If you want intelligent, thoughtful leadership, you need to temper your impulse for only seeing the immediate. You need to consider time and circumstance to recognize it. Don't form your opinions based on the headlines or partisanship of the day. Look at the long term planning and continual progression! That's what we smart folks do in the heartland.
Thanks for this informative article.
Here in Virginia, a lot of people are frustrated with Kaine's absences! We have major budget problems and could use a full time Governor.
There is also bewilderment and frustration with the relentlessly negative tone of the Democratic Party's gubernatorial campaign. Inevitably, Kaine is held partly responsible for the counterproductive attacks on the Republicans.
I like Kaine, but I never thought he was right for this job. He's the wrong guy. Democrats are in a multi-generational contest to persuade, attract and retain large coalitions of voting blocs, necessary to undo the damage done by conservatives over the past 40 years. The Bush 2 setback could easily be repeated and the damage would be even worse. Obama needs to be thinking much bigger than just his Presidency and Democrats must be aggressive and somewhat partisan to get the job done. Bring back Howard Dean. Obama should stop Rahm Emmanuel's grudge against Dean and ask the doctor-governor-party leader to help again before cozy-comfortable post-partisan Tim Kaine lets all the water out of the tub.
Governor Kaine is a class act - multi-tasking - Governor/DNC Chair. He is as effective as he needs to be at the moment. We are such an impatient society...slow the roll, folks. Let us let our leaders do quality work in a statesmanly manner. No cowboys this time - some thoughtful leadership and that takes a little time. God bless our country.
Another in a long line of without a clue opinions by the writer. I have no idea how effective Tim Kaine is as chair of the party, but I am absolutely sure that window dressing Steele is definitely not the model to follow as Ms. Bailey seems to think. Oh, yeah, she dutifully notes that Steele has been both positive and negative, but the snarkiness factor is in full bloom as usual in her entire article and said snarkiness is no substitute for true analysis and actual thinking. One would think that, with print journalism dying on the vine, Newsweek could find a better writer.
Too many words, I don't have time to read of all these, oops, did I just say that? lol, thank you.
