What are podcasts?
Podcasts are online audio programs that you can listen to on your personal computer or portable devices such as the popular Apple iPod or other MP3 players. Owners of these devices can set their computers to download automatically the latest programs from any podcaster, such as NEWSWEEK. Think of these podcasts as audio magazine subscriptions or portable on-demand radio shows; they're delivered to you, and you can listen to them at your leisure. There are thousands of podcasters on the Internet today, broadcasting personalized radio shows with music, news and commentary. Many are created by tech-savvy individuals and at-home DJs, but increasingly, big media outlets are experimenting with the format.

How can I use podcasts?
It's possible to listen to podcasts using desktop audio players such as Windows Media Player or RealPlayer. But most users listen to podcasts on their iPods or other portable devices. This portability is part of the appeal. Podcasts can be downloaded and listened to at the user's discretion—while commuting or shopping for groceries. If you already have podcasting software like iTunes, use this link to download our shows. Otherwise you'll need to download free software.

Podcast Software
To get started, you'll need to download a free software such as iTunes (Win and Mac download), iPodder  (Win download | Mac download), or Doppler  (Win download). These programs allow you to subscribe to free podcasts from a variety of sources. New podcasts are being created every week and many podcasters issue new episodes of their programs on a regular basis.

Once you've downloaded a podcasting software, you're ready to subscribe to NEWSWEEK's podcasts. Copy these links into your software:

Comment: Help, I have tried for the past year to order Newsweek or been offered subscriptions which I respond to positviley only to be told that the magazine cannot be sent to APO addresses. How can that be, we who serve our country overseas are not allowed to read our favorite magazine because it is not allowed, Who is not allowing it and why are they not allowing it. I want to get to the bottom of this fiasco. jeff dye

Comment: Have you no shame Mr. Nader? Every time your cronies are in trouble they throw you in the ring! If you really have a heart and you care for the American public, why don't you go through the ranks, serve as congressman or a senator to change the way things are done in government. No! You are phony and we have caught up to your sick games. Please don't shame yourself and don't leave on your grotesk stain on this election as you did in 2000.
