efficiencies of the free market and they have only succeeded in creating a monstrous, lethal and inhumane cash cow they claim to be emblematic of our "rugged individualist" civic character and an intrinsic part of our national identity.

  • Posted By: freecitizen @ 06/19/2009 11:40:21 AM

It's time to learn something from the Iranian people and take to the streets, but of course we're mortally afraid of somebody at the bottom of the economic pile getting "something they don't deserve". Meanwhile those at the top are now boldly walking away with trillions right out of the public treasury, secure in the knowledge that we ARE THAT stupid.

  • Posted By: freecitizen @ 06/19/2009 11:32:37 AM

Obama is falling in the polls and the convoluted nature of so-called health care "reform" is an example of how "yes we can" has become "no we can't". He has been reduced to zippity do da tap dancing while the great Wall Street heist continues on all fronts. Every now and then he is allowed to express the public's growing rage, but that is strictly show business designed to create the illusion that SOMEBODY is on our side.

  • Posted By: freecitizen @ 06/19/2009 11:21:38 AM

It's amazing that ALL the other industrialized nations of the world have governments capable of delivering health care in an efficient, equitable and cost effective manner. Apparently when Max Bacus says we are a special case he means that we are conspicuously stupid, gullible and ignorant. In his case of course the word corrupt would also apply. He is congress' single highest recipient of health care industry campaign money and his twin Senator Dodd is married to a woman who sits on the boards of several corporate health care giants. Her major qualification being that her husband is the chairman of the senate Finance committee. It's no wonder that the current shape of health care "reform" amounts to another giant tax driven subsidy for the very Wall Street driven private health care system so adept at raping us now.

Things the government already cant do right, Social Security = almost broke, Digital TV transition = had to be pushed back cause they ran out of the coupons. Unemployment benefits = increase them and ended up pushing some people past the maximum income for food stamps. Are you sure you want them in charge of your health care?????

  • Posted By: wws2bill@swbell.net @ 06/15/2009 1:53:53 PM

Want to reduce the cost of health care right away? Introduce tort reform that puts reality into our out of control civil court systems. Unlimited liability forces doctors and medical facilities to spend huge sums to protect themselves and require tests designed to cover themselves against lawsuits. These costs must be born by patients and insurance companies. The impact of such reform of the tort system would be dramatic and benefit everyone. This must be addressed on a state level with support from the federal government.

The problem is that lawyers write the laws that regulate them. The legislative branch is out of control and corrupt at all levels. So it will be extremely difficult to address the real issues. Instead it is easier to tax and spend.

    • Posted By: Want A Change @ 06/15/2009 2:10:38 PM

Tort Reform??? R U kidding me??? That's like throwing a cup of water on a house fire.............you'll need to step-up your game to address any major factors of costs like the incredibly inefficient system we have not to mention the grip the Health Care & Insurance industries have on congress thru lobbying. How about back to the basics: competition. We don't have it in this corrupt system of ours because the entire industry is aligned against the consumer thru lobbying. The sorry system we have right nows to be thrown on it's head. We need to create a system to hold the entire industry accountable for inefficiencies, excess costs and bad management. After we've done this, I'll be gald to talk about increasing taxes to fund a well-oiled, needed system for all Americans.

How does a "genuine national health care system "almost" eliminate..litigation and solve all the problems you mention?
It doesn't seem logical to me.

        • Posted By: PastMaster @ 06/15/2009 3:56:13 PM

Reasonable question. "Tort" lawsuits are intended to recompense a person for a wrongful loss, pay for whatever remedies are necessary asa result of someone's wrongful act, and let others know that such ehavior is not condoned and will cost money if not anything lse.

In medical malpractice cases, this always includes a significant claim for further health car required as a result of the alleged bad deed. If someon'e stuck in a wheelchair for another 20,40, 70 years, and needs constant medical care to remain alive (and, hopefully, functional), thenthat's part of the future medical expense. If the alleged bad deed caused someone to require lots more medical care as a result, then that's part of the claim.

Universal health care eliminates those issues as a cost - and by the way, also eliminates almost every reason for medical malpractice tort claims. Same with many other injury lawsuits of there's no basis for medical care coverage. Universal health care IS "tort reform" of the best kind. These opportunists who hate lawyers and see a lawsuit behind every tree are trying sto slip one over on us. If they despise the legal system so much, go after it in reality rather than through this sort of bogus back door.

