maybe khamenei can stop or lie to people, but he can not stop the history.
Iraq's leaders are trying to say as little as possible about Iran's post-election problems—in public, anyway.

The effect of the Iranian crisis on Iraq is an interesting topic which has so far not been much discussed. This article was referenced in the following analysis:

The fact that America didn't dive in and condemn the election might have unsettled the regime a little. Without an outside force to blame they take centre stage. Khamenei won't be happy in the spotlight. Good articles on www.asiachroniclenews.com. Have a look.

It's difficult to get some people to accept a different way of life, especially if they don't want to. But, I do believe all people should have the right to choose their leaders. In this case, I'm sure it will be quite impossible to prove who won the election and who didn't in Iran. I do believe however, that Iraq's people will one day have the strongest influence on the entire region, and that it will be a great and peaceful nation.

Isn't that too simpliistic on your part by labeling a country as free simply and democratic because they have a multi-party system.. How about separation of power and rule of law. That still does not exist in Iraq.
That may be overstating the "contagion" After all, many parts of the world have been living next to a "free" country for hundreds of years, and still don't have representative governments. If that does wind up being the case in Iran, I would be ecstatic. The Iranians are the people whose culture is most like our own in the Near East. I suspect they could quickly become friendly to the West.
