I have mentioned in discussions with friends that this is a free country....you have to right to hate whoever you want for whatever reason!! Should you? I dont think so, and I am talking about personal belief, not violence, but technically, that is what this country is (supposed to be) all about.

So black skin " never meaant better than unless you were talking about dancing, singing, or basketball" Isnt that a form of racism? If you re-read the definition of racism: "ideology that all members of each racial group possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially to distinguish it as being either superior or inferior to another racial group." I would guess that her statement is racist itself.

I think somethings that are called racist are really just stereotypes. We are all guilty of judging by stereotypes at somepoint or another, and I think they get confused too often. Its not necessarily wrong to stereotype either.... if I gave every homeless bum hitchiking by the interstate a ride, just because he might NOT be a violent, drugged-up transient that stereotyping says he is, I'd probably eventually end up carjacked and dead. If I avoid someone, of any race, in a lonely parking lot, whose pants are 3 sizes too big and their huge hoodie could be hiding a weapon...its not racism reguardless of their race...its stereotyping and Im going to keep doing it.

I would like to commend Raina for not shying away from the topic and to state things as they are. I find it ironic that the same people who oppose this president's policies are the ones who said that to oppose Bush's policies would be unpatriotic and un-American even though those policies were clearly against America's long term and short term interests and ideals. Perhaps there are people who have legitimate reasons to oppose the president's policies, but certainly they are egged on by people who are not afraid to fan the worst fears and residual racism in segments of the population.