          • Posted By: healthdog @ 06/16/2009 7:41:29 PM

You've obviously never heard of non-economic or punitive damages, which can be the larger part of any jury award. Need to study up there buddy.

            • Posted By: PastMaster @ 06/17/2009 9:49:17 AM

Of course I'm aware of those portions of the awards. Sometimes - in cases where really egregious neglect and other exceptional behavior justifies a "punitive" award - these judgements are levied to both punish very bad behavior and to force companies or involved persons to change methods. As a result, there are far fewer cases of cutting off the wrong leg - and it DOES happen - than before. There are far fewer instances of people getting the wrong medications that sicken, disable, or kill them. However, the vast majority of malpractice cases are based on the cost of getting a person either well or cared-for after the event. You don't know what you're talking about.

    • Posted By: PastMaster @ 06/15/2009 2:15:27 PM

"Tort reform" as a health care overhaul? This guy is smoking locoweed. A genuine national health care system amlost eliminates every kind of litigation involving physical injury or medical care delivery. Only the most egregious circumstances of wrongdoing will be left to address. that means huge cuts in auto insurance, elimination of the entire medical and rehabilitation parts of workers' compensation, and certainly almost all the costly elements of health care associated judgements in any malpractice action. As for the rest, the writer is full of garbage. Trial lawyers ae each of our own best defense against incompetent, lazy, corrupt, uncaring, and often criminal people on the job - ANY job.

      • Posted By: splashy9 @ 06/15/2009 3:38:30 PM

Agreed. Most lawsuits are because people need help with past and possible future health care bills. Take that away by putting in universal single payer health care and the number would really drop. People would become far less litigious because they wouldn't worry about their health care.

    • Posted By: Fridge @ 06/15/2009 2:18:17 PM

Tort reform will never happen. It may be partly because of greedy lawyers and legislators, but don't balme just them. Blame the morons in the public circle, too, the ones who are suing doctors for hangnails.

    • Posted By: JimF @ 06/15/2009 2:02:05 PM

Tort reform might be a good thing, but unwarranted malpractice suits and related insurance are not major factors in overall healthcare costs.

      • Posted By: Health Provider @ 06/15/2009 2:04:15 PM

Really? Some studies indicate that nearly 25% of all health spending is due to defensive medicine, the fear of being sued. There is a direct correlation.

  • Posted By: cmcbutler76 @ 06/17/2009 7:31:05 AM

This is all very interesting but I'm reminded of a saying "Anyone one who says all you have to do to fix this problem is ... probably doesn't really understand the problem." That being said, Health care reform is a multifaceted problem and not enough real discussion goes into find a solution. First, there are many things that are needed! Mandate that all insurance carriers use the same form and same codes even for Medicare and Medicaid so that doctors and hospitals can save on labor and rework due to confusion with forms. Require employers with a certain number of employees to provide health care insurance of at least a certain level to their employees. Make all health care insurance go six months beyond employment so that at least you have six months to find another job before your medical insurance runs out. We also need to get rid of the great lie in health insurance that no one talks about and that is the difference between what an uninsured person pays and the insurance company pays. If the uninsured were billed the same amount that the insurance companies pay, and that the doctor and hospital accept then more people would use medical care for preventive purposes.
Going to a single payer idea is wonderful until you realize that single payer is really being paid by the taxpayers and a casual look at our national budget shows that to be a small problem. As far as government runs solutions goes perhaps it would work to establish clinics to get basic preventative healthcare items taken care of such as screenings and basic blood pressure medication to keep people from needing much more expensive treatments. Lastly, the most medical expense comes in the last six months of life. We spend huge amount of money for those few remaining days with virtually no benefit in real quality of life. When my time comes I hope that I'm in control enough to keep this burden from my family because dying is bad enough but spreading it out over six months with an incredible emotional and financial expense is just too much.

  • Posted By: CharInOhio @ 06/17/2009 7:20:41 AM

We ALL need to "experience" a few "free clinics" in the ghettos you all.......WHY SHOULD WE be allowed to have our own doctors and PAY FOR OUR OWN COVERAGE? We all need to be "the same" !!!! EXCEPT when it comes to PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and paying OUR OWN WAY in society......THEN THOSE WHO WORK AND DO THE RIGHT THING....IS EXPECTED TO PAY FOR THOSE WHO WONT OR DONT !!!!

