You know I saw someone say that Socialism was tried and failed in Germany and USSR, so why would we want it here? Ummmm.... US isn't trying to go totally Socialist like those countries were. It's leaning more towards Democratic Socialism. Which is what Germany is under. You vote for your gov't, but good ol' American Capitalism is checked by gov't regulation to help prevent monopolies and runaway costs. Which brings to the healthcare plan. Really. What's so wrong with it? People are turning it down just because Socialism is associated with it. Does EVERYTHING American have to scream Capitalism and Democracy? Pure Capitalist Democracy is horrible. It breeds excessive individualism and ego-centrics. We have a check and balance system on the gov't, but what about the people? Nothing. We're not taking care of ourselves, so the gov't (as is it's duty and obligation) must step in until we can pull our heads out of dark places and pull together. Maybe then we'll deserve a wholly privatized system again. I'm not advocating total Socialization, because that system stunts growth. I'm just saying that maybe American Capitalism needs a break for a while.

What's uncertain about having a centralized insurance plan is having our money collecting in another big pool that would be easily earmarked for something else or "borrowed from" as Social Security, or manipulated in "other" ways. At the Town Meeting in Colorado, President Obama said that people would still be able to have private insurance. What is seriously disturbing is I had shingles and my Valtrex cost me $400 for 30 pills. In Canada Valtrex is www.BlueSkyDrugs.com/Valtrex 500 mg 90 Tablets $141, A Tab $1.56 Branded. You all want to make our medicine more fair? Put the compassion and justice back and stop quibbling who is a Socialist. It's all about the pharmaceutical Big Pharma rip off. One of the first things done in Iraq was to get control over who supplies them their medicine and make money. People quit over it. I don't know which company routes it now. Maybe France. Why do we have as much as 1000% mark ups for our meds compared to the rest of the world? Because they CAN charge us that much. Start to fix this medical mess THERE! (Why don't they just build pharmaceutical companies in Afghanistan and make their opium derivatives legal? Oh... you think they wouldn't make enough money on illicit drugs that way? Americans pay 1000% mark ups anyway! At least it would be going towards pills instead of guys running around playing war games... and Afghanistan could have domain over a decent business.

You mentioned 46 million uninsured Americans and last night I watched a program that indicated that that # is woefully inflated due to approx. 30 million of those who are under age 30 and choose not to elect coverage. Who's right?
