Mrs. Lotz, I 'llbet you father would be really proud of you, you seem to stand for everthing he was against, plus you must be a little wimpy yourself. The members of the Episcopal Communion, other than the Council of Bishops, just happen to believe we don't want gays teaching our families their style of life. And, we may be a bunch of boozers having an argument, but, I is none of you affair, so please keep you nose out of it.

As one of the leading hermeneuticisists and professors of the Lutheran church used to say (in his characteristic, Don Rickles classroom style, designed to eliminate false piety among first year seminarians), "Run your parish like a Polish priest, preach like a Southern Baptist, and dress like an Episcopalian -- they don't believe in anything, but they know how to wear the vestments...."

"i desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings" (hosea)...
the jewish laws that enjoined sacrifice of animals as atonement for individual sins or the people's were already overturned in the old testament (hosea is a minor prophet in the OT)

and to the person who said earlier that slavery was defeded by the bible, that is also not true to the words of the new testament, no matter how wickedly some may have tried to use the bible for their own interests:
"there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (galatians)

if you look closely at that passage, much is condemned in that one verse: racial prejudice, slavery, male chauvinsim/feminism...