  • Posted By: REALITY CHECK @ 06/16/2009 11:32:43 AM

"When people have insurance, they use more health services...... the higher demand for health care might raise costs across the board, increasing both government spending and private premiums."
Amen. The only answer is a single payer system to control costs and eliminate the wasted one half of health care costs that goes to insurance and pharmaceutical company overhead and profit.
If other countries are healthier than Americans a half the cost, it's obvious that our current system is broken.
A single payer system, funded with employer taxes (offset by eliminated employer paid insurance savings) plus a gasoline tax of about $1 per gallon would provide adequate health care for ALL Americans.
Many Americans who loved the current system, paid for by their employers, are finding out just how bad the system is when they lost their jobs and health insurance, and discovered they could not afford COBRA payments for insurance for their family.

    • Posted By: CharInOhio @ 06/17/2009 7:16:06 AM

This IS a LIE.....are you aware to go to ER there is a $250 co pay for me here? Why would I want to GO MORE? IT COSTS ME !!!! It also costs for doctor visits too....ITS NOT FREE just cause you "have insurance" !!!! Just cause someone "has insurance" DOES NOT mean they LIVE at doctors offices......!!!! I not only PAY for the insurance...but ALSO pay OTHER fees too......when I go .....who wants to PAY MORE?

  • Posted By: CharInOhio @ 06/17/2009 7:10:53 AM

Would you rather have an "overpaid doctor" or insurance company or NONE AT ALL? Basically THIS is your choice in this matter !!! Once Obama Care is in place....all employers will DROP private coverage FORCING YOU onto the government plan !!!! OR...Obama will CLOSE AND SHUT DOWN the private plans like he did the GM dealerships and other takeovers.....YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO KEEP YOUR CURRENT PLAN OR DOCTOR.....That is an OBAMA LIE....or should I say...ANOTHER ONE? This is a way to ration your care and PICK AND CHOOSE who Obama wants to recieve medical care !!!!! Its a way for GOVERNMENT to DECIDE WHETHER YOU LIVE OR DIE !!! They can also drive the cost to anything they want and DO anything they want once there IS NO COMPETITION !!!!! Wise up people.....Obama care is scary and dangerous !!! Doctors will OPT OUT of this program....like they did the HMOS....they will run from this in DROVES and there will BE FEW DOCTORS TO TREAT ALOT OF PEOPLE !!!

Obama has DUPED people into HATING big business, insurance companies, and ANYONE PROFITABLE or who has ANYTHING.......have you EVER gotten a job from ANYONE POOR? Seriously? LOTS OF PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES rake in money .....and get paid TOO MUCH ....but would you rather have a doctor or insurance company you feel gets paid too much ....OR NOT ONE AT ALL? Your choice !!!!!

  • Posted By: herbash @ 06/15/2009 7:29:12 PM

My wife and I are Senior Citizens. We are enrolled in the Humana Medical Advantage program which has served us very well.. President Obama said, in his AMA speech today, "If you like your Healthcare Plan you can keep it. Period". Two minutes later he says he will end Medical Advantage Programs. Hypocrite.

    • Posted By: CharInOhio @ 06/17/2009 7:00:39 AM

You cannot KEEP something that WONT EXIST !!!! Doctors will leave this "plan" in DROVES and OPT OUT !!!! There will be VERY few doctors and ALOT of people to treat...thus....LONG WAITS for care !!!! We already have a doctor shortage !!! Obama will CLOSE the other insurance providers, drive them to bankruptcy, or "manage" them and CONTROL them like he is doing other businesses and banks......He is doing it to OTHER businesses.....what makes you THINK he wont with the health care providers? This is a way to DRIVE out private insurers....then the GOVERNMENT can control what they charge, what they will or wont treat, AND WHO LIVES OR DIES......

Government care is NOT some "good thing" people......this is a way to dupe people into accepting this stuff.....IT WILL BE YOUR ONLY OPTION......THERE WILL BE NO OTHERS !!!!

    • Posted By: jonytk @ 06/15/2009 8:33:42 PM

he was talking about private healthcare, not goverment funded or subsidized programs.

  • Posted By: sandiegogirl1966 @ 06/15/2009 2:34:32 PM

How 'bout we re-structure HEALTH in this country. What percentage of adult Americans are overweight/obese and have all the health issues that go along with that (high blood pressure, adult onset diabetes, any many other ailments that go along with being obese). Instead, everbody wants to run to the doctor to get a pill to lower their blood pressure and a pill to control their diabetes. Drs. are too busy to take care of the people with real health needs because they are too busy taking care of the people who won't drop the potato chips and get off the couch!!

