Lisa Miller: i think right now it's about 50%-50%. americans are very, very proud of our constution's protections of religion and they continue to be so. at the same time, americans are undoubtedly suspicious of muslims -- i know this from the mail i've been getting about the article. we're at a tipping point, a little bit.

Anywhere, USA: The perception of Muslim Americans has been so negative after 9/11 yet a significant number of Americans (60%) believe that the contribution from mMslim Americans isunparallal to any other group, yet they have been potrayed negetively in this country. What do you think to minimize the stereotyping of muslims in this country?

Lisa Miller: it's significant, i think, that in the newsweek poll younger americans were much more likely to say they personally knew a muslim than older americans. i think the best antidote to prejudice is personal connection and the more that we have muslims as oor friends, neighbors, coworkers, teachers, doctors, roomates, the less americans will be inclined toward bias and stereotyping

New Castle, IN: In light of the recent poll's findings, do you not think that it would be wise to dramatically decrease both illegal and legal immigration into this country, at least until we get a handle on who it is that has immigrated here?

Lisa Miller: i personally don't think so. i think it's the job of law enforecemtn to figure out who's dangerous and prevent /those people/ from coming here. not a whole group of people based on their religion or country of origin.

i congrulate Lisa Miller, she really has understood musl??ms although she isn't. A Musl??m can't k??ll anyone. If he does, he can not be a Muslim. There isn't anything like that in Quran. It isn't jihad. i recommend you to read Quran before deciding about Muslim. also we are sorry about that they say 'islamic terrorism'. islam is reflecled as terrorisim activity but it isn't. There is tolerant in it.

I think the problem lies in the fact that the most puritanical Muslims are also the loudest in terms of expressing their viewpoint. Although many Islamic moderates have attempted to convey their views to the public, the extremists are able to do so in a much more sensationalist and shocking manner. The press is always drawn to the most lurid stories it can find, and the moderates just aren't all that exciting, meaning that they get pushed to the side in favor of the flash-bang words and actions of the extremists.

    Mr.Krohn,
Senator Obama was a professor of american constitution at Harvard and a highly accomplishedand brilliant academician,he was not elected because Media or somebody feeling guilty or because of his Race..
American democracy is Very much alive and Vibrant.Americans have voted for Republican candidates,Smart or Dumb and also voted the same way for Democratic Party. There is no Affirmative action in American democracy. At the same time Presidency is not entitled for only a certain group of ethnicity in the past or in the future.May the best candidate win in future elections irrespective of the color of their Eyes,Hair or Skin.
