Tony Emerson

Managing Editor, Newsweek International

Tony Emerson has been the senior editor for business at Newsweek International since January 2001. Previously, he was a senior writer specializing in coverage of Asian affairs since January 1996. From September 1989 to December 1996, Emerson worked as an associate editor and general editor on various sections of the magazine.

Emerson came to Newsweek in 1987, starting as a research intern. Prior to joining the magazine, Emerson was a staff writer with the Elizabeth, New Jersey newspaper, The Daily Journal, and a stringer with The Scarsdale Inquirer. In 1982, he was a reporter/intern in the Washington, D.C. bureau of the Toledo, Ohio newspaper, The Blade.

Emerson graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in political science. He also attended the School of International Affairs at Columbia University in New York City. He is married and lives in New York City.
