Ms Begley proposes that the human???s wiring for God may not be so secure???

Every human being is born with the ability to diverse spiritual interaction. It is part and parcel of natural human psychological setup. The very characteristic which separates man from animal, from the beginning, despite physical and empirical resemblances with animals. We see that in every child that is born ??? it???s imaginary excursions, superhuman and extra-terrestrial fantasies, love, emotions, etc. This ability later on in life develops to Spiritual intelligence (relating to the soul or spirit energy, in contrast to material things), apart from empiric intelligence (relating to material things in contrast to the soul or spirit), which enables that human to have interaction in various degrees with the pinnacle of all spirituality ??? God. Infants and small children have no problem to perceive God, for they are pure.

The problems arises when some people (a very small proportion), neglect this ability. Any ability requires practice, including spiritual ability. Every neglected ability becomes a disability??? spiritual incapability. The rodents of ignorance all but destroyed their neglected spiritual wiring.

The extreme manifestation of this spiritual disability, is called atheism. To overcome, they form a delusion that only recognizes the empirical sciences, whilst empirical sciences are only the manifestations of what initiates in the spiritual realm.
Wind and energy are good examples. You can only see their manifestations, but not the spiritual (unseen) source. Spirituality is specific energy. The atheist is oblivious of this fact due to their peculiar disability. The atheist is thus oblivious to such a large portion of reality. Their condition is brought on by themselves.

I am Portuguese and strongly object to what was written about Portugal. Our republic is a highly secular country (as enshrined in its constitution both in theory and in practice) and church attendance is decreasing year on year. Young people - and not-so-young too - are now, more than ever, staying away from religion. If anything, many people will 'do the basics' in church in order to have a religious marriage (that's tradition) and then cop out entirely. And yet, it's true, we do remain a highly dysfunctional society.
However, you don't have to look far to see precisely the opposite happening: take Spain, a neighbouring country, with its highly functional society based on traditional, conservative values, and look as how much more highly regarded and attended the church is. Or look at some northern European countries which are supposed to be 'more advanced' than sourthern European countries but whose church-state relation is so close that it begs belief. I'm talking about the UK, where the Prime Minister can't be of a religion other than Church of England (Anglican). Or Finland, where part of your taxes will inevitably end up in a local parish. That would disgust any Portuguese person.
Please do your homework before starting saying nonsense.
