The problem with East Jerusalem is not the fate of the Arab neighborhoods and the Old City, with its historical sites, but rather the ever-expanding settlements around it and deep into the West Bank, which encroach the Arab part of the city, isolate it from the rest of the WB and blocks the access of millions of Palestinians to their source of income.

Israel pretends that these large settlements are integral part of the Holy City, as a ploy to avoid relinquishing this strategic land to their rightful owners, and jeopardizing the viability of the future Palestinian State.

This is a non-starter. The settlers will have to go.
