    Just one little correction.

On the last page of the article author wrote ???Manuel Clouthier Carrillo, leader of the main opposition party in Sinaloa, the Institutional Revolution Party (PRI).???

Manuel Clouthier is member of the National Action Party (Partido Accion Nacional, PAN). PAN would be the equivalent to the Democrats in USA. PAN opposes PRI.

Manuel Clouthier is son of a famous presidential candidate that died on a car accident before elections, Manuel ???Maquio??? Clouthier del Rincón. Alternate versions state that he was plotted by then PRI presidential candidate, Carlos Salinas de Gortari. Maquio is probably PAN´s most famous figure, outshining the party founders; and still and iconic figure in Mexico.

Current president Felipe Calderon also belongs to PAN.

That's a croc of doggy poo...That those dogs AKA Drug Dealers in Mexico share there fortune with the poor. They live of the poor and weak even collecting extortion or protection fees from street beggars and people running taco stands from there bicycles. They extort every one from a street beggar asking for food to multi-million Dollar business's. They are ruthless killers and certainly no one to be admired.

Thank God for President Felipe Calderon, who is quickly becoming mexico's Hero and the last hope for any type of peaceful life in Mexico. Here you can't even look or stare the wrong person because he might be a Narco and slap or kill you. We live under the Gun of the Drug Cartels and the filthy pigs they hire to protect, which are the same dogs that sworen to protect the public, the local police, preventative police and state police. They are the drug lords best weapon to intimidate and murder mexican Citizens.

I wish the US and Mexico would classify the dogs as terrorist, because that's exactly what they are "Terrorist!" Terrorizing our citizens every day, stealing, robbing, assaulting murdering and raping our men and woman.

God bless America and Mexico and may he guard and protect our Courages President Felipe Calderon

I feel that you had no need to go ino descriptions of your sources, even though you changed names. Have you no morals? Was it truly necessary; an integral component for your article? Are you Gen-Y? That woud be the only explanation I can come up with for such a betrayal.

There is alot to catching a man that is one of the most wanted. They need to make sure they have all the evidence and can't just go in for the kill. They need to be able to catch him almost pre-in the act. They could lose the whole case just for not going in prepared enough. Everyone has their rights and anyone can easily get aquited...remember OJ and Michael Jackson...police went in for them at the wrong time and evidence couldn't be used in the correct way.

If they know where the scumbag is, then why don't they go get him? All this crap about knowing where he is is just that, crap! Or, consider this: He is not able to pay off every law enforcement official in Mexico, and, if the Mexican President is such a champion of law and order, then why doesn't he employ the French Foreign Legion, or come up with his own special forces, to go in there and OFF the guy? This all sounds very hoaked up and suspicious. If a moron "journalist" can find out where El Chapo Is, then it appears that the Mexican authorities are not really serious about getting him.

Legalize pot and you deal double-digit percentage profit hits to "el Chapo" and the other murderers like him.

not only that, but it would be a stimulus to our economy in and of itself. new growing farms, new "coffee shops", a reimurgance of the hemp industry: paper, lotions, textiles ect...

ont top of a LARGE drop in spending for the "war on drugs"... they would literally be saving billions, while making billions.

Yep. George Washington grew hemp at Mount Vernon.

Two errors on page 3: - 1 million pesos does not equal $85,000 more like $850,000
    - Manuel Clouthier Carrillo is the leader of Partido Accion Nacional (PAN) not of PRI. PRI is the current ruling party in Sinaloa

    • Posted By: Blicious @ 06/19/2009 1:16:04 PM

1 millon de pesos is around $ 75,000 dls. This morning the official price is 1 dollar x $ 13.36 pesos.

But the Clouthier is pretty bad. His dad was one of the most significant panistas of the 20th century. Also Félix (not Gallardo) was never extradited. The word for ATV is cuatrimoto, not quatromoto. There's many more. Really shoddy fact checking.

Interesting story, but what the heck was Time thinking, sending in a gringo who needed a translator? Is it really that hard to hire quality non-white Spanish-speaking journalists? Pretty sad if they didn't try...makes me wonder how much of the information via the people he interviewed is accurate if he couldn't understand it...we all know how easy it is to put your own spin on stuff or be selective when translating. And who's to say that he got equal treatment from sources? (And really, what's up with the nonexistent web copyediting? "Mexi-can"? "Co-lumbian"?)
