If, as I do, you want the Republican Party to be responsible to the people in being honest, conscientious, diligent and effective in pursuing moderately conservative policies, then we really can't accept them being otherwise. Some years ago, likely starting subtly with Reagan, they began to be focused on Special Interests and a select few who would provide them overt and covert support, substantial contributions and even promised after-office personal financial gain, all while they became less and less concerned for the people and instead more and more dependent on subterfuge, with the powerful support of their backers, to manipulate public opinion. We saw it being at its worst with Bush-Cheney and that really cost us greatly. Now we see the same efforts being aggressively undertaken as they seek to destroy Barack Obama and all efforts undertaken by the Democrats, while they themselves fail to offer anything real for the people and again only benefit to Special Interests and a select few as they strive to return to 'more of the same'. Their current blind and belligerent focus on just dishonestly faulting and criticizing, on aggressively being obstructionists disguised as conservatives, which is being consistently debunked by most everyone (notably by the impartial and objective), provides nothing for the people, in fact it blocks any progress including where compromise should be sought and real progress is desperately needed. It isn't okay to now just say that the Democrats have faults, and of course they do, or to allow our biases, prejudices or previous attachments to emotionally control us and then allow us to be manipulated once again, as that just encourages 'more of the same'. What is needed is a rational objectivity that not only questions what the Democrats say but that also strongly scrutinizes what the Republican Party says and doesn't allow our strings to be pulled, especially not by deceptive third party efforts, resulting once more in being manipulated like puppets at their service. Things are just too important and the deception and manipulation too costly in allowing a return to 'more of the same'.

After titling his article "Obama's unwise fixation on the past", being the typical leftist Weisberg blames Bush yet again anyway. This time, Bush is to blame for Obama's blundering - Obama's unprincipled, aimless and leadership-free approach to foreign and domestic policy surely would not be the case if it hadn't been for Bush!

While this is surely a novel way to blame Bush, it is still an attempt to foist Obama's failures, poor management and poor decision-making on someone else. Feh on you and others like you.

Socialists always try to blame others for their own shortcomings. Ayn Rand describes in detail this psychology of the "second-handers" in her novels and non-fiction work. "You are your brother's keeper" goes hand-in-hand with "My problems are all caused by my brother!"

Weisberg, Obama's problems result from the fact that he doesn't have any leadership skills, and doesn't have the right experience to be the President Who Makes Major Changes. Reagan was a leader, he was elected because of what he said he believed. Obama was elected because he said what people wanted to hear. Big difference, and one that will be fatal to Obama.

The Pope took a couple of days off to visit the rugged mountains of

Maine for some sightseeing. He was cruising along a campground on the

Penobscot when there was a frantic commotion just at the edge of the

    Woods.

A helpless Democrat, wearing sandals, shorts, a 'Vote for Obama' hat and

A 'Save the Trees' t-shirt, was screaming while struggling frantically

And thrashing around trying to free himself from the grasp of a 10-foot

    Black Bear.

As the Pope watched in horror, suddenly out from the woods, came a

Group of Republican loggers at lightning speed. All were wearing "Go

Sarah" t-Shirts. One quickly fired a 44 magnum into the bear's chest.

The other two reached up and pulled the bleeding, semiconscious

Democrat from the bear's grasp. Then using long clubs, the three loggers

Finished off the bear and two of them threw it onto the bed of their

Truck while the other tenderly placed the injured Democrat in the back

    Seat.

As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned them to come over. "I give

You my blessing for your brave actions!" he told them. "I heard there

Was a bitter hatred between Republican loggers and Democratic

Environmental activists, but now I've seen with my own eyes that this is

    Not true."

As the Pope drove off, one logger asked his buddies "Who was that guy?"

"It was the Pope," another replied. "He's in direct contact with Heaven

And has access to all wisdom."

"Well," the logger said, "he may have access to all wisdom, but he

Doesn't know squat about bear hunting! By the way, is the bait still

Alive, or do we need to go back to Massachusetts and get another one?"
