Isikoff is a mere hack, and as such ,cannot be trusted to assume a neutral position regarding the already-political aspect of the memos debates. In his ''Mr.Independant'' we observed that he has no such qualms about keeping the far older Waco docuiments secret, as these would haunt those in present positions of power in Washington right now,as opposed to those who are out of office. Isikoff,as is his wont in leftwinged-liberal political and media circles, again claims to speak for ''The American People'' which is garbage. He speaks only for himself and his like-minded J-LIST cronies over at the NY Times, KOS and MOVEON. Indeed, in all polls conducted, either GALLUP or IPSOS or RASMUSSEN or QUINNIPAC, the overwhelming issue of the day is the economy. Not this crap.[ which is taking the steam out of Isikoffs idol, Obama, hence his junkie-like dependance on this subject to the exclusion of others, such as the non-appearence on NEWSWEAK of a brand new Congressional Budget Office study that slams the Democrats healthcare plan stating flatly that ''more Americans would lose jobs'' under their plan, and the stacking by Reid and Pelosi of their ''independant committee'' assigned to look into the costs to businesses associated with their scheme with political hacks who all contributed to a man/woman to Democrats and Obama].

Oh but Lee, we must let Newsweek and Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow continue to deflect the Americans attention away from the failure of their hero Obama.

        You whimper too much.

Well written article. Being in Newsweek, I was surprised it was printed. Usually all they print is cheerleader material for the new administration. I think it also shows the folly of an "investigation." Mr. Holder might need to realize that this could set a bad precedent, that each new administration will try to crucify the previous one. No matter how you slice it, that cannot be a good thing for the USA>

"that each new administration will try to crucify the previous one."

      There's probably a downside.

Any attempt to keep investigations focused on low-level operatives is in direct violation of the Convention Against Torture, which is a binding treaty under US & international law. ALL parties who directed, enabled or participated in acts of torture must be investigated. Plus, the Nuremburg trials established a strong precedent that "i was just following orders" does NOT constitute a valid defense.

Was on the Huff Post with a link to here, but it disappeared real quick. Some progressive site.

So Mr. Isikoff, are you suggesting that we should not investigate this matter, because witnesses and foresnsic evidence are lacking? Should we do that with all cases? Investigate when the prosecution has a clear and decisive winning position.

If this case proves that that people are innocent, then it should be rejoyceful for the previous admnistration. It will also clear them of wrong doing. Why would this be a loss for AG. AG needs to identify if there is a case in the first place., why is that wrong??? I feel you lost your way, using results to justify methodology. It is about practice, and how we do. Justice is not simply measured by result.

Wow! It appears that Michael has been re-born. I recall writings of this quality in years gone by.

      WOW!
Michael Isikoff has broken away from the goofy 'main street media'...well done!
      Finally...someone is getting it.

    Nope.

Rather, the ''free press'' is accountable to the ''political system''

This is what has critics riled over these species of ''Salons'' as instigated by The ATLANTIC and the Washington Post,in which, for a fee, [ranging between 25 and 250 grand], those lobbyists who plank down the dough would get favoured meetings with administration figures including Obama and members of the ''press'' [complete with caviar, malt ales and imported cheeses and crackers], who would highlight the concerns of said lobbyists in upcoming articles written by staff journalists.

This is crazy to the nth degree and takes into consideration the fact that the present administration is packed with more former hacks than any previous one[ with fourteen former journalists now serving in the administration]. They thus concoct ''town hall ''meetings stacked with Obamaites, or, in the strange case of ABC NEWS, create entire informercials live from the White House that are partisan in their makeup allowing no dissenting voices to be heard.[sanity sometimes prevails however. CNN has just sacked ''reporter'' Sue Roesgen, the idiot who angered many Americans by her live browbeating of Chicago ''tea party''protesters earlier this year]. The disservice todays press affords Americans cannot be overstated. For one example, ironically, it became Russias news services in ITAR-TASS and their TIMES which were more honest with the troubles inherent in the Obama/Medvedev meeting than was the adoring NEWSWEAK and that Putin remains the strongman behind the throne.[highlighted by yet another murder of a Putin journalist critic yesterday who was shot and dumped on a road outside of Moscow]. As it now stands, too many in journalism are asking either the wrong questions or worse, not asking them at all.

