    I'm glad to see Newsweek take some notice of this monumental event, even if it's only a conventional wisdom poll. My local newspaper had about a three sentence blurb about it. Sad.

    This is the best you can provide on one of the biggest sports stories in recent memory? Pathetic, Newsweek. I guess we shouldn't count on any World Cup coverage next year.

    Spain's greatest talent is for self-aggrandizement and macho ostentation. They take their football almost as seriously as their beer (which is awful notwithstanding). The United States has great athletes, as good as the best in most areas of athletic competition, and Americans know what teamwork is. And being good sports helps a team. In Spain, Italy, Portugal players fall apart and begin blaming each other. To win at football (soccer) you need an impetrable defense and one successful attack (ie a goal), like in chess.
