This meltdown we are having has several causes. One the mortgage schemes that put people in mortgages they couldn't afford for the long term. Two OPEC has price our energy/oil way above its true value. Three the world is fearful of Obama being elected as our President. Vote McCain/Palin

In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything in the last 80 years.
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He didnt realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that .
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

The 'people' are only responding with the refrain that is handed to them - as their children and family members die without healthcare, as they are dumped in the street by predatory foreclosures, as the Kings and Emperors of Wall st and governmnet rollon their gilded hassocks and say -'Let the eat cake' - 'the stupid greedy middleclass people need a harsh lesson in personal economics - 'They are on their own.' Well - now they are on their own the middle class disenfranchised are saying. don't you dare bail them out! Give the money to the foreclosed and struggling homeowners. That will 'jump-start' the economy overnight. Until there is a truly comprehensive approach to the money mess - that includes

I wouldn't blame the homeowners. I would blame the predatory lenders. And I beg your pardon; I was one who lost her home due to the sub-prime lending fiasco!! I asked the broker over and over I wasn't sure I was able to meet the offer that was put on the table. He and the lender both outsmarted their way into my pocketbook and swindled me out of hundreds of thousands of dollars!! They were talking "stated income" and variable interest mortgages. There were red flags everywhere and it was too late for me to bail out in time. I managed to meet my mortgage payments for approximately 2 years until the interest rate went up to 25%!!! My mortgage went from $950 per month to $1500!! This was insanity!! I had tried to refinance with the same lender and was TURNED DOWN!! You tell me it was MY FAULT!! It was predatory lenders; hands down!! I tried to sell my home before it was foreclosed and nobody wanted it. I even tried to do a short sell (suggested by the lender) and still, nobody wanted it. Finally, at the last minute, someone put an offer on the table and the lender TURNED IT DOWN!! They wanted more money!! Those greedy bastards were holding out for more money. The house foreclosed in June of 2008. When I first got the house the sale price was $145,000.00. When it foreclosed, the bank bought it for $116,000.00. It's now on the market for $98,000.00. Tell me, do you still believe it's the home buyer's fault? If you do, you need your head examined.

PLEASE! Give the money to the struggling foreclosed homeowners? The same people who didn't have the sense to know that they couldn't afford the home they were buying? The same people who didn't review their loan documents and see what kind of program they were getting into? I DON'T THINK SO! If the money is given to them 99.999% of them will blow it in short order...hasn't this already been proven by the lottery winners? The rescue plan had provisions for helping people in foreclosure but most of you are so focused on getting back at Wall Street that you don't even realize that you will ultimately be shooting yourself in the process. How about the folks who worked hard, paid their bills, stayed out of debt, saved their money, invested it wisely and now want to retire? Where do we fall in this equation? Aren't our tax dollars going to ultimately be used to bail out the folks who are in trouble? Why am I not complaining about that? We need to work together to solve this problem and stop pointing fingers.

you know i hate it when people are nieve , if you would just listen more opoenly instead of being closed minded you all would see that obama, if he gets elected which i seriously doubt, would bring our country down even more, he is so nieve , he wishes he had half the knowledge as john mccain does , and as far as you saying that mccain doesnt understand the economy , im pretty sure that if your saying that mccain doesnt understand it then im pretty sure that obama doesnt either and i never heard john mccain say anuthing like that if you could prove it then i would accept the fact that he said that but if not than ill stand my ground and say you dont got proof and just shut the hell up, and as far as this crap about john mccain voted with bush for this, and that crap im pretty damn sure that obama has voted plenty of times with bush too.so has every other democrat and republican so if they tell you they havent than they are bull sh@@en you. but if you want a lieing immature ,decetful, presedant than go ahead and vote for fake a** obama but if you want a president who believes in the rights of innocent unborn babies who cant speak up for them selves, and a president who believes that we america do need a change than vote for mccain after all, obama only wants to be presidant so badly because he wants to make history he wants to be the first black presidant .

    The Bush Depression

In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide the largest morgage bank in the world,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch which are 3 out of the top 5 wall street firms. Also, Fanny and Freddy Mae which hold 50 percent of the home loans in the United States.
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. If they didn't the entire financially system would virtually shut down, the stock market would crash and we would suffer beyond what any of us have seen before.

McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.

No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He either didn't care or didn't realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime.
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a tanking economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit.Bush created a national debt larger then the first 42 presidents combined
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why isnt obama 25 points ahead

The chairman of McCains campaign recently said that people don't vote on issues they vote on a personality composite. Which means he is trying to sell you personality instead of results.

Let's teach him we are smarter than that .

31 states are voting now, dont wait
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

"Taking on mortgages epeople KNEW they couldn't afforcd". It's statements like these that show how truly out of touch the well-to-do are with regular, every day life changes. I KNEW I could afford my 900 mortgage when I bought my house because I had just been hired by one of the same companies that LAID ME OFF while their CEO's got million dollar severance packages. Only, when I got laid off, after 4 years on the job, I only got 1 month's severance pay. I KNEW I could afford my mortgage, but my company KNEW they had to make sure the rich got richer. Not to mention the fact that I had a baby (PLANNED) based on the income I THOUGHT I had. While I've managed to get back into the workforce, my pay is not what it was. Not on welfare, not getting hand outs, but in the hole, nonetheless. Enough of blaming the people. "The people" didn't lay me off. Some overpaid crony did.

"What did we the people do wrong? Nothing." Oh yeah? How about all "you the people" taking on mortagages you KNEW you couldn't afford, with no downpayment, and consciously lying on your mortgage applications? We the people were speculating on house price increases, pure and simple. If we the people hadn't taken out these specious mortgages to buy houses at ever-increasing stupid prices (that we the people KNEW were stupid), there would be no bad paper on Wall Street. Blame "we the people" as much as anyone.

  • Posted By: haystack @ 09/28/2008 9:31:26 PM

What did we the people do wrong? Nothing. Now we have to pay. This is not right. All those ceo's take off with all the money that should be paid back to help. But no. We have to pay. This is not American.

I'm in favor of the bailout but, since its our money out there for 5 years I would also like to see every company on this list have an advisor from the federal area sit in on the board , as both an overseer and laison for the American people, especially when compensation packages are being discussed.
    Can it be done? Yes.
    Should it be done? Yes.
If our president can put 92 lobbyists in advisory positions effecting every branch of govt and every dicision
in order to cover his back and another part of his body, then we the public can ask for the same.
We are getting very close to another Tea Party.
