Great , long-overdue move by Yahoo!, which desperately needs a thorough rebranding. I hope they'll begin with the familiar Yahoo! logo, which reflects the bygone era when all-purpose Web portals were springing up everywhere and there was a sort of silly euphoria in the WWW air. The trouble with the current logo is not just that it's ancient (by Web standards), but that it's childish and amateurishly executed. Given Yahoo!'s importance to millions users worldwide, it's time for a more grown-up, contemporary design. Doesn't matter if Landor Associates sticks with its client's signature purple theme (not my favorite), but I sure hope everyone gets behind the notion that this rebranding effort cannot be successful unless it goes all the way, and that means a redone logo.
