As a woman, I find the "religionizing" of this issue apalling!..... When will those people we put in office "for the benefit of all citizens" in a government that's supposed to be "for the people and by the people"- realize that this is a health and social issue? Government should be without color, race, creed and most of all, party affiliations and the ONLY focus should be what is best for the people.... I was raised Catholic (we don't practice any more) and always disagreed with 80% of what we needed to go along with because the Church wasn't considering their "flock"... the same can be said of government who refuse to "SEE"... get real, listen to the needs of people and leave the Bible at home..... And as far as the Death Penanlty is concerned- HELLO? Hasn't anyone realized that it doesn't work? That should tell you something... we've got the world's largest prison population, doesn't that tell us something is terribly wrong? Why don't we try preventing this instead....

Republicans will continue the save unborn babies as long as unborn babies save republicans.

I don't want to subsidize more murders! Put a tax on Democrats to fund baby killing.

I don't want to subsidize more unwanted pregnancies, expecially those that harm the health of the mother. Impose a heavy tax on the relgious right to raise these children to adulthood, and compensate the families of the loss or impairment of the mother's health or life.

I don't want to subsidize more on the death penalty! Put a tax on the Republicans for loving it!

I find this all very enlightening, since most insurance will NOT cover for the pill, yet, cover for having babies, and now wanna cover for abortion? Which is a better choice? Covering BEFORE, or covering AFTER the incident? There are so little abortions done for the "life of the mother" and I am getting and tired of the same old justification for abortion. For anyone to make it simply a religious issue is just damn stupid! Its an ethical issue. PBA is sick, and our President, being the christian he says he is (not) just made it legal. What I find even more funny, is that liberals wanna take the lives if the innocent, ie: abortions, yet draw the line when Conservatives wanna get rid of death row inmates that committed MURDER. Wow.....what an oxymoron the liberals are. If you want an abortion, PAY FOR IT yourself. Honestly, I should not have to, nor should the government that I pay into. Just more socialized crap! Pay for the pill, not the after thought!

Heavenstinyangles-- I forgot to add that EVERYONE pays taxes for the death penalty, whether they're for it or not. You can't have everything your way. It's give and take! Get over it!

You brought up a great point with the death penalty-- you're right, most liberals are against it- yet most liberals are for abortion. So can't we just call it even? Looks like everyone is pro termination, one way or another.

Abortion is a medical procedure. If people pay into the health insurance fund, they're entitled to whatever medical science has to offer. Sadly, abortion falls into that category. For the Republicans who don't like it, I suggest they move to Iran where there's a government far more in sync with their hopes and aspirations.

Abortion is a medical procedure- What a nice tidy way to describe abortion. No different than having you're tonsils removed, huh? But I guess describing it in those terms makes people like you feel better doesn't it. Good for you.

Why is it when someone has a different opinion they are asked to leave their own country? This adds nothing to the discusion. To use your example of Iran, isn't that the sort of response one would expect from a dictator - it's my way or the highway? Silliness of the highest order.

Oh - that's right, YOU are the only ones who can tell others what to do or not do...

With the major premise of "privacy" squarely pivoting on the woman's right to choose, a choice which the government has no say so ... exactly what happens to that privacy when the government can make healthcare choices for you, as would be the case with the "public option".
Utlimately, Roe v Wade could be disassembled by the "public option" in Obamacare.
The "Law of Unintended Consequences" is not to be fooled with.

So much for keeping abortion ''rare'' ,eh Obama?

Republicans always say that the market is self-regulating. Let the health care market determine what is offered. Those who oppose abortion can choose plans that don't cover abortion. Those who want abortion covered can choose plans with that coverage. Hospitals can choose whether to provide abortions or to not provide abortions, the same with doctors. Personally, I don't think anyone would want a procedure provided by someone who didn't normally do it and who didn't want to perform it. The same with a hospital. Let doctors, hospitals and patients make their own decisions. Nothing is forced.

How absurd that the men in the legislature deem themselves qualified to dictate women's medical care. This is an excellent example of whay is wrong with congress and our country: Men believing they can vote on what a woman does with her body. I suggest we women all vote that men be steralized at age 12 and vote on their worthiness to reproduce when they petition us for a reversal procedure. It would end abortion as birth control and leave women only with the tragedy of rape and therapeutic abortions. It is less crazy than dictating that insurance limit what care a woman can receive based upon the views of those who can not get pregnant.

How funny! I agree that abortion should not be legislated because these legislators clump abortion bans together with easy access to affordable birth control which would prevent pregnancy and reduce the numbers of abortions.

It's not murder in my opinion, nor in the science that says this clump of cells is not a viable human being. Where are all you people when it comes to paying to raise all these unwanted children? You are only Pro-Life until the kid is born and then they're on their own. Millions of unwanted children waiting to be adopted - but you only want the healthy, white, infants so all the others are just left in the shelters.
