'Bruno': A Fashion 'Don't'

'Borat' turned guerrilla comedy into a sharp, political weapon. 'Brüno' is funny enough, but its satire is entirely too overdressed for success.

The movie was hilarious. Of course, it's not for everybody, but I just shake my head at the self-righteous condemnations from so many people. They act as if THEY are the arbiters of good humor and taste. My attitude is "live and let live". I know it's unlikely, but I would love to see a sequel to Bruno. Cohen is fantastic.

Has anyone been to a gay pride parade- pretty disgusting stuff...Bruno is fantastic compared to the flamingness on the streets

His intent is not too root anything out. It is to create a funny movie, playing out peoples hypocracies, and the ridiculousness of homosexuality. WIth their celebrity obsessed, catty and self-rightousness...it takes the truth we all see and exagerates it a bit for the movie. Good job Cohen- keep up the good work.

I am not at all convinced that Baron Cohen's purpose was to root out homophobia, but rather to milk it for fun and profit, crossing the line into cruel and manipulative behavior for the sake of maintaining his fame and fortune.

Whats are they protesting? Bruno isn't doing anything that you wouldn't see at a gay pride parade.

this is NOT Borat, this is Bruno...why do we always want to compare things we've done.... ... U2 will never make another Joshuas Tree , Eminem will never make/top the Marshall mathers Lp. etc.... its about time we looked at things based on it being art by itself.
Bruno and Borat are completely diffeent characters and if you were a fan of the show, you'd know that Bruno s tactics have always been borderline brawl inducing and over the top gross..this is not a new condition.....

please know the history f a character before you start typing...

once again my search for a GOOD critic fails dramatically

BRÜNO SHOWS IT PERFECTLY AND IS RIGHT ON THE MARK:
Brüno does stereotyping and it shows how disgusting the practices and the attitudes of the gay community are. These *** are not liked by the majority of the population and in reality gays only cater to themselves as they only get approval within their own ranks. In Brüno we see nothing extraordinary of the stereotyped gay community as to what these *** portray themselves frequently during their gay pride parades and whenever they appear in public, ... they're just a disgusting group of people. Brüno certainly enhances rightfully homophobia, but that's what gays want, ... they just want to talk about their sick and perverted lifestyle and their purpose is to deceive the masses and to seduce teenage boys, etc. Brüno is exactly on the mark as it shows that most people (the majority) don't want to be around *** and we will never accept the gay lifestyle as anything other than a sick and perverted lifestyle by a small random group of perverts who are lost souls, but who are also proud and arrogant.
