Too bad Alter hasn't checked the evidence for charter schools. If he had, he might have noticed that the two most rigorous studies done indicate that there is no difference between charter schools and public schools in improving student learning. As for teacher performance appraisal, I'm all fro it as soon as an effective method of doing that is developed. Meanwhile, the two red herrings of charter schools and teacher evaluation just distract us from the real issues in education. It is clear that we need more investment in public education.

Sorry not to live up to YOUR ideals of what I should be,( I promise to cry you a river) however facts are facts!

All the Kennedy polititians have weeped continually about the evil and corruption of this countrys' capitalistic system (which, ideed does circumvent Democracy at every turn with major aid from the Kennedy clan) all the time living the good life after the fact of putting the entirety of Big Joes' estate in a bank trust in the island nation of Fiji, of course for the betterment of the "little guy" and NOT to escape paying their fair share of taxes all the while crying about income redistribution!

Teddy did manage to clear his eyes long enough to eternally vote YES on congressional wage raises and NO on criminal responsability (including removal of retirement benifits of congressmen and women when convicted of criminal activities while supposedly doing the idiot simple job of representing the whishes of the majority in a democratic society)!

Oh, and there was the infinitesimal issue of at least leaving a woman to die infavor of a good nights rest, or what most believe, he WAS driving HIS car and commited vehicular manslaughter combined with leaving the scene of a crime/accident!

Yeah, you are right, fatboy Teddy was just swell!

Michelle Rhee tried this pay for performance model, also. She got a lot of papers with incredible numbers of erasures, and she paid 20% bonuses to those who did the most cheating. Heaven help us if this model becomes the norm.
