Just what I want a president that has not voted yes or no to anything just present, also wants to take and raise taxes to the rich and businesses, do you not rember 6 months ago with oil prices rising what did all the big business do when the were charged more they passed it on to the middle class and everybody else do you realy thing the rich are going to take higher taxes without passing that cost to the middle class then shame on all of you that believe this will not happen and how about forcing business to use union workers now how does this help the economy except forcing big business to leave and go to other countries and how do we collect higher taxes from those who leave. I do not believe McCain is the best person either but between the two I think McCain would be the to do less damage then taxem high Barack and for those who are only voting because he is black learn all facts before making a decision. I almost for got the if they don't offer you heath insurance from your business then we are going to fine them, how about figuring how to decrease the cot of heath insurance before you put the company I work for and many others out of work and then can become homeless.

A trend of great concern is the partnership of major consumer directory services with companies that compile so called ???public-records??? databases.

Talk about Palin not having experience (she's not even in the driver's seat). Obama has only been a senator for 2yrs before he started working on his eye on the presidential seat. He has no clue when it comes to foreign policy & just as lacking in the economic world. He doesn't seem to have a clue about what make America--well America. CAPITOLISM!!! Socialist ideas are nice but they don't inspire people to be the best!!

I have been a devout democrat for 22yrs until this election. I wish people would stop being so influenced by race, media & famous people endorsements. Do your own research on each candidate THOROUGHLY & w/ an open mind. I feel neither candidate is great. However, when it comes to doing the least amount of harm I feel that it will have to be McCain. NO-- that doesn't make me a racist!

This election is the most historical and symbolic in the American history. An Afro-American becoming the president of the USA is becoming real and functional. I hope and wish that the American electorate select a candidate who is inspirational, motivated, far-sighted, intelligent, wise, cool and possesses intellectual Minerva.

They must wear blinkers when they cast their votes and do not look at the complexion, pigmentation and origin of the candidates but reward the one who offers a change for the better for the American people and would bring respect to US image abroad.

How could she claim to be a good Christian to allow her young daughter to have illicit sex, get pregnant and give birth to an illegitimate child? Is it because she is a good Christian and does not believe in abortion? Could she distinguish which of the two sins is greater than the other? I consider that she has duplicitous morality and Christian ethics.

I, also find it so funny that Obama feels that he has been single out because he is black and he does'nt look like the past Pres. I do not hear the real american indian whinning aboutny Obama how hard has he had it in Indian country. i also do not like to hear his Wife saying that this is the first time she been proud of this country. Obama stop WHINNING. HARVARD GRAD.

I always find it funny when Obama cries foul. After all, his ads, however truthful, outnumber McCain's 4 to 1 so at that ratio, a lot of truth can bury a little lies...

Look at it this way. When most citizens receive the word on Nov 4th, there will be only the echoes from this last Presidential election. Because of that, this letter won???t concern those candidates. They belong to history, yet history does not belong to them. That not being a riddle, I???ll explain. Since 1828, when Andrew Jackson campaigned using his partisan newspapers, there have been many attempts at reining in the prohibitive costs of elections. Few were successful. This election was offered an uncomplicated accord to contain such expenditures. That was to use the $3 taxpayers make on their tax refunds to fund a system whereby nominees would receive a dollar for every dollar they raise but limits to $84 million the amount they can spend between their party???s convention and Election day.

Problems with this approach multiplied as when one party received privately-raised funds, which happened with Republicans, then the agreement was void. But, the most stubborn hurdle was that this wasn???t a binding approach at all but simply a handshake agreement. Yet, there can be no faulting Democrats not entering this general election fund since limiting their campaign to such reduced funds made no sense. As a result, the largest hope chest in history was assembled as well as the greatest financial differential between two candidates.

But, I feel this system is still salvageable by making it clearly binding and not at any campaign???s will. This would run counter to the 1st Amendment right of Americans to contribute freely to the candidate of their choice, but to contribute freely once more will likely fuel another unbridled and unfair marketing of the Presidency. This aim there is to sell yet another election to the highest bidder which does not strike me as the intent of Jeffereson, Franklin and the boys who could never in their wildest dreams have imagined the mind numbing effects of stylized television imagery. That imagery can never be stopped. It can only and hopefully be equalized, so what Obama and his minions did this year will go down as a second day of Infamy

The moderator is the first person in the media to address the fact that Obama has been using negativity in his continual references to Sen McCain as "erratic." And he was the first to engage in such disrespectful conduct. Cheers to the moderator.. but notice how Obama still did not even admit that this was negative?

Obama has not had any experience on the national level to warrant his running to become the leader of the free world. Obama has failed to take a stand one way or the other during his short time in the US Senate. Voting present is so empty I would liken it to cowardliness. One thing is for sure however; Obama is not free to flip flap back and forth on his own: he is under the thumb of the left leaning militants who answer the call of being leaders of the people of color, Louis Farrakhan; Jesse Jackson has even felt compelled to want to cut his ....off. As a black man, I do not want the first black president to be a failed president.

Good journalism should be fair and unbiased. Newsweek should know that. Poor choice in your cover. Palin is running for Vice-President, Obama is running for President...we should qualify that. Where is Biden and McCain on your cover???? Not newsworthy enough to sell magazines???? No...just not pretty enough...and then some are made less pretty than others.

  • Posted By: carolgreen @ 10/08/2008 11:30:36 AM

I will never purchase another Newsweek in my life. I am outraged at your cover on Palin. You jerks, I am one of the folks. What makes you so superior ? You are obviously so slanted to the left that it is a real turn off for anyone trying to make a decision. I like the facts presented to me.What every happened to good
journalism? I cannot believe how unfairly you have portrayed this woman. I have been reading Newsweek since I was a college student... no more. My eyes are wide open. I really think you are a despicable organization. One less reader..for LIFE. Carol Green and family

I'd like to shed some light on something. If your a democrat running for president this year on the slogan of
"hope," I would wish you could give me more to hope for then a canidate who never served in the military. Has any one asked Obama why he feels qualified to make political commitment to war when he himself has never served his country in this manner? Let me tell you that I have been to Iraq twice so far and can see the progress. What I cant see myself is following a man who has never served in the military.. you can not
buy that knowledge, you can not google it.

    • Posted By: ariesking33@hotmail.com @ 10/08/2008 2:49:04 AM

Hey great one! Im a veteran and if I recall, Bill Clinton never served in the military and he was a great president, unlike W, which has lead us deeper and deeper in recession. At least we never had a major deficit like we do now, wow!!! Buy yourself some knowlege and educate your mind about the issues in place. I commend you as a fellow veteran, but I dont share your opinion. The Iraq war was a diversion and you my friend should know this! We shifted our attention from Bin Laden and the Afgan/ Pakistani border! Had we not diverted and focussed on pursuing Osama, we could have crushed him years ago, then we could have overthrown Hussein. Mccain gave a statement that Iraq would be a quick finish and that was over 8 years ago! You can thank Mccain for cutting VA student loans and benefits, Check it out!!!

Obama keeps bragging he did not vote for the iiraqui war. hillary voted for it because it was what a senator should d0wyen your president bares trhe threat of weapons of mass destruction. she had no option but to believe ion the president.

not o vote for the war was to aid and abet the enemy. what obama did was bordering on treason not to cometo the support of your country.