    • Posted By: CharInOhio @ 06/17/2009 6:54:56 AM

FYI.....how about we STOP covering skinny people with 4 kids ....THEY USE A DOCTORS OFFICE AND INSURANCE WAY MORE THAN I DO ....and guess what? I am "fat".....but have NO ...diabetes, high blood pressure, or any of that !!!!!! AND YES.....there are MORE like me out there !!!! Additionally FYI....I both HAVE AND PAY for my OWN health coverage.....and RARELY need to go to the doctor !!!! Why should I , as a single person PAY FOR a skinny person's care AND HER 4 kids !!!!! After all....I didn't TELL HER to have 4 kids ????? AND what about the sports people who like to do things like bungee jump, and play football? Then when they get hurt....they go to the doctor? HEY !!!! IF ONLY they didn't do those "dangerous things".....this would NOT have happened !!!! ???? I can be JUST as sarcastic and nasty and "blame game" playing as YOU CAN !!!!! What is the difference? YOU are concerned over driving up costs....and the things I mentioned....drive them up as well.....? More people have kids than that are fat.....multiply THAT by ever how many THEY HAVE.....I am ONE person.....there are some that have 5 kids or MORE !!!! WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR THEIR CARE? I dont have ANY !!!! Before you haters make comments about others...perhaps you should think about HOW YOU drive up costs too? I am sure you wouldnt want ME telling YOU how many kids to have right? Or that you cannot play sports cause you may get hurt? Well......then don't worry over my lifestyle either....I am not sitting on you !!!!

  • Posted By: CharInOhio @ 06/17/2009 6:36:14 AM

erhaps we should STOP the people from having health care that are skinny and have like 4 kids too? I mean after all....I am overweight but..have NO diabetes, NO high blood pressure, NO high cholesteral, NOTHING like this and RARELY need to see a doctor. People THINK you LIVE at a doctor's office cause you are OVERWEIGHT..smoking is a different story because....you will almost definitely wind up with some breathing issues or something ..but there ARE "fat" people that are not LIVING in doctors offices folks ! The skinny person with the 4 kids is eating up WAY more health care than I do.....so we should STOP that ! After all, it wasnt MY CHOICE she had 4 kids IS IT ? I mean, if you want to GO DOWN THIS ROAD......we can go on and on.....and play some "blame game". I can say , IF ONLY YOU DIDNT PLAY SPORTS....you wouldn't have fractured your ankle.....I mean .....see what I am saying here? I HAVE AND PAY FOR MY OWN HEALTH CARE.....and DO NOT support ANY government take over or plans......and yes, you would consider me "fat".

Perhaps they should CURB the welfare folks running to the ER with headaches @ ten kids by different fathers sneeze......Oh yeah, and the illegals? ABUSE of the system.....NOT people with TRUE health issues? OR LEGAL ONES? INSTEAD they want to take from OLD FOLKS and CUT MEDICARE and TAX people who have health benefits and PUNISH them for DOING THE RIGHT THING cause others DONT !!!!! Some are too cheap to pay for plans that ARE available .. I dont like paying either, BUT its somethng I NEED, ITS MY RESPONSIBILITY..so I PAY FOR IT !!! Once Obama Care passes...the government will DECIDE FOR YOU whether you LIVE OR DIE...but these "freebie lovers" are dying for this to happen ! HE SAID BUY INTO THE PLAN people...BE ASSURED.....MOST OF YOU won't be getting this for "free" like you think !!! Once the GOVERNMENT is the ONLY OPTION and they either SHUT DOWN the other insurers like they did the GM Dealerships...OR TAKE THEM OVER like they did GM and the Banks..YOU WILL HAVE NO OPTIONS ! You cannot "keep" your current provider or doctor IF THEY DONT EXIST ! Obama is LYING to you ! The government will THEN raise prices...DENY more and MORE coverage and treatments.....decide you are "too old" to treat...your condition is "too expensive to treat" ect...NO OTHER OPTIONS WILL EXIST !

