I definitely think there is a link between animal cruelty and cruelty to humans. Most abusive husbands are first abusive to the family pets and it escalates as the obsession/control of their wives worsens People tend to use animals as a "test" subject to hurl their anger and uncontrollable impulses toward and if they can separate their sense of right and wrong and conscience over an animal, it is much easier to direct their rage at human subjects. I suspect that the ones who feel remorse after torturing an animal are the ones who don;t go on to bigger prey.
