Can we for a second discuss the fact that the media is only focusing on the "bad girls" of hollywood and the young men out there can do whatever they please. I realize that the behavior of these young people is appalling for either sex, but to criminalize the actions of only the women and to ignore the behavior of men is unconscionable. I imagine that the young men aren't sitting at home playing monopoly, but when men behave in a less than civilized manner it's just "boys being boys." I am not one those uber feminists who act as though the world has done men wrong, but I am a woman who is sick of women being held to a standard of "sugar and spice and everything nice."

Oh, good god, people! Get ahold of yourselves. Sixteen is hardly a child, I mean really! Human females become grown women at 15 not 18, I don't give a damn what the law says. Read your biology books. Only in the United States and Britain is there the phenomenom of adolescence. In all other countries you are either a girl or a woman, a boy or a man; there is no in-between. So she was having sex at 16 or even earlier; so what? She has desires and needs just like any other woman. Sorry all you goody-two-shoes but Jamie IS a woman, not a poor, innocent, little girl who got caught up in the big bad world. She did not give in to peer pressure nor did her boyfriend make her spread her legs. No, Ms. Spears did what any young woman would do in her situation. She just forgot (maybe) to use protection, that's all.

It's a sad day when the "theme dejour " in Hollywood is young - very young - girls announcing and rejoicing in their pregnancies. What message is this sending young girls - no, kids - around the world? There is no shame in getting pregnant at a young age - you'll get PAID magazine coverage, your TV series wil remain in tact, and your star will shine brighter and brighter. And it's not just the Jamie-Lynnes of the world. Everyone from Jessica Alba to Lily Allen are just announcing their pregnancies - oh so very casually - like it's the next hot "trend." What about responsibility - teaching kids that their are consequences for their actions, to abstain from sex until they're much much older, that marriage and family are a good thing - and not just yesterday's news. I guess Hollywood is teaching kids that teen pregnancy, unwed mothers and having kids and abandoning them with the "nanny" is cool. How kind of them. Thank you.
