If Americans take that last off the cuff remark seriously, then that says it all. You're still in the school yard.

I think we can be fairly certain that he said the last line with a smile. Believe it or not, even Russians have a sense of humor.

I would like to think so. Same problem as email in that tone and implied meanings are hard to pick up!

"Russians more talented than Americans?" Maybe. With WW I and WW II and Communism with Stalin, the 20th century was a disaster for Russia whereas the United States was fortune's darling until Vietnam. Comparatively speaking, the United States had a much better 20th century.

How does that equate to talent??

Sorry for double post...had no indication te first one went through. Anyway, while I am in agreement with much of what he said, that last statement was out of left field. And so many Americans are blamed for being ignorant and too full of pride? We should all look at each others as equals and refer to ourselves as such...especially when referencing or making comparisons to large groups of people where individual differences, failings and talents are not so apparent.

"Yes, Russians are more talented than Americans..." What's he smoking and what does he base this on??? Ridiculous statement!

Conflict between the U.S. and Russia was, is and will be the direct action of the international bankers like Rothschild and Rockefeller. They promote conflicts so that nations arm themselves, go to war and then have to rebuild. The nations have to borrow from the banksters to both wage war and rebuild. And the taxpayers pay the interest on the astronomical debt and come further under control. These banksters are psychotic and need to be locked up. War would then be made a thing of the past and we would all be free to get on with the business of living and not killing each other.

I completely disagree with former President Gorbachav about his assessment and he blames entirely on US policies. People of US come from every country and as such they do not have any anymosity against any nation. But Russia has changes the focus when it always expect respect without any reason. Russia also brought a lot of racism in killings of colored people who visited Russia from different countries, it proliferated nuclear side in dealing with unstable nations such as Iran. It always bullies her neighbors. There was no need to attack Georgia and they had planned this for a long time. They have subverted democracy, and finally they sell anything and everything for money in the world. More recently, they have made agreements with China to oppose US for everything in UN. A kind of bullying tactic jointly being done by two bullies and then say America is a problem. Russia needs to develop broader perspective in international dealings and if they have to become democracy, they have to live to have disagreements in a more civilized manner rather than saber rattling with their bombers and then becoe friends with communist China and Venezuela and dictate a different group of people who do not care about stability that has been the hallmark in the last 50 years.

    >> People are afraid that things will get worse; they want to let well enough alone.

Yep. Mikhail Sergeevich hits the nail on the head. That's exactly what's happening.