There are "charity programs" and payment plan options at the hospitals....there is sliding scale for low income....deep discounts for self pay...THERE IS NO EXCUSE WHY YOU CANNOT PAY FOR YOUR OWN CARE !! ITS WHAT I DID WHEN I DIDNT HAVE COVERAGE ! There are NO debtors prisons and most hospitals will take payments as long as you make them timely as you agreed ! ALOT OF PEOPLE"S GOAL IS TO PAY NOTHING ! That simply is NOT a workable solution people !

  • Posted By: CharInOhio @ 06/17/2009 6:02:21 AM

This is simply a way to drive out private insurers plain and simple. People THINK this government plan will solve all their problems.....would you rather have doctors and insurers getting pain "too much" in your opinion....or NOT HAVE THEM AT ALL? Do you really THINK you will be able to keep your current plan OR DOCTORS under this plan? NO !!!! Doctors will "opt out" of this like they did the HMO's in HUGE NUMBERS !!! THIS is what is going to cause LONG WAITS AND RATIONED CARE !!!! You will have MUCH LESS doctors serving MANY MORE people !!!! Yeah sure....the government plan may be "cheaper" cause you are going to be DENIED LOTS OF CARE and QUALITY OF CARE !!!! If you half *** ANYTHING.....you can do it "cheaper" !!!!
Once the government installs this socialized Obama Care.....THEY CAN THEN begin DENYING coverages, RAISING the amount you PAY....Yes, ITS NOT FREE YOU ALL !!!! I heard some estimate that a single plan will be guesstimated at around $65 per month and it did NOT say what that covered at all.....The GOVERNMENT will have CONTROL over whether you LIVE OR DIE and you will HAVE NO OPTIONS TO GO BACK TO !!!!! IS this what people REALLY WANT? I have already heard that they are going to STOP care for "chronic back pain" , stop Ceaserean births and other things.....what IF you are one of those people NEEDING THAT CARE? Once they BEGIN there....and saying you will just have to "Live with your pain".....they will then ADD TO THEIR LIST of what they feel is "necessary" or "what you can LIVE WITH" to keep THEIR costs down !!!! I am not talking about abuse of the system.....I am talking about REALLY NEEDED CARE !!! Employers will DROP ALL COVERAGES once this Obama Care is in place.....and FORCE you onto the government plan.....OR Obama will SHUT DOWN the OTHER INSURERS like he did the CAR DEALERSHIPS or TAKE THEM OVER like he did GM and the BANKS......YOU WILL HAVE NO OPTIONS PEOPLE !!!!

This is just a way to dupe you to the slippery slope of NO RETURN......once you accept it, then the GOVERNMENT will DECIDE FOR YOU IF you get a doctors appointment,......IF you get a needed surgery.....IF you are "too old" and they decide that paying for your care isn't "cost effective" cause you will die soon anyways......

People are ALWAYS looking for something "cheap" or "free"......would you rather have a doctor or insurer that you feel "gets paid too much".....OR NOT ONE AT ALL? Your choice people.....Nothing in life is TRULY "free".....IT ALL HAS A COST and the government choosing whether YOU LIVE OR DIE....IS A HUGE ONE !!!!

True American2010, I would agree that many problems in our great nation is about the lack of personal responsibility. However I vehemently disagree with your take on healthcare. I am a diabetic and have a few other chronic problems. No I am not over weight, it;s called genetics. Would you deny me health insurance because of this. I hope not. If so, then you are hardly the True Americaan you claim to be. I always love it when my fellow countrymen call themselves true americans, yet clearly have no idea what an american is. All americans are true americans. And all americans should care about each other. I am sure you are aware of the saying, a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Yes, I know it is a pain to pay for others. I know sometimes I do. However, we will only be a great nation when we start acting like a great nation. Loosing weight and stop smoking will not solve our problems. Matter of fact it will not even make a dent in it. This article does make some valid points. Whether or not they will be addressed is yet to be seen. But your diatribe is way off base on this issue. Not all people, even well off people can help the way there bodies operate. I am for anything that will take a notch or two out of the healthcare system. By the way, I have great health iinsurance that I and my employer pay through the nose to have. This crap has to stop.

TrueAmerican2010, my question to you is what about the people who have health problems that contribute to obesity? If you have an under active thyroid or other hormonal problems, what do you do for health care? If you can't even get in to see a doctor, how could someone possibly be diagnosed with it. Your thyroid is a pretty important hormone producing organ, if thyroid disease goes untreated that person could die. That's what you want though, all the fat people in the world dead, Right? You obviously didn't think about your comment before you spoke.
