A reminder to all democrats who believe their party did not want the war did not believe info on WMD as they all now claim. Our soldiers did a great job and displaced one of the most brutal dictator's in the world. It is estimated that he tortured and murdered 500,000 Iraqis. Burn in hell Saddam Hussien.

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
    -- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
    -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
    -- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
    -- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
    -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

Been there and going back. Thank you for your article. Those that don't understand, never will. So many people are willing to fight against the war. They say all kinds a things. Some may be right and make good points. I am just a soldier. I do what I am told. America told me to go here and fight these people. So I went. War is ugly and people will die. If it wasn't then we might grow to found of it. Stated by Gen. Lee. This nation was founded on war. This nation has saved the world twice with the help of its noble allies. Soldiers are some of the most disiplined people. How many of you commenting on what the iraqis felt or this and that could watch a friend die and then not kill the man you capture responsible. How many of you can go to a far off land for months away from everything you loved. Less than 10 percent because thats all that serve this nation in the military. the rest are too busy living lives we dream about on our cot. I don't hate those who protest or call me names. I don't hate you when you go to my friends funnerals and protest. Because when I go to bed at night I know you are who I am fighting for too.

what are you talking about? who are you? I will give you an example. My wife is a graduate, yet unemployed. I have a two month old daughter, half of last year i was in Training to come to iraq. Left home for Iraq in Dec. 2007 and will get home in March/April in 2009. You know what that means; two chrismas without my family. I have lost friends in Iraq this year, almost each day a soldier is killed. This guys have to re-think. I love my country, but we need a plan, those that fail to plan, plan to fail. Mccain should remember this is not 50's or 60's or 70s. This is 2008, there is no POW in Iraq, once you are captured, you are gone. Obama should not play with us because he wants to win. we are not just a number, we are human, we have families and lives.

What does a soldier in Iraq want to hear? That he is not loved? Not supported. And besides the media what other sources have I got to learn about the war?

    • Posted By: gigaxpress @ 09/29/2008 1:22:26 AM

who are you? what are you taking about? I am in Taji, Iraq since Dec. 2007 and i am not getting home until April 2009. This is not a war. I have lost alot of friends this year. You don't know what you are taking about. all of you, come here and see. You guys talk about the cost (money) of the war, what about the lifes. This is bad. Mccain and Obama should come here and lives with us for a month and see. Mccain this is 2008 not 50's or 60's or 70's. There is no POW in IRAQ, when you are capture, you are dead.

Wake up! I may not know everything about this war and what is going on over there in Iraq. But, I can tell you that we have to be there right now. If American forces pull out any time in the near future the worlds economy will become more unstable. And you think the number of people dying is high right now. You need to look at the bigger picture and all parties involved in this conflict. For example, If we leave (Americans and Nato) Iran will walk right in and take whatever they want in whatever way they wish. And that is just one of the countries that are interested in taking control of Iraq for its oil. And lets look at the other factors involved. If some government like Iran's takes over Iraq a lot of Iraqis might get slaugthered just because they are Kurdish or practice other beliefs. And then consider how much and in how many ways our own economy and way of living is dependant on oil and other resources from the middle east. It is not just gas for our cars or heating oil for our homes. We make many types of products using oil, including plastics used to make our computers, cell phones, cars, toys, cloths and medical instruments just to name to a few. If all the oil in the world went away at once we would be so devasted in more ways then most people realize. I have the up most respect for our military members and all those who are working hard to make Iraq stable and hopefully a better place to live for it's own people. I believe if they had more support from the American people they would be able to get here jobs down qiucker and be home sooner. I am sure that would make everyone happy! I wish there could be a war with no deaths but that is not possible in our world. And you can't fight the devil ( terrorist) with nice words and a slap on the hand. Come on people wake up! Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire to win a war.

Look that old retarded saying has gotten old, Why now, tell me what the mission is.. I have been in iraq 3 times and going for the fourth. I thought we we went into iraq to free the iraqis or was it wmd, ok, i'm stupid was it because they attacked america, wait no hijacker was iraqi.... I only see one enemy IEDs, but wait who are the snipers, just like before i see people supporting untruth. Republicans need to ask themselves this, why did reagan negotiate with the terrorist, and why did pres. Bush sr. not allow us to go into iraq in 1990, they blamed clinton but the truth is the track record points to other republican presidents....HMMM that seems interesting.

