What will Obama's visit to Moscow really accomplish?

    Russian President Medvedev Should Come Up With Smart Ideas Similar To Those Of Ex-Soviet Dictator Mikhail Gorbachev

    The last entry of this discussion was about the SALT Treaty of nuclear reduction. The following are some extremely intelligent ideas dreamed up by Ex-Soviet Dictator Mikhail Gorbachev which should also be implemented by Medvedev:

    (1) Make sure his name sake Michael Jackson could receive address in Russia so that Mikhail can regain his power and live in that address.

    (2) Tatooed his own forehead with the map of the Philippines Islands thinking that could make that nation unite with the Soviet Union.

    (3) Put Boris Yeltsin on top of his military tanks thinking that could make (Bor)is Yelt(sin) confessed to his (sin)s and a(bor)t his Revolution.

    (4) Invited Osama bin Laden to his Opium smoking party in Afghanistan because he thought whoever has a name starting with an "O" could increase his opium production there.

    (5) Invited Barack Obama to swim with him at his Black Sea resort so that no one could see or rescue Obama when he was drowning.

    (6) Didn't believe in the possible success of Reaganomic because Gorbachev thought Reagan was just acting.

    (7) "Tear down that (Berlin) Wall!" so that Russian tanks could roll into West Berlin.

    (8) Gorbachev thought China are only cups and dishes for drinking and eating. He was perfectly comfortable when China was rising and even enjoyed it thinking it was an act in the "Mary Poppins" movie.

    (9) Supported Soviet boycott of the Los Angeles Olympic anticipating earthquakes would destroy California. It would certainly save him money by not using nuclear missiles.

    (10) Replace Russian Black Market with his own "Free Market" to put African-American spy network in the Soviet Union out of business. Or is it really a "Flea Market"?

    (11) Endorsed the SALT Treaty thinking it was just a requisition for condiments. As a result all his nuclear missiles were destroyed.

    Is Newsweek meaningless? Okay, cheap-shot, as was the tile of the article. The threat of nuclear war is still very real. Pushing further on the little that has been done since Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev is vital. I think the visit was no small push. The extreme right on both sides have crippled diplomacy (to say nothing of the economy, environment, et cetera), let see what the smart, committed, new President can do before you push the complain button.

    I think the family's summer vacation is in Italy today, "historic relationships".

    Obama is meaningless, Period. He's just using the office to satisfy himslef. Nothing is working, and his message is that America is no longer competent, intelligent or worth anything. Way to go Pres!!

    Russia is like a ferral dog. You can't make any sudden moves around it. You can't trust it. You can't ignore it. It's sneaky, skittish, it doesn't play well with others and it has sharp teeth.

    His trip to Moscow , like his trip to Cairo will accomplish nothing , but of us conceding more than Russia . He needs to take Foreign Affairs 101. What did we really expect for on -the-job training from the president who was only a junior senator for several years? At least JFK surrounded himself with the best and the brightest.

    This claim by the US that the missles being placed in Poland and Czech Republic are not against Russia but against a possible attack by Iran or N. Korea is a easily refuted ludicrous lie. Has anyone actually looked at a world map? Russia is much better situated geographically to protect Europea from missles attacks from such nations. The caucas region, north of Georgia, for Iran and southern Siberia for N. Korea. Turkey and Cyprus also are much better locations than E. Europe as welll. This US claim is weak, if it were true then America would be working in conjunction with Russia and would want to avoid creating a perceived threat. The fact is that missles being placed in E. Europe are against Russia and Russia is justified in seeing this as a threat. It would be no different if Russia placed missles in Cuba to protect Canada from Venezuela

      RUSSIA is not our ally. They are supplying our enemies and allowing their territory to be used agains us in Afghanistan.(Supply Lines) Iran N. Korea Cuba and Valenzuela are all supplied by the Soviets and the Chinese. Where do you thnk they are getting their nuke technology. Now their satelite states particularly Noorth Korea are givng nuke technology to Iran and other Roogue states. Russia may be concerned about missles in Poland but they sure are not going to point their own nukes at their allies and they are not going to allow us into their country to do the same. Putin is an old KGB hardliner despite what you think or the media portrays him. The difference for us is that we have not taken oover an inch of territory from an army and nation we have defeated oor freed from tyranny. Russia did the opooosite after WWII and seized all of eastern Europe against their will and we allowed it. The Cold War never really ended but it did have a chance under Yeltsin who was by all appearances a real reformer. Russia has since returned to more of a cold war stance on everything just witness China and their opposition too actions agqinst North Koorea and Iran that could be meaningful.

      Better study up the certificate he presented as a valid birth certificate is simply a notice of live birth and they were issued for any birth to a parent of Hiawaiin decent no matter where their child was born. Obama's grandmother swore under oath he was born in Kenya and she was there and witnessed his birth. That certficate carries no legally binding proof he is a naturalized american citizen as required by the constitution to be elected presiodent. Releasing his valid birth certificate and college records wouod clear this up once and for all but he will not release them. In fact he has spent a million dollars in legal fees blocking theirrelease. Why if he has nothing to hide.

    President Obama has been a huge success with foreign leaders. The Bush administration was a huge failure. The American press has yet given President Obama any credit for what he has accomplished, including rebuilding the bridges that the last administration has left neglected. Frankly, it's quite disturbing when the first African-American President of the United States does not receive any credit for the work he and his administration has done so far. The entire world was expressed with how far America had come breaking down racial barriers. Too bad the American press doesn't see it.

      What has he accomplished. He apologized all over himself at the G-7 failed to accomplish anything at the G-20 which was a miserable failure bowed to the Saudi King and spent all of his time bashing Bush and the U.S. at those meetings. He has failed to take action against N. Korea, Iran and if fact will not even condemn their continued brutality against their own citizens in their phony election result protests yet he protests the ouster of the marxist president in Hoonduras trying to usurpt their constitution and laws making himself a dictator. Maybe that is his plan since he too appears to be a marxist muslim sympathizer he may be wanting to make himself a self appoionted dictator here too. GOP in 2010 and anybody but Obama in 2012.
