never mind the thing about democracy being the 'modern way' or science having proved anything (other than you can live on scientific grants forever). The reason theocracies never survive in a viable State or country is that in politics and human history everything changes - always. A theocracy is based on no change.
    That's it

Anything that holds to no change can not survive Life. Republican party, Fundamentalist anything, this years scientific theory, this years economic theory- for instance.

If THEORACY is so great, it would have done better but along with the INVESTMENT BANKERS, who run the politicians, and both of them have done a BAD JOB, otherwise, you wouldn't have an ad for a Presidential Armored Safe from World Reserve Monetary Exchange in this same issue of your magazine. It didn't take President Franklin Roosevelt long to clean-up the problem when he got in office. REGULATORS BACK IN THE BANKS! He TAXED the fat cats that were making the money on all the commissions they were charging their customers. Regulations SHOULD be put back in to correct their corrupt practices. Then you wouldn't need to buy their safes and money would be back in CIRCULATION and everyone would be better off.
P.S. I would email this out if I could add this or another comment when I emailed it out.

This is exactly why government and religion should be separate by enforceable law, in every country.

Don't the Republicans want to establish a theocracy in this country? They should go to Europe and count the number of people who go to church. The reason is rather obvious. For centuries, Europeans were subjected to various sorts of theocracies. That should serve as a warning for not only the theocrats of iran, but also the wann-be theocrats in the USA.

theocracy will sadly always be a form of government somewhere. despotism to varing degrees are much lower maintenance than democracies, republics, or a federation like canada.

The writer here make good and pertinent points, but the essential one is the dismal saga that is Iraq is that the USA has been a very poor expemle of a free society to millions, and has pooibly put back the cause of freedom by former President' Bush's actions and his cohorts in the White House.
However, the road offered by theocracy is a dead end. that point is made and agreed with here.
