‘Elections Don’t Make Democracy’

I think Islam ruling is compeletly inconsistent with democrocy and either we should have islamic or republic nations.
islamic republic nations is a transient state that does not last for long.

it only needs for one country to start this and promote this movement of peace to the rest of the world
by twitter or spacebook .............

let's do it, let's help the young iranians to insist on a re-election

why are they so afraid if they think they can win it hands down ???

it needs for the whole world to stand for the rights of these innocent people
who are today demanding fairness and the truth

if we stand peacefully together , demonstrate our disgust for the lies we and them have been fed
these past few days...

McGill....and your comments have what to do with the Iranian election? I grow weary of these people jumping on a story and posting comments that have NOTHING to do with the actual story. People are dying in Iran for their vote. If you aren't an Obama fan at least you weren't killed for voting against him. Now comment about the actual STORY or find one about Obama and post on IT.

Like, when have WE had a fair election? Everywhere, there are people who really run things, and control what get's done by who. It has been ever thus, we just get to pretend to have a say. Yes, I vote for things, and not just when it is a personal issue. 70% of the black voting for Obama never bothered to vote in other things, lwt alone a president. Who's next? A mexican? An oriental? A muslim? Only in America can this idocy prevail.

Kudos to those in Iran who have the balls to protest in a country where people get stoned to death for being homosexual. However, both sides are blaming are already blaming America for their election fiasco?! Can't these people accept any blame for themeselves and work on fixing their own problems without pointing fingers at the west every time someone catches a cold?

Democracy is suffering from corruption and apathy and will soon be something we who experienced it talk about with our grand children.The election of Obama by foreign governments with Internet funding is proof of this as Obama was a man who had no love for America until his political advisers told him he would never be elected unless he started acting like a patriot.Our only hope is that we as a country can survive the hi speed Obama train of doom .If we do not have a total monetary melt down and are not invaded by a foreign government in the first Obama term we will have a chance to elect a fiscally responsible President that will have our security at the forefront as we will never survive eight years of Obama.

Stop your blaming and your fearmongering..We are not afraid, we survived BUSH's 8 years, we will survive anybody else. We are Americans, not whiners. BUsh's $700 billlion TARP money does not really make him fiscally responsible, at least for Obama, he is spending the money on us and not on a dumb war that is still costing us money after 6 years.

Democracy is not everything. The US is not really a democracy, elections are determined by lobbyists. The only thing that make a country successful in its politics is having the trust of its people. Governments that betray the trust of its citizens will be doomed whether it is a democracy, communist or Islamic.

The suggestion resonates my thought, ???Never jump to conclusion too fast??? in any kind of assessment of a scenario or situation.

If ???elections don???t make democracy???, what would? Unless of course, they are rigged to serve the ulterior motive of one person or a group of people.

Nevertheless, it is still the key to democracy, for there could be no democracy without elections. Just ask the West.