While we are discussing "torture" techniiques - let's ask Governor Sarah Palin what she "allowed" in the war against a young family and her "not caring" about the consequences of said actions. like the latest is the planning to "burn the house down"
with the exception it didn't work out. when the target put the pieces together and called it out - Palin QUITS in 24 hours...

Tell the Attorney General to send an army of investigators to Alaska - money trail will lead to Palin's front door...and evidence!

Errata: ''Don't Shoot'' [ Isikoff and Hosenball] for ''Independants Day'' which was penned by Klaidman.

Hey now, let's play nice. He's not saying he knows any better. He's just asking some tough questions, as is his wont, as a successful columnist. Something that none of us, here, are. I think he knows what he's doing, and I think he knows this will get ignored. But it's about a political system that is accountable to the free press. You do think we should have a free press, don't you? If not, I heard Russia is awfully nice this time of year.

This is the usual left wing garbage. This left wing partisan ends by saying"...so the American people once and for all can know the truth about this subject?" But the "American people" have made it perfectly clear that they don't care about this subject. They also overwhelmingly don't want to close Guantanamo Bay because they don't want these foreign terrorists on American soil and these facts really piss off the hysterical Bush haters. It is psychiatric problem, these losers, like this scribbler, needed George Bush to hate and now they miss him. They are not allowed by their inane ideology to hate Obama since he is half black. It is just pathetic.

Why investigate now the non-torture waterboarding instead of the beheading of these islamic fanatic terrorists who mercilessly massacred 3,000 innocent American civilians on 9/11. However Obama and Holder can't distract the American people from the failure of Obama's adminstration and the corrupt democratic congress. Obama and Holder should investigate instead all the TAX CHEATERS,LIARS, TRAITORS ,CORRUPT POLITICIANS ,ANTI-AMERICA,ANTI-WHITE,ANTI-VETERANS RACIST AND DOMESTIC AND ISLAMIC SYMPATHIZERS OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION,ASSOCIATES, CABINET MEMBERS AND THE DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE IN JAIL NOT IN POWER. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE JUSTICE,HONOR,INTEGRITY,MORAL VALUES,HONESTY,CORRUPTION FREE AMERICA. THE ECONOMICALLY AND MILITARILY INCOMPETENT ,PATHOLOGICAL LIAR OBAMA IS BANKRUPTING OUR COUNTRY BY MASSIVE SPENDING WITH NON-STIMULUS BILLS WITH THOUSANDS OF PORKS,QUADRUPLING THE DEBT/DEFICIT TO $ 1 TRILLION ,RISING UNEMPLOYMENT RATE WHICH MAY REACH 13% ACCORDING TO WARREN BUFFETT,THE COMING HIGH INTEREST RATES,HYPERINFLATION,VERY HIGH TAXES ON ALL WORKING AMERICANS AND THE INDISPUTABLE RAPIDLY DROPPING OBAMA'S APPROVAL RATING WHICH REFLECTS OBAMA'S NAIVETE,INEXPERIENCE,A MERE COMMUNITY DISORGANIZER AND A "VOTE PRESENT SENATOR". HOW STUPID IS OBAMA NOT KNOWING THAT SPENDING MORE MONEY THAT WE DON'T HAVE will lead to bankruptcy and a third world country standard of living. This is common sense and basic economics. OBAMA IS DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY AND IS A TRAIITOR AND OBAMA,PELOSI,REID,AND MURTHA SHOULD BE SHOT BY THE US MILITARY ON SIGHT WTHOUT FURTHER TRIAL FOR TREASON. REMEMBER PELOSI,REID,MURTHA AND OBAMA WANTING OUR US TROOPS TO FAIL AND SURRENDER IN IRAQ AND WITHOLDING FUNDING OUR TROOPS ENDANGERING THEIR LIVES AND SECURITY? MURTHA EVEN ACCUSED OUR US TROOPS OF KILLING CIVILIANS IN IRAQ.

That election really ***ed you up, didn't it?

  • Posted By: John Dough @ 07/16/2009 10:06:52 AM

Just another lie by the Obama administration one in a number that now surpasses 60 - we are not going to llok back but forward. Now the dems see their election advantage slipping very fast so they now plan to try and further demonize the GOP while trying to ram through their Marxist agenda. GOP in 2010 and anybody but Obama in 2012.