It is important that we not allow the media to report politically as they have been shown to do. They should not take a political side, but currently it seems as though reporters have shown themselves unable to accomplish this. Or their bosses (paying their checks) direct them what to put out via mass media to the American public. An example of this is a certain new agency forcing all of its reporters/news anchors to call the Iraq War a Civil War. Frog, you have multiple blogs and several news angencies reporting on the war. What is lacking is objectivity. Objectivity is something we all tend to lose when we become personally involved in some conflict, especially an internecine one like Iraq War. This particularly becomes a problem when news reporting is a business intended to make money. Of course don't take too much time considering what I've said, I've only been deployed to Iraq twice.

Funny. So, do I gather that Americans like to go to war? When I spoke of sacrifices in the name of peace, not war, I meant giving up territories, not people who sacrifice their lives. I would really like to know what the Americans think? I am only a stupid Bulgarian raised on peace cliches. And what does a soldier in Iraq

  • Posted By: skd500 @ 07/01/2008 10:16:57 PM

I am saddened every time I hear that we have lost yet another soldier, and I don't want the press to stop reporting to us, just because it has lost public interest in viewers and doesn't sell as many newspapers. It is IMPORTANT that we not desensitize to this and accept it as everyday life, because when we stop caring about the stories......when we grow tired of hearing about Iraq.......when we stop reading the letters........they lose something very important............OUR LOVE..........and that is ALL we have to GIVE, all we have to SEND, all we have to SACRIFICE for them, to give them the courage to go on...........don't stop sending them that simple message, ever................ My prayers and cares...........skd500

Regardless of what anybody thinks of the war itself, it's important to remember the men and women of the armed forces that are away from their families fighting this war. Yes people might disagree with the reasons the war is fought but like any other american in the United States the men and women in uniform are doing their jobs. Even if you don't support the war, support them. That's what they want and need. The moment they realize they have no support is the moment they give up the will to go on.

Although non-military, I am a chaplain who has had the honor of standing with moms, dads, families as they embrace the death of a part of their futures. The soldiers in this story represent the future that will never be. I pray for the comfort of the families that must traverse this grif journey. I pray for those who are in harms way that may loss their lives in battles for a country that may or may not appreciate their sacrifice. I appreciate the sacrifice of our soldiers and their families!!!!

I would hope that everyone would just support our men and women over there doing what they are ordered to do? I would love more than anyone for this war to end no matter what its cause or nature!! I have 3 son's that are in the army and all 3 are in Iraq doing what they are doing to support this country and provide a life for their families. I think it is sad that people are so centered on religion or oil or econemy? Where is the support and just the support for all the men and women that are doing a job that frankly not everyone is willing to do? I don't agree with the war itself, but I support every single person that is over there fighting, no matter what your view is on war, or politics, these men and women and their families deserve the respect and honor from all their fellow americans.. This country needs to stand up and support the men and women in the military and stop trying to destroy their pride in themselves. It is the negitive feedback and the negitive views that keep this country from being great... I usually don't say much and just let folks say what they feel and just keep my own views to myself, but you know after seeing what my dad went through after coming home from a war and the disrespect that was given to all of the men that fought in the veitnam war, this is what kind of shame it is coming too for our men and women now.. well I am proud of my dad and all of my son's for being who they are and for standing up and taking action and loving their country enough to risk everything for it. I will not respond to any negative feedback nor is this meant to anyone on this post. It is just one mom hoping that all the negative thoughts about our men and women would stop... it is not our military men and women that ask for this war and believe me they would all rather be home doing what your doing.. NOTHING.. but they at least are making the best of it all the best they can and I know first hand that they need and want everyone in this FREE COUNTRY'S SUPPORT...Until the last ones boots come back home please support our troops.. if the conflict was here right now you would be begging for our men and women to take arms and help you so remember that because it very well could come to that at any given moment in time..

Wowsa. So much bitterness. I cannot believe that people can rant and rave so much in a country with religious freedom. I know of no religion that supports this type of behavior. I hope that people begin talking to their religious leaders before they make comments that are aimed to hurt and demean others. I know as a christian that Jesus would not be at all happy with many of these comments - especially if they were made by christians. Love thy neighbor - get with it folks - especially anyone that thinks humanity is worth anything at all.

This story wasn't for any of you who have chimed in with your .02 cents. It is about the brave warriors who sacrificed their lives.

Please think about that before you decide to post anymore disgusting words. Show some respect.

No matter how you portray it, I still believe that the soldiers died for NOTHING. Nobody gains nothing from this war except the business people who produce and supply the materials for this war from food, clothing, communication equipment, medicine, war machines and ammunitions. Please also remember the war vets who survived but either maimed or bear the scars of war. Don't just listen to one side of the story. Listen to what the Iraqis have to say. The US are killing the wrong people and not their true enemies. Listen to what the war vets has to say - (Veterans Against War In Iraq).

It's a pity you omitted the words of hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis.
