Im a pittsburgher and PItt alumnus...The city is pretty much in bankruptcy. Its going to need a bailout from the state b/c it sold off all its assets to payoff bills 20+ years ago. It is very poorly managed and although pittsburgh has undergone a facelift of sorts, it is still pretty ugly underneath...but somehow I still love it!

These summit protests are a mismash of legitimate interest groups with misplaced fears of the global economy, and anarchists trying to start riots -- found a cool site; Balkingpoints ; incredible satellite view of earth

Die Merkel blamiert Deutschland auf ganzer Linie - nun auch in Pittsburgh

The Merkle is seriously abusing the trust that the voters put in her four years ago in 2005. Moreover, the Merkle - in office for four years - supports the perpetrators in order to ensure that these criminals can continue to violate human rights. It's even worse: The human right situation has drastically deteriorated since the Merkle came into power.
The criticism of the Bundeswehr's airstrike in Afghanistan highlights the meanwhile battered reputation of Germany. Even its allies have already received the impression that Germany does not guarantee an effective protection of human rights.
The television pictures can hardly hide the fact that the political prestige of the Merkle is already ruined. On one of the last G20-summit the Merkle had already to rush after the other heads of government so that the cameramen could film her - strenuously grinning - at least in front of Barack Obama's back of the head.
With respect to growing resentment among allies about the difficult human right situation in Germany the Merkle sent a note of protest to Germany's allies and summoned ambassadors to the foreign ministry.
Merkle's farce has to be stopped as soon as possible.

Like Howard Fineman, I too hail from Pittsburgh. I also received both an undergrad and grad degree from Carnegie Mellon. I am, like most 'Burghers - proud to call Pittsburgh "home." But that is all Mr. Fineman and I have in common. Yes, Pittsburgh is the home of some of the finest universities and therefore some of the best minds this country has to offer. But no, Pittsburgh is not a model city of how to turn things around. How could a city that continues to lose its finest graduates from those universities to other cities be such a success story? How could a city lose so many top 500 corporations and be such a success story? Those who run Pittsburgh continue to see the only way to raise revenues is by fees and taxes and we keep losing quality companies and people. Ongoing? Yes. Success? Not from here - still living within an hour of Pittsburgh.

Yinzcam is the company that made the cell phone app (Yinzcam, Inc.). The application itself is called iBurgh. Yinzcam is something different, which allows users to view special camera angles at sporting events.

This is awesome. For years people have written about the "Pittsburgh comeback", but this is a great specific example of exactly how that-- and the American comeback-- will be happening. (www.pittsburghcomebackcom)
