One sided crap like this is why Newsweek is going under. Let's face it if an Obama Administration official grant you an interview then your a fluff news outlet. Real journaists aren't allowed any where near the Obama Administration.
Say good bye Newsweek or say good bye to your left wing nazi reporting.

"Say good bye Newsweek or say good bye to your left wing nazi reporting."

Aer you suggesting that Newsweek reporters are killing off Jews, and invading Poland?

      • Posted By: brydges @ 07/17/2009 2:47:49 PM

No I'm implying that they are left wing radical socialists who's scapegoat of choice are white men with money, and that by sacrificeing journalistic integrity for a left wing agenda is why they are going under.

Yeah, because the Nazis were all about persecuting white men.

But why not water words down until they are meaningless?

No Bush did that it's Bush's fault.

Just remember dem presidents Wilson and FDR imprisoned Americans while in office with no trials oor constitutional rights being afforded them either. Wilson as a progressive imprisoned those speaking out against him and his policies. FDR entruned thousands of Japanese Amercians simply because of their race. At least Bush's prisoners were killing Americans and commiting terrorist acts. Democrats have short memories.

No, they're accused of that. Until they've been tried and found guilty, anyway.

Obama and Holder better be careful the next administration in 2012 may look at their civilian bombing deaths in Afghanistan as war crimes against the innocent. At least Bush captured enemy combatants and imprisoned them. The new policy is to bomb everyone and pretend they are all enemy combatants. The death toll in Afghanistan is rising on both sides - where is the media like they were when Bush was inoffice. Tme to report despite the fct your dem comrades are in charge. Congress to GOP in 2010 and anybody but Obama in 2012.

"In a funny way, I think that should this torture investigation go forward, it might actually minimize the likelihood that there will be criminal probes into other Bush-administration transgressions." You've already found them guilty of 'transgressions'. I don;t see the word 'alleged' in there anywhere! Where did you find this alleged "journalist"?

Why not just treat our terrorist prisoners to the best we have to offer, such as rooms in the best hotels instead of cells at Gitmo, steak with every meal, cable tv and etc.Lets also forget what these same terrorist "guests" did to Danial Pearle and our citizens and soldiers over there.Wake up America before the democrats ruin our country once and for all.

America will go down in history together with nazi Germany, for the complete war crimes of an administration, from a war on terror against the muslim nation, the errosion of civil liberties, to false flag terror attacks on its own citizens, abu grhaib , and g-bay was bushs very own gulags, without accountability for the last 8 monsterous orwellian years, the world including your allies, will never trust you again, this is a fact, Americ ashould ask herself if he is part of the civilzed moral and legal international community or not ? good luck

Bush and Cheney's use of Rendition and Torture was done in the name of all Americans. The only way to remove this "damned spot" from our nation's reputation and history is to require accountability for those who cross the line of decency and humanity. Not only did these violate the US Constitution but it also violated the Geneva Convention of 1975 to which we were signatories. This convention not only bans torture but also rendition.

"There is great concern among the president's advisers that dredging up the torture issue could threaten President Obama's domestic agenda ..."

Well, then ... they should've appointed Bruce Fein, Republican and ex-associate deputy attorney general under Ronald Reagan. He specializes in constitutional and international law. AND, he sought to have George W Bush impeached before Democrats got on that wagon.

So, how could Republicans refute a Republican AG going after Bush & Cheney?!

Spoken like a true partisan politics victim.

The law is the law. Investigate, by all means. If we have to live by them then so does our government. If it is deemed a matter of national security to be able to torture suspects then it should be made a law, under the pervue of the judicary as to the grounds that warrant it, and with the information on the torture available for scrutiny with full transparency. Other than that it leaves WAY too much room for abuse that will eventually come back and bite our country.

If they really feel ambitious, maybe we could investigate how we got in this financial mess instead. Wall Street players have now managed to do more damage to our country than Osama Bin Laden or any terrorists could ever have dreamed of.
