This man is a national treasure.
I had lived in Canada for 15 years. During that time I paid the employee share of the Canadien (Quebec) health care plan. My wife and I also paid our employee share into the system. At no point was health care a financial burden, just a normal cost of doing business and an equal burden/employee as all other businesses faced. During those 15 years my wife and I enjoyed excellent health care. We both happened to require hospital care and experienced excellent, prompt and professional care. Until the United States adopts a single payer system private insurance companies will continue to deny health care in order to maximize profit and extract our healthcare dollars for their bureaucratic processes.
Interestingly enough congress does not have to participate in universal health care. If it is so great then they should all be in too - but just like the failing public schools we are forced intoo their kids go to private schools.

Cannabis & Cancer - The Science

I retired from the practice of medicine after 45 years of caring for patients. I think I've seen it all, including the cheap tricks monied interests have played on the American public to keep us from meaningful health care reform.
I am genuinely worried that It's going to happen again: costs will continue to rise and "the best health care system in the world" will be unavailable to more and more citizens in this, the richest country in the world.
We must act now for the health of all of us, in the interests of our grandchildren and for our mutual economic survival. Please have the courage, finally to support what's been blocked for my entire lifetime. Senator Kennedy knows what he's talking about.

I'm American but I moved to Spain. This is one of the big reasons. I still love the US and return frequently...and I usually try even harder not to get into a car accident or even break a finger because I know it will end up costing me thousands of dollars since I'm not rich or poor.
As a former health care giver, I am shocked and saddened to see what has become of health care in America. $ 1. 4 million is being spent per day in DC by the health care lobbyists so your elected representative is getting taken care of and has quality health care we pay for and can't afford ourselves for our families, I know what is deemed, defended and supported in Tennessee and Virginia as quality health care and clearly profit care comes ahead of patient care. http://www.wisecountyissues.com/?p=62 MRSA ( methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureas ) is infesting our communities because filthy, uncaring hospitals and emergency rooms are breeding them and spreading them into our schools, homes, restaurants. How many more Americans' will be diseased or die while 74 % of Americans' are begging for health care reform ? More people died in America last year from MRSA complications than AIDS. When MRSA and a flu bug start mixing, it won't be pretty and we are being infected by the very health care system we depend on and trust to keep us safe and healthy. If we had "the best health care" in the world then why does RAM ( Remote Area Medical ) come to Wise County, Virginia year after year so people can go to the fairgrounds and stand in a line like cattle in the hot July sun just to see a health care provider ??? America's health care system is a disgraceful sham !
The work begins anew. The hope rises again. The dream will never die!
Thank you Senator Kennedy for all the work you have put into health care for everyone over the years. I hope this time we finally tackle universal health coverage for all. Many of the uninsured are young people, so the costs of adding them will not be that great. I hope that health care reform also includes dental work, since that is part of health care and performed by doctors.
In my humble opinion, Congressman and Senators should continue working on health care, even if it means missing their August Recess. The need by business and consumers for reform is great, and health care legislation that includes some form of a government plan must pass this year.
Thank you Ted, my Senator, for all your work on this great cause. Call the Gang of Six. Do not be fooled by any plan, including the Senator from Oregon, which does not include a public option.
