This oral history of the Iraq War was extracted from the personal writings of American service members. The material was gathered by Dan Ephron, Daren Briscoe, Ty Brickhouse, Jac Chebatoris, Sarah Childress, Eve Conant, Samantha Henig, Gretel C. Kovach, Jonathan Mummolo, Andrew Murr, Jamie Reno and Catharine Skipp; with the help of photo editors Jamie Wellford, Beth Ferraro, Leah Latella and Tamara Yadao; and researchers Karen Fragala Smith, Madeline Cohen, Judy Ganeles, Dana Gordon, Sam Register, Anthony Skaggs and Susan Szeliga.
