I met Ms. Vanderbilt many years ago when she was visiting Houston, TX. She was a very down to earth, lovely person and I had a most enjoyable visit with her. This was shortly after the death of her husband and before her older son's death. We spoke mostly about the joys and challenges of raising sons in todays environment, and also about her artistic career. Undoublty, she and her husband did a fine job or raising Anderson and she suffered such grief and pain in the loss of his brother. She has lived an interesting life and has several earlier books that I have enjoyed, though I have not read her latest one.
