Thank you for this photo essay, which only scrapes the surface of the environmental costs we are paying. People say we cannot afford to fight global warming. But the real question should be - can we afford to do nothing.

In addition, to saving the planet, green technology is a multi-trillion dollar industry. I hold stocks in several green technology companies and they are making a nice profit. I want "mo' money", and green technology is the growth engine of the future. The GOP and the Tea-baggers are messing with my portfolio.

Re the disaster in Madhya Pradesh, India, the pesticide company in question was US-based Union Carbide. The disaster could have been avoided if basic safety measures had not been eschewed in the name of profits. Ah, the greed of mankind!

The real disaster is the information we are presented. I guess in the rush to get words out we fail to stop and proof read what is written. The article on the oil spills has the Exxon Valdez leaking 50,000 Million gallons of oil. The problem, the tanker holds 800 time less then that. It had only 1.26 Million Barrels on board for a total of 53 Million gallons, a far cry from 50,000 million. The worst part of this is someone will read this and take it as truth.
